In this day of YouTube, videos are have become enormously popular. So much so that in a recent report it was found that the number of searches on YouTube have now surpassed those on Google... now think about that for a second! As a result, we now all need to think about putting a much bigger emphasis on search optimisation for video platforms like YouTube, Vimeo and the like.

So many more bloggers are now also becoming Vloggers (Video Bloggers) too. In many instances, video blogging has proven to be more effective in communicating and engaging with their audiences than the written word. Perhaps this is because videos are mostly more easily consumable than just written words. Much like audio and audio podcasts, people can watch or listen to them while doing other things, such as when they're cooking a meal, exercising at a gym, or travelling to work by train or bus.

So it's time to get on the video wagon people. And here's how.

Hi Sean I've just read your guide about video making. Can the video be of live movements and photos with descriptions and voices?

Hi Bev
I'd say that the videos that obtain more engagement are those that make the whole experience more real and tangible. So yes, a mix of both live video and photos is fine, and can often work well together, but from what I've seen myself, those that require the viewer to read too tend to get reduced view times and less engagement. So I guess I'm saying that the viewing medium can be varied but the audio element should be that and not scripted on screen, if that makes sense. Does that answer your question? 8-)

Hi Sean so you think it is better to replace the description of the photo with voice explaining?

If it is an in-video description, yes. Supporting descriptions on the web page are fine though.
