According to Wikipedia

“Quora is a question-and-answer site were questions are asked, answered, edited and organized by its community of users. Its publisher, Quora, Inc., is based in Mountain view, California. The company was founded in June 2009, and the website was made available to the public on June 21, 2010. Users can collaborate by editing questions and suggesting edits to other users' answers.”

It was founded by a couple of former FaceBook employees. In order to use it, you simply have to register using your real name or by logging in using FaceBook or Google. You then set your profile up with whatever information you want to share. I added my website address to my profile. There are many industries and topics to choose from. You can choose to answer questions or ask questions. I tend to answer questions most of the time. It's quite interesting to read the answers to questions and to see who is answering or asking them.

Why bother you might ask? If you are a well established blogger or already have plenty of traffic to your site or blog, you might not be interested. But, if you are still new and searching for traffic sources, it can be a huge benefit. Here are three benefits: First, anyone can do it. Second, it drives referral traffic to your site. And Third, it builds your personal brand.

Excellent tip, Kathy, and very good training. One question: are you allowed to mention your website on Quora, or to direct people to your website by way of inserting the link??

Thanks
Giulia

Yes, you are. You can add it in your profile or mention a particular page in your answer!

This is great Kathy! I heard of Quora but have not used it. I will try it now! I have joined Facebook groups for cat health and behavior and answered questions on there but don't get high levels of traffic. I will try the same thing on Quora.
