An About Me page is important to have within any niche website. It allows you to connect with your audience and let them know your story and why you are interested in helping them out.

Remember though, an About Me is YOUR page. Don't think there is a "template" to creating a successful one, rather, your way is the right way. Create this page as though you would write the content geared towards a friend of a family member. The goal is to build TRUST with your audience.

In this video I am going to walk you through the process of creating an "About Me" page on your website and how to do so in a way that builds trust with your audience (which ultimately will lead to higher conversions).

Here is the example About Me page that I used in the video:

http://basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com/about-kyle

If you have any questions about your About Me page or want to share it here for feedback, feel free to do so and we will be more than happy to help you out.

When you write about me page don't forget that you also introduce your self to your visitors as an expert in your niche. You can write some things about you and what makes you knowledgeable in your niche. I got one site related to fitness world and supplements so I write in about me page how obsessed I was in my life about my body, different supplements etc. If you like check about me page on my website www.energyandmuscle.com
You don't have to be a pro-writer just be your self and I'm sure you will create awesome about me page. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Kyle,

I am in a quandary about the part in the "about me" page where you have to tell the audience how you are gong to help them and what kind of content you will be writing about. I am a newbie. I am taking Boot Camp. I want to sell Wealthy Affiliate.

I have ideas of what to say about me. The problem is I do not have a success story with my previous online business that I started in 2005. It ended in failure. I suffered a nervous breakdown, lost my house over the financial loss plus because of the extreme stress I developed the mental illness bipolar disorder which I will struggle with for the rest of my life.

I want to help people like myself get back on their feet. 2004 was my biggest year financially. I was a voice actress on the successful cartoon show Rugrats, I used to make six figure income several years in a row, but I always wanted to own my own business though.

In 2005 with tons of my own money got an online business up and running and thought it was going to be a huge success. It sent me to the poor house.

My point for all of this is that I do have a story to tell but when you get to the part of what kind of content I will be having on the site or how I can help them get out of financial ruin or things of that nature I am at a loss for words. I have no success story to share. I am just starting out at WA. I know my life will change because of it and I am so happy to have discovered this wonderful opportunity.

Any advice from you would be so appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi Kyle, on the about me page for my website cmc-development.net that I'm using to promote wealthy affiliate on do I add the www.my.wealthyaffiliate.com at the bottom of my about me page or directly on my website cmc-development.net and how will that work if someone was to click on it, would my link me automatically attached with wealthy affiliate?

dont be to hard on yourself man, it is actually very easy when you divided into small tasks such as:
at first state your name with your age for example and what you do for a living or your passion something to be relatively close to your niche.
second state the reason why you created this website and how do you want to help people through it.
then you can tell a story about you and how you became interested in your niche and your journey with it.
ask for feedback from your audience and offer a question for any answer.
i guess that should do the trick i hope this can help you with your about me page.
cheers,
Aous.

Hi Lisa ,, I think you have done a great job, people who read this would get a sense of a patient yet determined person , someone who sticks to their views without being side tracked. Take this attitude into WA, follow the program and you will go very well.

Hi, S.O.S! I do not write much questions because I'm learning English at the same time that online business, jijij. That has delayed me a lot, is very difficult especially to write content in English. I have just completed my “about me” page. Please give me any opinion and if you find any mistake with the writing please let me know and I will be very grateful. Greetings

Hi, in my opinion, your content is very engaging and well writing, in your own style, what is very good.
Now, as a Designer (I’m sorry…) I have a few tips for you that could help you to make look your website more professional and organize, less amateur and messy…
1-Don’t use more than 2 or 3 different fonts (you are using 7!) If you what to emphasize something use the same typography, (font), in bold, or italic, or only capitals, or a bigger type size.
2-Do not use Comic Sans, it’s the most hated font in the world by designers, it’s the first thing that explain us in the classroom, if you want to know why check this, it’s funny… http://www.comicsanscriminal.com/
3-Do not use more than 2 paragraph justifications, left for the article and center for quotations it’s enough.
Best of look whit your website, is going in the right direction, great pictures!

hey amel, would you mind sharing how you made your page to click and change to different paragraphs? I thought it was really cool! I would like to do something like that on my homepage, but not with the paragraphs. Just with the click anywhere on the page and then it will change the background and what the person sees. I think its awesome! If you don't want to share that is okay, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask :)

Hi Athan, I had a good read of your About Me page. It's well laid out and really only needs grammar tweaks. There are lots of little items that an English speaking person will notice that are just slightly off. It might be worth your while to send the whole document to an editor on Fivrr to get it done up correctly, if having proper English grammar is important to you.

I was wondering if it matters if we call our About Me page, Who Am I? Does that small thing matter to Google and for rankings?
Reply
steveo5770 Premium
No, that page probably won't rank either way.
Reply

Thank you for the reply. The reason I asked was because someone told me to also submit my about me page to social book marking like I might all my other posts.
Reply
steveo5770 Premium
I see. I don't pay attention that social stuff (it's just not my thing) but I can tell you that people will visit your "Who Am I" page out of curiosity. I definitely wouldn't worry about ranking though. There are probably 100's of millions of about me pages out there.

If I create a new website and when it's time to do so on the new site I guess it would be considered as a duplicate content is that correct?
If so then I need to re do the new about me page in a different way is that right?
Reply
KylieL Premium
Correct. You should mention a little bit about the site that the about page is on so that would help change it up for each site.
Reply

Thanks Kylie i thought so just needed to double check. I guess an about page is no different to any other page with regards to content.

Hey Carl, I really think you did an awesome job with your about me page and creating trust. Just proofread it a little and it will be perfection. Below I have done the proofreading for you and my suggestions are in parenthesis.

Thanks for pointing out that this page doesn't have to be set in stone and can be revised over time. The tips to make it as if writing to family and friends, add an image and just to tell why we are interested in the particular niche really helped me. With little social media experience, I found this to be one of the tougher pages to put together. Your advice is making it so much easier for me.

It will help many here, including me as mine is much too formal and stiff.

Now, off to do away with the formality and stiffness of my about me page… Thank You.

Yeah, and that is what all the content should feel like within your website. It is all about connecting with your audience and building that trust and this is done through communication style writing.

i think about me page is about me - thus what goes inside should feel comfortable for me. therefore length and context including style of presenting it will slightly differ. marcy

I think my about me page is way too involved and it needs to be shortened up. It is more like a trip through my life and thus many of those details can be combined down and much of it removed. My biggest concern is length. Otherwise I will probably keep it pretty much along the lines.

It mentions Wealthy Affiliate. Should I not have this in there? This page should not have any affiliate links in it correct?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, you don't want to offer too much information at the same time, in particular offering information and stories that are totally irrelevant to your niche. You want it to build trust, you don't want it to overwhelm them.

You can definitely mention Wealthy Affiliate and you could tie it into your journey online (if you have a bootcamp website). I would not be dropping affiliate links on your About Me, but you can absolutely send someone to your review page from your About Me page.
Reply
Thanks Kyle :) I already went through it and rewrote it. Much shorter now and can still take some improvements.

Originally it did go straight to WA but it also had a link to the review. I will restore the link to the review for a particular text I can convert to an anchor text.

Your example was very helpful.
