That´s just awesome how each day picking up new things and facts raises my confidence. :-)
I find it very useful when in video presentations you say at certain point, something like :
"But you don´t need to worry too much about this at this point right now, because you can change and adjust this at any time later on." It gives relief of "doing something wrong" or "everything has to be perfect NOW"

Of all the pages that are needed on a website, this one is the scariest one for me. So much so that it has often stopped me from going forward.

It ranks right up there to writing, what we use to call a resume. I have been on disability all of my adult life, consequently, I do not have a list of 'work accomplishments' or skills.

Today this will be a challenge: how to write something about myself that is true and worthy of acceptance in a world full of achievers.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
See it at just that, a challenge, but don't let fear get in the way.

Look at it this way: your About page doesn't need to be a resume of list of accomplishments; it just needs to be about the real you. In fact, speaking about your disability and life experiences open and honestly will endure you to your readers even that much more.

This biggest mistake I see with many websites is that they come across as "fake" or just interested in making money. So be the exception. Treat your readers with respect and I promise they will connect with you at a deeper level than you ever thought possible.

If you need any help with anything, do not hesitate to ask. One of the best benefits with being a member of WA is the huge community of like-minded people, all supporting one another with achieving our dreams.

You can do this!

Why would you post your "About Kyle" as a post and not a page? Could you post as both a page and post so that the about me stays static in one place for new visitors to come and learn about you and the why of your blog without having to search through your blog?
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You are correct. I thought the same thing when I was in this section, but I found if you stick with the lessons, all seems to work out in the end. In a later lesson this is covered and, yes, you will turn this into a permanent page. Kyle explains that the reason for it to be a post first is so Google picks it up quicker (apparently the Big G is a bit slow on the uptake of pages compared to posts, so in a sense it's a way to "beat the system" for faster results.)

Hope this helps.

I must say, there is one thing that I am still wrapping my head around. No, it's not that it's all so difficult or confusing. On the contrary. Thus far Kyle has made it so simple that even an old non-tech guy like me can do it. He says, he shows, I do… it doesn’t get much easier than that.

Hi.I have wrote my first post today but I have failed to publish it.Help me out,I want to move to the next step in training as quickly. And the thing is at the bottom there it is showing that zero on the title part. I think that is why it won't publish.Am I suppose to highlight the titles in black,if so then how do I do it?

got stuck for 2 days editing my "about me page" , My sentence structure for the post got published having instances where only one word appeared for a whole line within the post.I believe this resulted from having edited the post within site content instead of WordP.Help center saved my day by having the post removed and providing me a clean slate within WPress so I could recreate the about me post .Fortunately I was able to have my new post publish to my website upon clicking "update" in WordP editor. All praise be to Help Center.Looking forward eagerly, hoping for smooth sailing

Hey guys I'm not sure why but when I published my privacy policy page, when you click on the link, it appears on the website. However when you click on "Home", I don't see the privacy policy page next to "Home" where it should be. Instead, I still the "blog" tab which I deleted at first to clear the website.

Can anyone please help?

Okay. So massive progress for me today. I've launched my website, got my first "About me" post up and published my privacy policy page and the content publisher is lovely...so much more user friendly and accessible than the wordpress platform. AWESOME! However, on looking at my website I see a heading that says the name of my site and then "Just Another Wordpress Blog". I don't really want that there so how do I get rid of it please?

From your admin panel, using the menu on the left hand side visit the following page:

Settings -> General -> Site Title & Tagline

It's from there that you'll be able to change that :)

Hello, I have got a couple of questions, too. The privacy policy template is different to the one in Kyle's video. I am assuming that this has been updated since the video was recorded and that I am to go with the template that is currently on SiteContent.
At this stage, comments are enabled on my pages - Kyle suggested for comments to be enabled on posts only. How can I disable comments on my pages? Thank you in advance for your help. Edith

Hi Kyle,

Could you please list the specific settings in Wordpress to make sure the blog roll is the Home Page? I believe it is under Settings and the Reading tab. This is where I am stuck right now. Should I choose "Static page" OR "Your latest posts" and if it's supposed to be Static, then what do we choose from the "Home page" and "Posts Page" drop-downs?

Your help will be much appreciated!

Thanks, Kyle, I have just finished watching the video, really enjoyed the step by step instructions. I have some questions, please.
1. I have decided to use a paid domain, so, How can I transfer my site content from rubix to my prospective domain site.
2. Concerning email address on the 'Privacy and Policy Page', I once add a google domain email before I joined WA, Can I still use it? The new site I am building now is related to the weight loss for women niche but the Google domain email address is related to general health and wellness.

3. I would like to change the title of my website, How will I go about it, please ?

I have published my privacy policy as a page, and I see that there is a place for others to make a comment. I need help fixing that.

And, I cannot find the NOINDEX and NOFOLLOW boxes to check.

Those are the two concerns I need help with before moving on. I am so close!

Go to Dashboard in Wordpress - Pages - Privacy Policy - Edit Page - Then if you scroll right towards the bottom you will see NOINDEX and NOFOLLOW boxes.

Make sure you have the All in one SEO plugin installed. Hope this helps..

