I do not find this is a right way. Why wasting your time by checking your competition? I have never done this.

See what Kyle says about it in his live class, go to 17:50.

aahhhhh yea good point but unfortunately you have misinterpreted my training I am on about keyword research before you go to the trouble of writing a post and HE IS ON ABOUT NICHE COMPETITION there is a big difference matey :(

Actually, he suggests taking care about the competition only when you are searching for a keyword, while looking at competitors' sites is a waste of time. So there is no misunderstanding. All you need is a keyword tool and no need to study anybody's sites and how to push a competitor from the position 10 to 11.

Why would you care about their H1, or about their on page content? Think about your own. But it is your site, you do it your way, no problem with that.

hahahahaa your words my friend - ""His message seems to be, take care about competition only when you are searching for a specific keyword for a post."" and that is bingo- what I am referring to, specific keywords for a post!

A lot of great info Simon...the thing is there are several buts with this approach:
1) I have no idea how to check sone of those things like site authority!
2) This approach will consume huge amounts of time
3) This approach will stop me from writing naturally!
Any thoughts on how to overcome my obstacles using this approach which for sure yields great results, would be appreciated.

Well, to be honest I think that it should be slotted in to your allotted time that you have given yourself to do a post. As, surely it is better to be page one than anywhere else,so, personally I think that it is well worth the effort.
