Checklist for a niche market
- The market should have a problem and actively looking for a solution to that problem. Even if there is a problem but the market is not looking for a solution to it, there is no niche.
- The market should be willing to pay for the product or service being provided to them. It does not matter even if there is a need the target market should be willing to pay the amount of money for that service or product.
- The market should not be saturated already. Say the niche was targeted at training mothers on weaning their babies off the breast and many people are targeting that market already it is better to find gaps in that market. The market could not have targeted working mum who wants to learn how to wean a child at their own free time. So this group could be targeted through eBooks and the niche would be Ebook for working mum who want to attend the lesson as their own leisure times.
- The product or service should be solving the problem it is intended to solve. Giving out free trials and getting feedback can address such problems of whether it is well targeted.
- It is important to track who the customers are and why they like the product.
- Niches change with needs. When the needs change, it is important to adapt the business to address the new need in order to stay in the market.
