This is the beginning of the whole process is always the most important step regardless of what you're doing. This will set the tone for the rest of your process. What needs to happen here is you must understand what it is you plan on communicating to your audience.

Discovering what your topics are will enable your intended search audience to know "exactly" what it is you're talking about/offering. So therefore, you should take the time out to figure out what your channel is going to revolve around and what you will generally talk about in your videos.

When it comes to YouTube, you have to be very intentional about what you want to talk about otherwise, it won't matter what you do after this, you will lose your viewers if you don't have your topics in order.

Here are some things to think about when gathering topics for your videos:

  • Who is your intended viewer?
  • What are you most knowledgeable about?
  • What are the subtopics on that subject?
  • What makes my perspective different from others in this niche?
  • What is it that you know and other YouTubers in your niche don't know?
  • How do you want to present the information; in front of a camera, on screen tutorial, etc.

The list above is only a reference point and by no means the standard. You can construct and organize your topics anyway you want as long as you have something together as you build content for your video.

Tasks 0/2 completed
1. Write out your topics
2. discover a different perspective on any content that's common
