As a site owner I know that it is frustrating when someone leaves me a comment and asks me a question and then they vanish into thin air. I have taken the time to answer their question, but I have no idea if they ever saw my answer.
I am sure I am not the only one going through this.
We are taught that comments are important to our site and so is subsequent discussion. I think out of the 200 or so comments that have been left on my site only a handful are left by "repeat" commenters. By this I mean the person comes back and checks to see if I have left a reply for them and then they respond to that reply.
Now, sometimes you leave a comment and the site owner replies and other than saying "thanks" there isn't much that needs to be said. In those cases, I wouldn't expect someone to go back and leave another comment (unless of course you want to).
Keeping Track of Visited Sites is Overwhelming
This is probably the biggest reason why people don't go back to a site to see if the owner has responded. I bet you completely forgot what site you were even on.
I hope to ease some of these dilemmas with this tutorial
