Today I want to address the proper way to do your keyword research on the free keyword tool here at Wealthy Affiliate.
This tutorial will cover how to research whats in front of your keyword and why you must take a look at all the results including any pages that are in front of your keyword.
What I mean by this is say you look up the keyword or keyword phrase, in this case I am using a phrase for my payday loan site, (see arrow below) you must look at the results that show up past the page results on the view result tab. (see circle below)

I have something to add which is a bit relevant. I am a top contributor to a big authority site about mountains (Peakware). My own site is also on mountains (http://mountainsforeverybody.com).
Now, I make a page and it appears on my own site within Google 1-2 top pages. However, it always competes with Peakware, and the irony is that it competes with MY OWN contributions at Peakware (my own text there about the same mountain). What to do, have to live with this. Jovo

Awesome post Shawn, you are always making some very helpful videos. Really enjoy reading the knowledge that you have to offer. This really explained a lot to me. I now realize that when your page is ranked it is for a particular keyword that you fall under. Your site itself is not ranked, but the rather the content and keywords that it possesses are. This really opened my eyes Shawn! Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of information. And sadly, you did beat Lady May to it :(
