As I mentioned on the previous page, you really need to wait several days before checking to see where the post you just published is ranked in the search results. Then when you do go and check, it is VERY important that you check for your keywords in the correct way.

WHY WAIT & HOW TO SEARCH?

WHY WAIT?

Let me first address why you need to wait because this is the simplest to answer. Whenever fresh new content is indexed into Google and especially if it has low competition (QSR) keywords, Google will give them artificial rankings. Sort of like saying, Hey! Check this out!

However during the first several days, the ranking algorithm will be looking at all of the different ranking factors, over 200 of them. It will then determine your rightful rankings. If you search for your keywords before this is complete, you could think you are ranking high when you are not.

My friend, the senior programmer at Google, says you should wait 10-14 days for all of the calculations to be set. I am sure you may have seen your rankings really high at first, then drop like a rock, only to come back up again over a period of time. Some call this the Google Dance.

HOW TO SEARCH?

After you have waited a while and even if you are in a hurry to see where you are ranked, it is very important that you search Google correctly. I will explain the process you must do for searching Google on the next page because there is a bit of things you must do first.

On this page I will explain a really simple way to see if your keywords are ranking on Page One of Google, Bing and Yahoo. All you have to do is use the Site Rank inside of Jaaxy. When you want to see if your keyword is ranking on Page 1, type in your keyword and the website domain.

Once you have your target keyword and your website domain typed in, like the example in the image above, you want to now click on the search button. This will now activate Jaaxy to search for your keyword associated with your domain on page one of Google, Bing and Yahoo.

REMEMBER: You really should wait 10-14 days before performing this search to get a more accurate result. However if you should do this within days of publishing your content just know that the results you get may very well be false and you will need to do this search again later.

After you have searched your keyword Jaaxy will display the results similar to what you see in the above image. It will show you the positions your keyword is at on Google, Bing & Yahoo. I highlighted the Yahoo tab so you can see how the results will be displayed in their positions.

NOTE that it is now the end of November 2019 and this Page One (Positions 5, 3 & 2) ranking post was published on September 20, 2019, which is long after my initial 10 days of waiting. By using the Jaaxy Site Rank feature you will easily and accurately know how to check your page ranking in Google.

Hey Robert, this was really fun and something I have never really paid attention to (yeah, I know I should :). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see I have ranked on page 1 and 2 for posts in the past. One of these days, I will check them all out and see what I can do for those that never ranked.

Thanks for sharing :).

Hello Robert,
I just found this little training as I was a little desperate finding my website after I got the "it is indexed" message. In my case I didnt find my website at all. BUT, what I have learned from this article, patience is the keyword. But its a hard to be patient, when you are new in the business and exited ;-)
So thanks a lot for the information!
You made me curious and I will checkout your other trainings while waiting on google and taking a break between new content articles :-)
Best Regards
Olaf

This training made my day.

I have a website, recently created, and a page within the website is titled Automotive Gadgets.

By using the Private Browsing Mode in FireFox and using Yahoo Search, I found my Automotive Page on the 2nd page of the Yahoo search results. And all I typed in to find this result were 2 words........Automotive Gadgets. This is encouraging to say the least.

Robert, thanks a ton for your training!

Boomergp08 has been a great "go to" source for getting many questions answered. I started following Boomergp08 a couple of years ago due to his knowledge and tips on building websites.

This is the reason Boomergp08 is ranked in the top 50 here at WA. I suggest that older and new WA members stay in touch with Boomergp08 and follow his posts and training.

I've been down this road, too, Rob.

It can be a rude awakening when seeing the huge difference between a Google/Bing/Yahoo keyword search on a "standard" browser and a browser in "privacy/incognito' mode.

Another thing is that, even though we may have chosen "low hanging fruit" keywords on Jaaxy, and we've waited a month or so to verify rankings in incognito mode, we should look at how many results there are in that keyword search.

Search results could be in the low hundreds - in which case we may very well be ranking on page 1 or 2.

But, those search results could also be in the millions - which leads to the hard realization that the competition is a lot tougher to overcome. And, it's very likely that it can take months - or even years - to rank high - because, we are probably competing against other quality websites that are more "well seasoned" than ours.

Yes Jim, I too have noticed this and it is one of the reasons I do not bother to always check to see where I am ranking for my target keyword. I would prefer to just keep writing content.

In doing so I give Google the time to thoroughly check my content for ranking factors, add authority by adding more content, and focus on gaining traffic. Rankings will come later.

In the beginning I was like many new members here at WA, quickly wanting to know where I am ranking. But that became a time waster and I now only care about choosing a good keyword and writing quality content.
