This is only one of a few video tutorials I plan on making about Google Slides. My main intention here is to make you aware of them and their potential for people who might want to use it to create a training presentation of your own for WA, your website or your offline business.

I'll get a little more in depth with the next one for thse of you who may need help with some of the more advanced features

Below is a transcript of the video:

Create Free Powerpoint Slideshows with Google Slides

Even if you don’t have Microsoft Powerpoint in particular, there is a free option provided by Google that you may not be aware of that allows you to create outstanding presentations that you can use for training, attracting new clients, laying out a website, showcasing your ideas, creating photo albums, planning a wedding or party, creating a portfolio, or anything else you can think of.

Also, if someone sends you a Powerpoint template or presentation, Google Slides can open it!

Now, let’s get started…

Sign into your Google account and go to

http://slides.google.com

On the Google Slides Homepage, you’ll see the words “Start a new presentation” and below a selection of templates. You can choose “blank “if you wish to start completely from scratch, or select from:

Wedding, Your Big Idea, Photo Album, or, Portfolio.

For this lesson,I’m going to start with a Blank template.

1. Click on “Blank”

2. Now click inside the text box that says Title and type your title

Let’s call this call this: “Email Vs Snail Mail”

In the subtitle box you can type something like, “Which is Best?”

3. You can make notes about each slide in the text area at the bottom. Only you can see these notes. They won’t show up in your slide show.

4. Now here’s something really cool… you can clike on the icon at the bottom left and choose from different preset layouts for your title page to quickly add some ZING.

5. You can also make your own modifications using the toolbar at the above the slide to import images and even animations or videos if you like.

The Cover page.

So we’re just going to experiment with fonts and formats until we find something we like.

Okay Page two,

we’ll list the pros and cons of

Snail Mail

PROS - More Personal • Not as common as email • More likely to be read
CONS - Much, much slower • Requires postage • Could get lost, damaged or stolen

Page three we’ll list pros and cons of

Email

PROS - Almost instant delivery, Easily stored, Easy to find

CONS - Easily missed by recipient - Could be accidentally deleted -Could easily be hacked

Conclusion Page: And the winner is TIE!

Add Images and transitions

Transitions - Fade, Slide from right, slide from left, flip, cube and gallery

Animations - For animations, highlight an image and choose form the dropdown menu from these choices: appear, disappear, fade in, fade out, fly in FROM the left, right, bottom or top;

fly out TO the left, right bottom or top; zoom in, zoom out or spin

Now of course, Microsoft Powerpoint has many more transitions and animation options, but remember, Google Slides is completely free when you have a Gogle account and there remains so much more you can do with it.

Save and Export options

You can export your finished slide show to your Google Drive, export it as a Powerpoint presentation, embed it on a web page, save it as a PDF, or print it out, among other options. Unlike power point, you cannot export it as a movie or video.

One great workaround is to take a screenshot of each slide with Jing, a free screen capture app, and save them all to a folder. Then import slides into a video editor such as iMovie if you’re on a Mac, or Windows Movie Maker to keep it completely free.

Better yet if you have Camtasia, Filmora or Screenflow you have even more transitions and title effects there. Most video editors will easily export your slide show as an MP4.

I have only scratched the surface with this tutorial. My advice… dive in, explore Google Slides and have fun making great slide presentation!

Your welcome, Jerome. Truth be told, I skimped a little on this. In the follow-ups, I'll delve more into importing pictures,Powerpoint files and other media; also, the various ways to export your slide shows.
