There is a statement that applies to baseball fields which says “if you build it, they will come.” The statement doesn’t apply to getting website traffic. If you only build the website, people won’t come. For you to get traffic on your website, you need to continuously create traffic-driven content that will get people from social media and the search engines.
Using Keywords
1. Understand the definition of keywords
If you are to compare your website with a book, the pages of the book are your web pages. The content you are marketing on each page of the books is the keywords.
2. Use a short keyword
Gucci shoes, Citation on Netflix are examples of good keywords.
- When your keyword is short and not lengthy, it will be easier for your user to find the content. However, you should be more conscious about making the keyword clear rather than making it short. For example, if you are creating an Alumni page for the University of Southern California, your users will search for “University of Southern California” instead of “University Southern California.”
- In your keyword, don’t be too specific about what you are promoting. If you are selling hot wheel cars, it will be better to set your keyword as a hot wheel car. Your users don’t really know much about the product you are selling; some of them don’t even know the name of the manufacturer. In your keyword, you don’t need to be specific about the product’s manufacturer; this is because your users will likely search for ‘hot wheel cars.’
3. Use keywords in the URL, title tag, and the header of your page.
The web address of your site is the URL. The title tag is the name you have assigned to a particular webpage of your website. The header tags are used to categorize content on the website; it will help you organize your page more.
- There are various platforms out there that will allow you to create title tags and headers on your website. You don’t have to bother about the HTML code of the site. All you need to find is clear keywords that you can use for your website. Also, you need to use those keywords on the appropriate page.
