I had to figure out how to get my website and blog posts indexed because I intentionally kept the box checked 'Discourage search engines from indexing this site' in Wordpress > Settings > Reading > 'Search Engine Visibility'
I needed time to construct the website and get a few blog posts ready before officially launching the website.
Once I set up Google Search Console and Google Analytics I realized that even after unchecking the box in Wordpress I still had a tag in code that said 'no indexing.' I finally got it fixed (under Yoast) only after a few days of wondering why the website still wasn't indexed.
This meant waiting for Google to Index my pages. I am too impatient for that so I searched and found old Google Webmaster Tools instructions to force a crawl. I used the same logic and applied it to the new Google Search Console and realized every page I put in was being indexed immediately!
So, I had to share the step by step instructions with the WA Community!
Check Your Website, Page, or Post in Google Search Console
Before starting this step be sure that you have created a Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) Account and added your website URL as a "property".
1. Log into Google Search Console
2. Click URL inspection in the Left Menu (your website should already show up if you set up your account as a property in Google Search Console:
3. Type in or copy and paste the entire URL for the page you want Indexed in the Search Bar:
4. If you page hasn't been indexed you should see a message stating the 'URL is not on Google':
As for the verification parts and methods after, well I got confused and stuck, so generally need a helpful step by step process, if anyone can help?
