This “extra” module has been written to address a problem I have personally run into with using my Google Plus accounts. The result has been a “re-thinking” of my overall strategy which in turn has changed how I organize G+ and run my day-to-day operations. It is my hope that this Google Plus Traffic Training: Circle Management module will help others avoid this pitfall.

From the Beginning...

Before joining Wealthy Affiliate, I was quite the social media avoider; just a little Facebook, which I didn’t really like very much, and a bit of dabbling in YouTube…nothing major. I didn’t have a current follower to my name! :)

So, when Kyle offered the opportunity to build a G+ account starting with 1,000 of fellow WA members to tap into, I jumped at the chance and made it my #1 social media platform!

At that time, I had no idea about limits and certainly had no thought that I would ever run up against them. After all, I was routinely running across G+ accounts with tens and hundreds of thousands of followers…even a few in the millions!

Don't need no stinkin' limits!

BONANZA! Wrong…those accounts are holdovers from the early “Wild West” days of Google Plus. Currently, there are a number of daily and total limits which are in place for newer accounts and that is unlikely to change going forward in any significant way.

So, let’s look briefly at the main limitations and at how we can manage our accounts to make the best of it.

This is fabulous training.

Just the way I would need it explained.

Unfortunately, I think Google Plus changed things up a bit (as to be expected)

Things are always changing on the Internet!

It seems they have made it harder to follow folks.
It would be so nice if we would have the ability to just scroll over any name and add them to whichever circle we choose.

Kind of like the way Wealthy Affiliate has it now, whereas before you couldn't follow people simply by scrolling over their names.

Instead, on Google Plus, you are made to close out where you are and go straight to the personal profile page and then add them from there.

I liked how simple and exact it was to follow your steps.

I remember when I began Google Plus it appeared to be a bit too unorganized, so I stopped bothering.

But, after reading your training, I'd love to continue using it!!

Here is my Google Plus link :)

I think you have excellent organizational skills.

There are many trainings here at WA which are too outdated and will confuse many new people. It has changed much since I joined in 2014. I know there are some areas to request updated info, but I have a feeling many new folks are not aware of this.

I don't feel qualified enough to address this, but perhaps you can figure something out with the team here at WA.

I certainly can't disagree with anything you've said. The difficulty is in the points & rewards system in that once training is created and recognition is given, then there is no system set up by which the training can be removed without penalties when is gets out of date, other than to replace it or create it as a whole new set of training...either way takes a lot of time and I am on a completely different page now with what I am doing here at WA. Hope to get back to address that eventually, but it make take awhile. :)

The options you point out are not available for me. I got a notification about people I am "following" being put automatically to the following circle, and I cannot rename it. Is this an upgrade to G+? what implementations does this have for limits and followers? I will try to investigate it myself, but if you have a chance to look at it I would appreciate it.

G+ made some more changes recently as well as eliminating the more popular "classic" setup, so I will be re-doing the training as soon as I have the time, so at this time I cannot recommend the old training modules.

Now, with the newer G+, you must add a new person to "following", when that is complete then you click on the word "following" and it will then show a pop-up where you can check and un-check the circle(s) you want that person to be in (you can create circles there as well). :)

Is there any meaning actually getting more +1s? I do not believe the traffic getting from G+. They will just visit the site but organically not having any use.(from my experience). I had websites before and getting 3000+/ month traffic from G+ but with no conversion. So I am not paying much attention to G+ anymore. This was before I join with WA.
So please tell me what is the use of having more G+ +1s?

None of the social media platforms are very good for getting sales conversions...some are a little better than others, but not much.

The one thing G+ offers that the other don't is it can boost the rank of site and posts within Google's search engine, so that people who are searching for you and your products, can more easily find you by searching the keywords. :)

Should I use my personal Google + or create one for my site?
Reply

If your old one is well established with friends and family, then I would create a new one. I prefer to make a personal account and then operate it in a business like fashion.

People prefer to deal with individuals rather than businesses. While the name on the G+ account heading is yours, you can add a cover image that reflects the name and niche of your business. :)

Hi Chris,
This makes sense to me, but it will take a little time to get down the learning curve on the process. My circles are setup according to your instructions; now I have to start +1'ing.

Great system! Thank you

Smart, I was wondering where ya were going with this. Lots of it still seems way over my head, but at the end was a sentence or 2 where it came together.
Think I might have to go over it again a bit however. I'll be seeing arrows and circles in my sleep but.
following the followers of the followed, I can do that

Hey...simply put...move those who interact with you to special folders and interact with them...those who don't interact with you, clean them out of your initial following every so often...this is the system I use to keep things manageable.

Hope that helps. :)

I'm lost here and finding this very confusing, despite spending a lot of time trying to figure it out over the last few days. Personal/ accounts and setting up both and difficulties uploading content. I hope it gets better and easier. It has my head wrecked and is dragging me off course I think from other stuff I'd be at.

Hi...keep in mind that you have 2 high priorities right now...1. following and doing (implementing) the lessons and 2. continuing to post good content regularly to your site...if you are doing these things, then in between these, when you have a moment work on setting up and posting to your social media...when it is time to do the next lesson or write the next blog, drop what you are doing in social media and do what needs to be done, then pick it back up and continue the struggle. That will keep difficulties with social media from getting you off course....yes, it may take a while to get there, but some things just take time. :)

Wow. @JChrisA I had no idea there was such a science to this. But that is all logical thinking that I am assuming is paying off. One question: How much did/do you spend with this in a day?
Reply
JChrisA Premium
It took a lot of time to figure out how I wanted to do it, as there were many people with many different opinions...but, now days, between 4 accounts and 5,000 mutual followers including posting...about an hour a day.
Reply
trkstr67 Premium
Wow. What do you think you gross from that?

Google Plus, and most social media for that matter, is not a great place to sell much of anything...when I say that I mean by participating in it as a "free" user...as a paying advertiser, you can do some pretty neat things with Google AdWords, Facebook ads, etc...Pinterest is the only place I know where freebies can actually translate into solid sales, but Pinterest takes oh so long to build much of a following!

Google+ is about getting rankings, and it is hard to measure that versus other ranking factors, but Jay (magistudios) here at WA has done some experiments and is convinced that Google does indeed give ranking preference in its search engine to those that use G+ often.

Hope that helps! :)
