I kept on looking for an easier way. After lots of frustrations from failed trials, I went back online to read more. I found a great article that explained how it is done in a very simple way, by using YOUR THEME.

I found out that I could update the copyright in the footer LIVE by using my theme. I'm not sure if the theme you use allows you to make changes live, while you are typing, but I'll show you below how I did it on my website.

(1) Go to Appearance in your theme and select Customize.


(2) it will take you to the menu list where you can update things live. Click on footer.

Thank You Mona. I remember Marion Black adding a training on this a couple of years ago but have not been able to find it since so I've just left my old Copyrights up. I will go test tour Theme option on my Theme now. Thanks a mill.

Yes, adapting in appearances... depending of theme.
Some even allow to add your affiliate link

E.g. If you have a paid theme, you can become affiliate and add your affiliate link to the theme
