Downgrade WordPress Version 5.0 to 4.9.8

As you know I love the new editor but it may not play nicely with some themes and plugins. If your website doesn't look the way you expect after the upgrade, there is a way to go back. It's quick and easy, even for beginners. Watch this 2 minute video.

I don't recommend downgrading the WordPress version. There's a Classic Editor plugin which gives you the old familiar experience.

And there's the Classic block to add the classic editor functions on a block by block basis.

The option here is only for those websites that are not working properly after the upgrade.

Hi Marion,

I'm seriously thinking of using the new WordPress Version 5.0. This is the Gutenberg one??

In your opinion, will the previous version of WordPress still be around or will it eventually be replaced by the new version 5.0?

Will the previous version of WordPress be continually updated?

I don't know if you use or heard of the free Elementor plugin but will it be a conflict with the new version 5.0?

I'm sorry to ask all these questions... I have a new website and actually don't have any posts on it yet. I only have my About Me page using the old WordPress version. I just thought now would be a great time for me to use the new version 5.0. That is the Gutenberg one?

Thank you Marion... I have all your tutorials on the new version.

Any suggestion which tutorial I should now start with?

Kind Regards,
Monica

You should update all your websites to WordPress 5, Monica. Keeping everything up to date is important for security. Make sure to run a backup before updating.

If you want to continue to use the old editor you can install the Classic Editor plugin.

Very helpful training, thank you, Marion. I'll remember this if I need to downgrade my Wordpress version.

Wordpress has recently brought out Gutenberg, a new version of Wordpress. It's a great improvement but I don't like the fact that it has several scroll bars.

Regards,

Dominic

Yeah, those scrollbars take a bit of getting used to.

Marion, If I could, I would give you a big ol' thank you hug! Everything was going along just fine in the "backstage" of my Camer theme, until I updated the latest version several days ago. Once again, many thanks! Your tutorials are so easy to follow; smooth as butter! You surely have been gifted with the ability to teach well.
