Better safe than sorry

Why would you want your website backed up to your email, you may ask. Because it's safer to have it in more than one place in order to be able to recover it if one place magically gets corrupted, hacked or anything. What are the odds, right? But better safe than sorry.

Now, let's see how you can backup to your email, process that's much similar to that of backing up to dropbox.

1. Same as with backing up using the Dropbox account, install the BackWpUp plugin.

2. Go to Add New Job

3. Name the Job ,,Email backup'' or whatever you want to call it

4. Scroll down and under ,,Job Destination'' check the Backup sent via email box

This is OK for small sites. But I think better to back up larger sites to Dropbox or FTP so you can download anytime.

You're right, but it can be useful as most people have small sites when they do begin.
And it's always better to have it backed up in more than one place.
I'm also using dropbox but also email and I also saved it on an external drive.

Thanks Aless, just to check with you when you do a backup regularly, do you delete the old backup file? Regards Sadie

You receive the backup in your email inbox, and once you receive your backup today and everything is fine, you can delete the older one. Because if you have a newer one, you can always revert to a fine version of your website should anything go wrong
