Introduction

Greetings to all from Adelaide in South Australia...

I am on the mailing list with a group called WordTracker and a few weeks ago there was a major announcement by FaceBook and Google that they are going to rid their services of fake news stories.

This announcement has stirred up quite a bit of controversy, especially in USA!

Because there are many tens of thousands American members here at WA, I thought you might be interested to read what was published, especially in light of recent events!

This is relevant to everyone else as well! I hope you find this as interesting as I did!

You might be wondering what has this got to do with us as budding Affiliate Marketers...well, you will find out what my point is at the end!

FACEBOOK AND GOOGLE ANNOUNCE MEASURES TO COMBAT FAKE NEWS!

"Two of the biggest names in digital have launched initiatives to rid their services of fake news stories.

Many social media sites, and Facebook in particular, have come under criticism after the shock US election results, for potentially influencing voters through false news reports. Now Facebook and Google have both announced moves to try and combat fake news being spread on their platforms.

Google was the first to announce that it would ‘imminently’ enact a change in policy which will see it place restrictions on sites publishing fake news stories. Facebook followed suit soon after with its own measures."

Interesting -- Define anyone whose political views differ from yours to be fake news and ban them.

Was the New York Times' reporting of a 98%+ chance for a Hillary Clinton victory fake news?

Hi Bob...thank you for your feedback.

I live in Australia and don't read the New York Times so I don't have an opinion about that! :)

I'm only interested how this kind of stuff (fake news in social media) affects us from an internet marketing point of view!

You're welcome...thanks for your feedback...

There's enough FAKE stuff floating around us all day every day and if Facebook and Google can stop fake news happening that can only be a good thing!
