What Things Do You Hate?
If you are still stuck, try starting with making a list of all the things you hate. The people who do not like and why. The traits that you cannot stand in people.
4. Make a List of all the Traits and People You Hate
What makes you angry? What makes you unhappy? What drives you up the wall? What are your peeves? Write down the movies you will never see and why? Write down all of the books you disliked and why? What TV shows do you hate and have to leave the room if someone turns the television to that show? What tasks do you hate doing? Who was your worst boss and why?
I can tell you my worst boss was a woman named Chris. She was a very detailed-oriented person and extremely organized, but if you take a person like that and make them a manager, they become the Miicro-Manager from Hell and she was. I could not stand that woman. Everything I did was wrong. I like being creative. I like experimenting with different designs and ways of making people smile. I was a software trainer and web designer and she was my boss. She wanted everything to be boring looking and I wanted to put some unique and creative design work into what I did. Nope! Not with that woman. Detailed-oriented people tend to not like creativity. She and I clashed. She also had a mean temper and other workers could hear her hollering at me from across the room.
Think of examples like that of what you experienced and why it was so miserable for you. Make it painful. Make it real. Nobody is going to judge you. The relative you cannot stand, the boss you hated, the people you despise being around. the tasks you dread doing -- think about all of them. They are all connected too.
Try to look for a theme that binds them together.
