This is a group of people searching the internet for a solution to their problem, but they are not finding any. They share a need related to a common interest and, therefore, they are the people that should be targeted. The product or service should address that shared need in order to have a business.


How to reach the right market

It is important to find a market first, before thinking of the product or service needed by this market. The people who want to buy the product/service are the most important to be figured out first.

An example of hard to reach is a market for people with cough. A product for people with cough intended to cure all coughs in the world sound a good niche, but have you found a niche market, by discovering such a big sure? NO, you haven’t.Why? Because, how and where do you find people with coughs online?

Not many if any forums with such people can be found online. This makes the market difficult to reach. If you chance on such people, they have to trust the product before purchasing it. The product might be great, but it is a difficult one to sell online.

In contrast to this, the market for people who want to learn to play guitar could make a lucrative market because many people out there are looking for how they can learn to play guitar. It is easy to find hangout places of these people and define the market.


Mathematical definition of a niche market


Well, in simple terms a niche is a subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing.
