Content is the king of the blogging world. No matter how cleverly you choose your domain, web hosting, blogging platform, if you haven’t got killer content you aren’t doing it right.

According to the latest data, approximately 6.7 million people blog on websites in the US alone. With such a huge quantity, how will you make your impact if you don’t adopt the right strategy? Remember that in blogging, there are no “black-hat tricks.” You can hire help.

Let’s start with what you shouldn’t do while blogging.

  • Never write content that contains fluff and filler words or ideas. If you can say something in three words, don’t waste an entire paragraph on it.

Example: Last night I went to a restaurant. Its name was “Black’s Chicken Corner.” It was named after the owner of the restaurant. The restaurant has some great food on its menu. I tried one dish, chicken with lemon. I will try the rest of the dishes some other time.

Correction: “Black’s Chicken Corner,” the restaurant named after its owner, offers some great food. Last night I tried chicken with lemon, I’ll try other dishes as well.

Do not post irrelevant content.

Don’t post irrelevant backlinks.

Don’t advertise irrelevant ads. (i.e. Viagra on an marketing site)

Let’s look at what you should do on your blog.

Regularly update; at least three times a week.

Provide fresh, authentic and well-researched content.

Introduce new and inoovative ideas.

Apply SEO techniques and integrate social media marketing

Keep checking stats with the help of Google Analytics, WordPress Stats, and other tools

GH, I am with you there on waffle sentences. I spend a bit of time trying to un-convolute content on others websites. I do try to avoid it myself but sometimes find, on a later read back, that I am guilty so have to reword. And it is amazing how many people do this even in speaking.

Listening to or reading their stuff often gives me a chuckle. Their words taken literally can be quite ridiculous.

Yes indeed! I feel you there. I personally have a problem with review sites on various products and subjects on YouTube. They rant quite often on there....lol. I know we all aren't perfect but can we at least be mindful...lol

These types of reviews leave me dead and I stop reading or listening immediately. I am definitely not easily swayed. I suppose you could call me an advertising cynic. PS do you have a name or is GH ok?

Thanks this is great. I have a goal of posting twice a week and with my schedule I am having a very difficult time doing that.
