PAGE 4 - Why you should not get discouraged about low rankings

Almost everyday I see members posting that they are ranking on Google Page One for their keywords in their latest website posts. Even though I know this is an exciting experience I also know that there is a really good chance that these members are mistaken.

SOME TOUGH LOVE

If you are going to post a WA blog claiming that you are ranking on Page One for a specific keyword, don’t just say so. Provide some proof like the below screenshot. Post the keyword and domain you believe is ranking on Page One so we can check it out too. This will also help you to see if you are correct.

I am all for WA members succeeding and I personally know that by following the training and working hard you will eventually reach your goal. But I also do not want you to be misled by what you think is true when in reality it is not.Let me explain what I mean.

If you are going up on Google and searching for the keywords from your newly published page or post within the first few days, your search results will most likely be FALSE. In this day and age of “Instant Everything” your real Google results will not be instant.

The general rule as explained to me by my friend David, a Senior Programmer at Google, is to wait for about 10 days before checking, otherwise your results will be wrong. There are a few good reasons why these results will be wrong, and I will explain them on the next page.

NEXT UP = Why you should NOT search your keywords in Google just after publishing.

Why even take the time to look?

Why not spend that time making another post?

I totally agree but there are so many members that do spend the time looking and many of them are doing it wrong.

Then when they see their content ranking on Google Page One, in most cases they really are not.

I did this tutorial to both explain to them that they should not be checking so soon after publishing and should just keep writing content.

If they should decide to check they have to do so at a certain time and in a certain way to get accurate results.

Hey Robert, this was really fun and something I have never really paid attention to (yeah, I know I should :). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see I have ranked on page 1 and 2 for posts in the past. One of these days, I will check them all out and see what I can do for those that never ranked.

Thanks for sharing :).

Hello Robert,
I just found this little training as I was a little desperate finding my website after I got the "it is indexed" message. In my case I didnt find my website at all. BUT, what I have learned from this article, patience is the keyword. But its a hard to be patient, when you are new in the business and exited ;-)
So thanks a lot for the information!
You made me curious and I will checkout your other trainings while waiting on google and taking a break between new content articles :-)
Best Regards
Olaf

This training made my day.

I have a website, recently created, and a page within the website is titled Automotive Gadgets.

By using the Private Browsing Mode in FireFox and using Yahoo Search, I found my Automotive Page on the 2nd page of the Yahoo search results. And all I typed in to find this result were 2 words........Automotive Gadgets. This is encouraging to say the least.

Robert, thanks a ton for your training!

Boomergp08 has been a great "go to" source for getting many questions answered. I started following Boomergp08 a couple of years ago due to his knowledge and tips on building websites.

This is the reason Boomergp08 is ranked in the top 50 here at WA. I suggest that older and new WA members stay in touch with Boomergp08 and follow his posts and training.

I've been down this road, too, Rob.

It can be a rude awakening when seeing the huge difference between a Google/Bing/Yahoo keyword search on a "standard" browser and a browser in "privacy/incognito' mode.

Another thing is that, even though we may have chosen "low hanging fruit" keywords on Jaaxy, and we've waited a month or so to verify rankings in incognito mode, we should look at how many results there are in that keyword search.

Search results could be in the low hundreds - in which case we may very well be ranking on page 1 or 2.

But, those search results could also be in the millions - which leads to the hard realization that the competition is a lot tougher to overcome. And, it's very likely that it can take months - or even years - to rank high - because, we are probably competing against other quality websites that are more "well seasoned" than ours.

Yes Jim, I too have noticed this and it is one of the reasons I do not bother to always check to see where I am ranking for my target keyword. I would prefer to just keep writing content.

In doing so I give Google the time to thoroughly check my content for ranking factors, add authority by adding more content, and focus on gaining traffic. Rankings will come later.

In the beginning I was like many new members here at WA, quickly wanting to know where I am ranking. But that became a time waster and I now only care about choosing a good keyword and writing quality content.
