I wanted my user to have a gravatar. I think it looks cool when we publish a post or answer comments and each one of these actions is accompanied by our gravatar.
So I started doing the process but at a certain point of signing up at gravatar.com they said they would send me an email with a link I had to click for confirmation purposes. In other words, they said I had to click this link to activate my Gravatar Account.
Those of you doing this process will see this message from the Gravatar platform that I show in the screenshot below.
However, in my case the email never arrived.
I had set up my email right here in Wealthy Affiliate (in Webmail). Here is a screenshot.
So, if you’re in a similar situation, here is a list of possible solutions. I did everything in this list:
- I asked Gravatar to send me another activation email (you can see in the first screenshot above the place where you can request that) .
- I waited several hours. Nothing arrived.
- I checked the Spam folder. There was nothing there.
- I checked that I had typed the email address ok. Yes, I had typed it correctly.
- I sent a test email to my email here in Wealthy Affiliate (Webmail) and I received it. Wealthy Affiliate’s email was working fine! The problem was with that specific activation email from Gravatar.
- I decided to forward from my email right here in Wealthy Affiliate (Webmail) to a Gmail account. Check screenshot below:
And asked gravatar to resend the activation email. I waited, checked spam folder in my Gmail account but still didn’t receive anything.
7. I sent a test email to my email that was now forwarded to my Gmail account and I received it. Wealthy Affiliate’s forwarding emails was working fine! The problem continued to be with that specific activation email from Gravatar.
Solution:
So if you have tried many of these things (or all) and you still haven’t received the activation email, this is for you.
The way how I solved this problem is very simple. When you request this activation email to be sent directly to a Gmail account, the email arrives.
I wanted the emails from my site to have gravatars like this:
I did not want the emails from my site to look like this (without gravatar):
So here is, step by step what I did:
Step 1: Logged into the back office of my site using the user email to which I wanted to assign a Gravatar. I clicked “Login Now” as seen in the screenshot below.
Once I was logged into the back office of my site…
