So you've taken the steps that we have mentioned but the freewriting is too unfocused to use! Then take a break. Try a second session later, but try to maintain focused on the subject on which you are writing.

Freewriting is important and can be beneficial to all writers. It works even when it doesn’t! You know, it is possible that what you wrote won't lead to further ideas or development. Don’t worry, though. Thanks to this exercise, you now know that this idea may not be the right one and you can try out something else. In this way, freewriting saves time whether it leads to specific ideas or not.
