Previously I made a training video on how to get social media icons on your sidebar using the "Social Media Widget" plugin by Noah Kagan.

You can find that training here ---> https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-ad...

However, some people are having trouble with that plugin so I decided to create another video on the same topic, but on another plugin as an alternative.

The plugin I'll be using for today's video is "Social Media Icons Widget" by Akhlesh-nagar and compared to the previous plugin, I find this one more lightweight and simpler, perfect for those who want simplicity. Hope you have fun!

Greetings, Riaz!!!

I had watched your video over a week ago, but I just now have the time to go through this.

I looked at the plugin you suggested, but it shows it was updated 2 years ago. Would that be an issue? Also, it states that it's not compatible with my version of WP which is 4.7.3.

I installed Acurax, but even though it says "floating" in the title, I didn't know what that looked like. Turns out I don't like floating icons, so I 'll select another one.

I was just curious to know what version of WP are you using and if the plugin is working well with that version.

Hey Venorina,
There won't be any issues, the plugin works fine. I too update my WP every time there's a new update coming out but if you'd like to try another plugin, SumoMe also has a floating social media icon and it works great.

I appreciate your response, Riaz. I actually decided to go with UltimatelySocial, they have 70,000+ active installers, 5 star rating, and was updated 2 weeks.

Thanks again!

Ultimately social is fine too, at the end of the day, they are all only social media icons. Good luck on your site!

Hey man, awesome video, I am using that for my readers to follow me.

My question is how do I get the 'share' social media widget on the left side of the page? the one where readers can share on their social accounts.

Thank you.

Thanks Jeru, I get what you mean. That widget is called the floating social media widget. Do try it out!

Hey thanks for the reply Riaz, I tried searching for it, there were MANY that came up, I picked one that was the closest, which is okay, but too small and it goes under the post, do you know the author for the one that has the plugin show up on the left side of the page instead?

It's called a vertical floating social media widget Jeru, quite some time since I've used that one. You can install the Sumo Me plugin, from there, you can customize your social media icons even more.
