You CAN! That's the great thing about OBS!
You can play videos inside your video! You just need to tweak the desktop sound so It's not too loud or too low compared with your voice from the microphone.

Pedro, thank you so VERY MUCH for this timely video training!!!!
I started my YT Channel 3 weeks ago and I have been doing A LOT of research on video-editing software.
This weekend, I narrowed it down to a choice of 2:
- ShotCut and,
- Kdenlive.
Yet still, I was not highly satisfied with either.
Having watched your video and checked out OBS quickly, I think it may well be THE ONE!
At this stage, as you said, I need video-editing software that will not be too complicated or time-consuming.
Yet, it must give me all of some basic features.
This is highly appreciated!

Thank you for your words and, I'm glad you liked my training!
OBS is more of broadcast software, you can't really edit your videos with it.
What you can do is, use small videos and play them inside your video, which can be seen as a "sort" of editing ;)
It's not difficult to use, and there is tons and tons of training on the subject on YouTube.
Plus you can use it to broadcast live as well what can be a BIG PLUS!

I do understand that, Pedro.
I will use Shotcut to edit my videos which I can then piece together using OBS quickly.
After an hour today, I think I have the hang of it and my 2 videos look great!

Hi Pedro,
A quick note to let you know that last night I ran into some problems with my OBS download.
A message cam up saying that I had to down load some C++ files and took me to a site to download.
That hung for a while and required me to reboot.
In trying to reboot, it said that I had to do a system repair, which I could not.
Eventually, I had to complete a full reset and reinstall of all my software.
Not sure what happened but I will be a bit hesitant to download again, perhaps making another try over the weekend.

Just responding here (after talking to you) in the eventuality this issue comes up with someone else...
It looks like that you have to install both Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 redistributable
Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable [64bit]
Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable [32bit]
Also install .NET Framework 4.8
If the problem persists...
