When we create a WordPress website, there is a set default login name > ADMIN. One of the first things we hear about the admin login name is that it is the easist way to get your site hacked.
Yet, knowing this, WordPress tells you that the admin name cannot be changed or modified.
What is a new website owner to do?
How do you go about changing the login credentials if you cannot change the admin name?
Some people create a new User account with Administrator control, and delete the original admin account. Before you delete, make sure you have the new user login name and new password.
That is one way.
The following tutorial will show you another way to change the Admin name without creating a new user account.
Let's get started!
Once you have logged into your website and are looking at the admin dashboard, scroll down to Plugins, and select 'Add New' plugin.
Look right, to see 'Search for Plugins search bar.
Enter 'Username Changer.
Note: Do not be concerned that this plugin is untested. I have been assured by the author that the code is so simple, it doesn't need to be updated very often.
Install plugin and activate.
Return to your Profile page.
Scroll down to Username:
Click the Change Username Link.
Go to next page to continue.
