Today I want to share with you some details related to Google Analytics bounce rate and a technique that I'm using and testing on one of my sites to reduce my bounce rate.
To be honest I couldn't care less about bounce rate number anymore, but I do care about how long a bounce visitor stays on a page/post. (explained in video)
Please note: this isn't a video tutorial, it's a video I've recorded to share a few things related to this topic. Vlog = Video blog
If you haven't read Dom's post covering Bunce Rate, then please take a few minutes and head over to: Bounce Rate - Do You Need To Care?
Here is the Google Analytics blog post mentions in the video: http://analytics.blogspot.ca/2012/07/tracking-adjusted-bounce-rate-in-google.html

Again this isn't a tutorial, I'm not recommending that you install a time event script or plugin. Ths is just something I'm testing with one of my sites.
But on the other hand for many of us, bounce rate is pointless, so why not set up a time event to better understand how long people are staying on your page.
On my site seen in the video I use "Google Analytics by Yoast", this is by far the best plugin for installing Analytics as it has several other great features.

This really gives us some great feedback about how people are perceiving our content.
And also very important if we are running paid advertising on a particular post.
I'll be uploading the plugin tomorrow morning.
Thanks again,
Todd
when I look at the time on some of my post in analytics, sometimes they are on there for a long time like, 15 minutes, sometimes the average time is 8 minutes, while other post isn't as high.
I would love to add this to see if I could fix something on the posts that have a higher bounce rate and look at what I can improve on. Thanks again for another great training. This was some awesome info!
