Before going any further, note that you may receive a suspension notice not because your landing page is violating their policy but because your ads are which is less of a problem as you just need to:

  • Change your ads
  • Ask for a revision of your ads

Ok now if your landing page is violating Google's policy, the first thing to do before opening your google account and see an awful 0 clicks and a "suspensed account" notice in red with a little but scary red warning sign is the following:

  • Contact them through this form (in the help center) or call them at 1-866-2Google between Monday-Friday, 9am-8pm Eastern Time (you're gonna need your adwords account ID)

I've never called Google. It's just easier for me to explain myself via email (especially for a suspended account matter) rather than by phone but it's totally up to you.

PS: Note that the reason can be a mistake... Jay (magistudios on WA) received an account suspension notice although he had no ads running for about 2 years. He just actually owed them... 4 cents 'cause his credit card has expired. Yes they suspended his account for that! After he called them and paid the 4 cents, they reactivated the account, apologized and sent him a $100 adwords coupon and a basket full of cupcakes. (ok, they forgot the cupcakes... but they sent a $100 coupon!).

So what to tell the Google guys?

Here's how I see things: You don't have time to guess what might be the problem with your landing page so I really think they should be more specific about WHY they are suspending your account. So the email you're gonna send them should follow these guidelines:

  • Show you're not an evil advertiser (Google's motto is "Dont Be Evil" remember?). You need to tell them that you really want to comply with their policy and you need their help in resolving this issue and are ready to do what it takes (don't make any wild promises though, they might have you keep them).

  • They're all about honest decision making but not transparency (my opinion). So you need to simply ask them WHY is your account suspended as you need to have this information in order to take appropriate action and get your account reactivated.

Your willingness to make things right is important. Once they reply to you (they usually do within 24hrs) you'll get a clearer idea of what you need to change on your site.

Now here's a concrete example:

My site has been suspected of being a bridge site so after asking for a clearer explanation from Google, they told they needed me to give more value to my visitors so I sent an email to ask the girl from Google Adwords I had already exchanged a few emails with if it was a good idea for me to add a blog section to my site. I asked if it was going to be enough. She said yes and said she was happy to see how willing I was to solve this issue. And after revising my site, they reactivated it quickly.

Communicating with Google adwords "agents" (? not sure what they are...) is your best option. There are human beings behind that scary account suspension notice. Someone decided to suspend your account and someone can decide to reactivate it. So don't lose all hopes and take action instead. Once the changes are made, ask for a revision and cross your fingers, legs and eye lashes. Everything should be fine.

The following page is really creepy. It's about permanent suspension and whether or not you can trick Google adwords with a shiny new account...

From my experience, "agents" = "power tripping robot-apes."
"Communication" is difficult with the ape-like creatures. They usually answer any question with a canned/scripted response. This article is very correct - you should appeal to their overblown egos in order to get a valuable response. Don't forget, Google's rules are completely gray - and any Google support monkey can bend a rule to allow/disallow any domain at any time.

Here's some gold. My landing page is suspended and I did not know it until I realized I wasn't being charged anymore. After digging around I finally saw that my ad is fine it's the website that's suspended.
Yes, I did try Microsoft and you said it all with one word "crumbs".
So I am hoping I can get my site back in their good graces because Adwords is Awesome and if you don't believe it just sign up for both and compare.

Thanks for the tutorial ... i have been focusing on organic traffic with seo work . It's been slow for me but I realize in the long term I'll be better to learn it instead of playing the google adwords game.
