Review main categories
Review the main categories and compare the top organic competitors, in the same manner as you have just done.
Focus only on the sites in your chosen keyword and see if any of the top competitors that you have identified are there, ignore the others!
You may well find that your competition is everywhere you look, like mine is lol.
Select a keyword from your site that best represent your site or a section of your site.
Look at the search volume of the keyword, also check similar phrases to see if they have more searches, and maybe lower competition.
Identify the user intent when they are searching it. This will tell you if they have come for information or solely to buy. Maybe a little of both?
An example of user intent is buy eBook or buy textbook. Bothe mean the same but have completely different search results and competition results. Find out which is your best keyword. ( Including checking out the competition.) Do not miss this step.
Their site authority etc.
Based on your findings, you will need to develop pages/posts that are highly relevant to your chosen keyword. This is ESSENTIAL.
To increase your chances, work on offsite methods such as social signals/sharing etc)
Try and provide a variety of resources in addition to just text and images. Theses can be data focussed such as charts, graphs and Comparison tables etc
Coming Shortly, Keyword Maps…
1) I have no idea how to check sone of those things like site authority!
2) This approach will consume huge amounts of time
3) This approach will stop me from writing naturally!
Any thoughts on how to overcome my obstacles using this approach which for sure yields great results, would be appreciated.
