Step 1) First of all - This training is for those who either have Google WebMaster Tools and AdSense all set up or have reached Course Level 5, Lesson 2 in the WA training. If you are not there yet, just bookmark this, and come back when you're ready!

Google AdSense is a plug-in which you must install via the "plug-in" feature of your Wealthy Affiliate account.

If you haven't yet installed that, do that and come back!

As of this writing, Dec. 10, 2015, Google AdSense version is 1.2.1 and it requires WordPress Version 3.5 or higher.
Author: Google

FYI Facts:

  • Has the ability to install third-party WordPress plugins.
  • Can only be used on sites hosted outside WordPress.com (such as Wealthy Affiliate). WordPress.com does not allow this plugin on its hosted sites.

A very nice walk-thru for this plugin....I was wondering how successful it has been for you so far? Do you need to get pre-approved?

Hi Rosie, thank you for the compliments! Re: pre-approval, not that I recall. I downloaded the plug-in, installed, then activated. It's available to anyone, at least here on Wealthy Affiliate, but it is not (yet) available to those using WordPress.com.

All I know is that Google "usually" plays ads that are relevant to your content. However, with the ability to "re-target," they may continue to bombard people who have moved on from the initial page in order to achieve the repetition that is "usually" required to successfully entice a viewer to click the ad. The bottom line, technology is changing constantly. With that stated, there "may" be a way to "control" Google, or tell it what ads you like over others, but I haven't used it as yet.

Oh sorry to have bothered you. I gathered from the training that you had used this plug-in successfully.

Allow me to clarify. Once again, " ...there "may" be a way to "control" Google, or tell it what ads you like over others, but I haven't used" that feature "as yet." I do use Google AdSense, as that is my site in the pictures used in the training.

What control do you have over ad content? What if the ad is so far removed from your niche? Is there a means of having ads that fit?

I believe you can actually name domains that you don't want advertised, but, again, I have not used that feature.