Well I started in the wrong direction but I kept my idea for the name of the domain with a kinda broad perspective but open enough for any niche really. Then after these classes I found exactly what I've been truly passionate about today doing some dropshipping research and i manufacture wooden boxes like i can sell on this site it really tied all my niche business ideas together as one full effect. I've added both the about me post as well as the privacy page, but the privacy page doesn't seem to show up as a page that I can click on anywhere. If I do a search, it is found so I know it's there but just wondering if I did something wrong that's causing this. Shouldn't the title show up somewhere on the front of page of my website so I can click on it without searching "Privacy" in order to see it?

I managed to figure it out. I just went into the back office part of the program and found where the difference was between the page I COULD see, and the one that didn't show up. It's a setting for that page. I apologize, since I fumbled my way into it, and have only done it once, I can't really explain it thoroughly, but if you just go in to the back office, start poking around, you'll figure it out. Good luck and hang in there! Also, thanks for the reply! :)

Thanks Kyle, just had a question:You said the About page should be about you.I seen other information other than Wealthy Affiliate, that says the About page should be about the customer more than you.Just a little confusing to me, I know it should relate to your niche, which mine is baseball memorabilia.

Also, just had the same situation as another person below me where a warning came up when I published saying that my content was found to not be completely unique?? I wrote it all myself so not sure what to do? How can I know what to write that will be 100% unique compared to every other site on google? Seems a little impossible. Do I just publish anyway?

Ok, I really need some assistance. I'm loving the program so far, however I'm a little confused.
So I did what Kyle suggested and went to amazon to find a niche and settled on Artwork/decor for childrens rooms.

Now I know that I can't actually become an affiliate for these products until I have a lot of traffic and the way to do that is through posting etc. But how many posts can I make about childrens artwork?

I started to make the goal heading of my first post about "providing a one stop shop for childrens artwork and decor etc etc" then remembered, I wont actually have anything to sell yet.

For example in the niche video where Kyle shows us the Snack Helmets site, how many posts could the owner of that site possibly have written in order to get traffic to his site without any affiliate links to actually buy them?
Reply
Daesmith Premium
Can you explain your question a little further? What do you mean by "get traffic to his site without any affiliate links to actually buy them?" Are you saying we don't get links until later? If so my page is not going to work... I am very confused.
Reply
mbrasseau Premium
I'm certain that the tutorials will cover this.

As for content, consider aspects of children's decor. Then write about it. Fashions, effects, etc.

There's plenty to write about it.
Reply
vmolly6886 Premium
It appears that will be covered in future training. He has broken all the training down into segments. There would be no use in putting affiliate links in before this training and set up

I created and published my site as a page for a reason. I built the site around product/service of which I'm a reseller.

It's not intended to be a site for interaction nor is it a capture page. It is meant to direct viewers to pages with my affiliate links.

Those pages will have all of the content needed to get the message across and calls to action done.

So I've intentionally avoided setting up as a post, privacy page, and SEO (since that would be covered by the creator of the product/service). Should I reconsider doing this differently?
Reply
mbrasseau Premium
If you already know how it should be done, then why are you here?

I think we will be more successful if we follow the training. THEN once we know what we are doing, we can tweak and adjust. Right now, we do not know what we think we know. Or we'd already be doing it. ;)
Reply
vmolly6886 Premium
Yes. Without the SEO and posts, google yahoo and bing will not be able to index you to show your product in their searches. You want people to view your site and use your affiliate link to get to the product. That is how you get paid.

That video certainly clarified the mystery in website structure for me, especially regarding the Privacy Policy page.

The text editors are going to be beneficial to me as they will allow me to focus on my content and not become distracted by the placement on the page or post.

I'm looking forward to browsing the millions of images as well.

Thanks Kyle, I liked your presentation. It was thorough, engaging and very helpful.

Hello! I was wondering about the portion of the video where you mention always putting up content as a post instead of a page (aside from the privacy policy). I had originally planned to set up my site with a standard home page which then linked to other pages with individual products and descriptions. You mentioned that Google likes it when you put things up as posts because it makes your page look active, if I set it up with pages instead will it hurt my rankings? Can I perhaps just have a running list of the newest articles I've published on the home page which then link to an individual product page? Thank you, in advance, I hope to hear from you.
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Everything you're describing can be done with posts :) Your blog roll would be that running list of newest articles which can link to other review posts with products and descriptions. You could also link to pages as well. The only difference between a post and a page is that a page is like a "sticky" post that doesn't show up in your blog roll and needs to be nested in a menu.

Reply
llj-tucson Premium
Hi Valerie,
As the owner of the site, the data protection officer would be you. Enter your first name and the address for the email account that you created for your website.

The URL for your privacy policy will typically be: YourSite/Privacy-Policy.

If you publish the page on your site, the URL is what appears in the address bar at the top of that page.

Hope that helps.

Kyle has an updated post on this:
GDPR Compliance. Our Official Take.
For GDPR compliance regarding autoresponder, from what I can see so far, you just need to write in your own words, what is collected, how it's used, and how to opt out.

If your friend is collecting emails, just state exactly how he collects them, what he uses them for, and where to contact him to be removed from the list.

But as I am not using that feature yet, I mean the autoresponder, I´ve just deleted that section out of the page. That could do it?

Reply

Yeah, that is because it is duplicate which is completely fine. Don't worry about that at all. You will just be making the small changes to the website URL and your email as indicated in the video, but this and the affiliate disclosure page (which you will be adding later) are the only ones where it is OK to have duplicate content.

As you build out your website, you will be building out your content naturally and it will be unique to you.

You are doing great Daniel!
