This training is intended for newbies of Wordpress site owners. I encountered some of our new members asked if they could share their site back-end with others and I think this is one of the methods they can apply.

There are many reasons why you need to create new user for your Wordpress site. For example, you want someone to help you to create content, design your site, managing comments, links and so on.

Before creating a new user, you need to identify the roles you want to assign to the new user. You want to make sure that users have only the appropriate access of your site for security and privacy reasons. And this can be easily controlled through the assignment of roles.

In this training, we will be covering
(1) how to create a new user in your wordpress site and
(2) explanation of different roles of users in Wordpress.

So, let's begin.

How to create a new user in Wordpress

This is a step to step process how you can add a new user for your wordpress site.

First of all, you need to login to your Wordpress dashboard, either through your site-manager in WA or straight away from Wordpress login page.

After login into your Wordpress site,

  1. Go to your dashboard menu and look for 'user'

  2. If you hover your mouse on it, there are a few options available. Choose by clicking 'Add New'

Easy so far?

Let's continue....

Do my new users (that are making their own posts) need to have an account on here to use my website?

Well, i've created a new user on WordPress by going through here. Do I have to recreate some of my website in WordPress again and transfer my posts that i've made over? If so, how exactly do I do that?

Also, do I have to buy a domain first?

You can set a new author for posts on the Wordpress dashboard. I thought you were referring to external users, not another identity for yourself.

You don't HAVE to do anything - but you will be more successful with a site on your own domain.

I am referring to external users. Sorry, if I confused you there.

Then they can log in through one of the widgets, I don't remember which one - will add a login to your sidebar.
