I recently asked the question; "How do I change from my google+ account to brand account?" This question brought some interesting answers, I have made this short video on Google plus brand pages as I believe many people are not aware that you can have a brand page on your personal Google+ account using the same email address.

Please feel free to comment below, I'm not an expert in Google+ and I'm very much a beginner and still learning with Google+! I'm fairly confident in Facebook, Facebook pages and Twitter that I'm very keen to learn more about Google+ as I know it helps in our website rankings.

Here is the question that I asked yesterday:

And here is a link to a blog post that I have written today:

thank you for reading.

Thanks Roy, this is interesting and had you not mentioned, I would never have seen that tiny Brands link at the bottom of the sidebar. Is this brand page similar to a blog? I am starting to see Facebook note coming out (maybe it has been out for a long time) but my feel is that social media channels such as G+ and FB are seemingly trying to get into the blogosphere by having users blog directly on FB, G+ instead of just posting blog post links on them.

Hey Jude,

The brand Google+ account is exactly the same as a personal Google+ account in that you can have followers, follow others, create groups, and share posts from. It is NOT a blogging platform.

Hey Trish,

Thanks for helping to clarify. I am also a bit confused. After trying to create a Google+ brand page, I realise the two are exactly the same. Any idea what it is meant for?

Like you Jude, I did the same thing; I created my brand page (my business is website development and management) and my personal page. However, it has made life on Google+ a tad painful simply because as most people want to connect with a human being rather than a brand... unless, of course, you own Nikki (or some other such big brand name).

Thank you for running up this video walk through. Now I have some more homework to do. G+ Brand accounts.

Do you guys really think having the Google+ page is better? I use my logo from my site on my Google+ account because I'm trying to brand my site. I've spent so much time building it up because I too am new... Decisions decisions...

I definitely don't think that it can't be a bad thing, especially as it is a Google product, but if you already have your Google+ personal page then maybe you just need to carry on using that possibly? It's always good to keep things simple I believe!

Thank you for commenting.

Thankfully I've just started on the Google+ journey as i'm a complete newbie here so I only lost three new posts from my personal account. I've now created the company page and added those three posts back to it. I know Google doesn't like that but hey, it's done now and I'll slow down to one a day for a while.

Thank you for the information. Glad I saw it before I went any further.

I was wondering about this the other day. I cleared out my Google+ page, deleted the account, and started a new one, hoping to start fresh. But what I really wanted was a company page, like the one I have on Facebook. I'm going to have to go in there again and take another look, now that I've seen this. Thanks for the info!

This could Mark, hopefully, you can start afresh with a company page, I'm not sure what the difference is in the sense of what works best, but I do think it's good to have a brand page to promote your brand.

Ugh, I just started my Google+ page and now I would have to delete it? Lol... I'll go through the training in the am and see what it's about. Thank you!
