I like to start my searches with Google and after finding keyword phrases people are searching for on Google go to Keyword tools to find out whether my phrases are high ranking keyword phrases.

Today I want to use Google search engine and WA keyword tool to find a good ranking keyword/phrase.

Say, I am interested in Gardening, and I want to find a high ranking keyword in the area of gardening.I know “gardening” is too broad a word so, without wasting time I know that I need a subset of Gardening to start my search.Alphabet soup technique is a good tool for finding phrases.

I see what you are saying, however you are putting this, Google is bringing up relevant pages with the keyword "diet plans" by the tens of thousands. Look for yourself. The KW "diet plans" is in the title and in the body and is incredibly relevant, no matter how deep you go! When you go to the 30th page and the title says "best diet plans" and then in the body..." here are the diets plans"...you are telling me that this is irrelevant? So, if I type "diet plans" and Google on the 30th page has "best diet plans"... this is considered irrelevant? Wow, I really must be missing something. Again if you look at my search results (below) or do this yourself, you will see that the info provided by WA keyword is solar systems off from the supposedly "irrelevant" Google search. This is important for me. I just don't understand how this could be perceived as irrelevant.. Please help. I am really hung up here and it's destroying my confidence in trusting WA or Jaaxy

I believe that the keyword tool is showing those sites that have the word diet plan in the actual url, not just within the body.

There's a lot more to ranking than just how much competition a keyword has. In your example, searching for diet plans lists a site on page 1 that has the keyword "eating plan." There's nowhere on the page where they use the word diet plan, yet it gets a page 1 listing for the search. That site would not be included in the keyword tool search.

All I can suggest is just use the keyword tools as a guide to traffic and possible competition. Try to find some keywords that are longer and narrow down the competition. At the end of the day it comes down to the quality of the site and the content.
