In this training we’ll take a quick ride through the history of Google. We’ll also take a look at some of the most famous Google updates. We’ll do this to demonstrate that the best way to be esteemed by Google is writing quality content for your website. Here is what will be covered in this training (the points listed below are links and you could click on them if you want to go directly to that topic):
Background to Google’s rise: Yahoo! and Excite (Page 2).
The Google boys: Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Page 3).
Google’s beginnings: Search engine development (Page 4).
Google’s updates: Google continues to improve its algorithm (Page 5).
Search engines are a good way to drive people to your site. You could easily build a business with them as your sole stream of traffic. This is called organic traffic.
In the search engines realm, due to the fact that Google is far ahead from its competitors, we’ll focus only on it in this training. Presently there are no signs of this changing soon. Instead, Google is leading further on each day. Take for example the prevailing position it has in searches done using mobile devices.
Sometimes things that are difficult for us to understand or assimilate may be easily comprehended and accepted if we change our perspective.
The term SEO (Search Engine Optimization) may sound frightening as you start out as an affiliate marketer. And we highly encourage you to put aside all your fears and continually increase your knowledge in this area. But, if you want to have a healthy relationship with Google, content always comes first. Putting yourself in Google’s shoes could simplify your dealings with search engines.
You have surely heard the expression “Content is King”. By the way, do you know who said that? Before you reach the end of this training you’ll have discovered who did.
To understand the importance of content, we could start by getting to know Google a bit more. The sole history of Google and the pathway it took to rise to its current position is key.
They started the race in the search engine segment trying to deliver results ranking the best content on the top. And this made users place Google on the top. During these past years they have continuously payed attention to content and it has established them on position number 1. What do you think they will continue to do in the future?
WOW - you always do the most interesting trainings! ;-)
Thank you for the history about Google. I remember those early years - I didn't like Google at all and never used them. I preferred http://www.Mamma.com or http://www.AllTheWeb.com. Mamma's slogan was "The Mother of all search engines", but today they are only about coupons, it looks like. It also looks like AllTheWeb has been taken over by Yahoo.
I remember that I got a free sewing pattern from http://TuCows.com, which was a winner. But today, TuCows is a very different website than what it used to be.
And I loved your comics too - you are very creative! Although I sincerely hope you are wrong with your prediction to which extent Google will invade our privacy!
Much enjoyed - thank you, Henry!
