If you can create readable content, you are going to be a successful marketer. Most people simply fail because they do not follow the six rules of creating quality content online. These include:

(1) Small Paragraphs
(2) Separate Your Ideas with HEADING Tabs (h3 or h4, read post)
(3) Black or Dark Grey text on white background
(4) Use conversational speak
(5) Use a captivating headline
(6) Use a relevant image within the first fold of the page

In this video I am going to walk you through the process and show you pages on my site. Here are the referenced pages that I cover within this video.

Cool lesson @Kyle. Question. How do you create your how-to videos? What tool do you use to capture your actions?
Reply

Kyle is probably using screencast (Apple products) Camtasia is another screen capture/video editor that many folks use.

There are videos as you have seen but there is also text accompanying the videos. The text contains most if not all of the information included in the videos, so be sure to read all the text so you don't miss anything. The videos are very useful though so if you can, try to watch as many of them as possible.

Do you have any suggestions to fix this

before you insert your image to your post or page first scroll down you are going to see some thing with an option ''ALIGHN''
now this ..when click shows you the option which is

none
with that you can choose

I would check to be certain that your margins on your writing page are not centered. You will see the icon highlighted if it is and be sure to leave your cursor where you want the actual image to be placed. Hope this helps.

If we want to do some 'show' on our website, what is the best tool to use to capture us working on our computer? It needs to follow our cursor and movements as well as record voice. Also, what about also adding in some whiteboard information also.

What do people here recommend?

You have to be careful using snag it or any other screen capturing software. Using photos without permission is copyright infringement. I have found that doing a search for Free photos of _____ , or going to a royalty free site has been beneficial. Of course royalty free photos cost money, but you can find some packs of good photos if you look. Try pond5 or photoden. There are many folks just starting in photograpy that will either give you a free license or give you a great deal. I hope this helps.

amazing about BIM, since 95% of the folks in Empower make under 4K/year. The really great thing is that so now after giving them $5,122 [this seems to be missing something] ^ ?
you can pay some more to fly to Hawaii

others with their needs. Big Idea Mastermind was according to the creator Vick (dreamed up during his weekend incarceration at the county jail) {and} I think it is designed to thrive on the ill-informed and naive with cash to spend.

you should put the () and leave out the {}or you could leave it out altogether
Very nice article and keep up the good works
Reply
Ergonomic Premium
You really nailed BIM and you chose your pictures wisely. l would suggest you break up your content into small paragraphs especially paragraph 1 (the overview). You may consider placing your pictures to the right side of the text as was said in the previous lessons, people read from right to left and they are put off if there are any inconsistencies between the text and what is in their cognitive maps. l will be grateful if you could have a look at my landing page. Some proofreading will be highly appreciated http://bestbusinessinternet.com/.

Kyle, I really liked the lesson on content, the point about 'readability' resonates with me. I had not been using the header tags to draw the eye in my post. I will pick up on that.
One quesetion tho'. You did not cover how you are 'flowing' your text around an image or page capture. Is that available in the basic text editor or is it a plug-in?
Reply
crp2511 Premium
DuaneT, when you click on the image inside your text, it shows two symbols at the top right of the image, click the edit symbol, here you can set the image to left, right, center alignment that will wrap the text around it.

Thanks crp2511, I will try the symbols.

Hi Kyle,
This helped me a lot. I'm glad I stumbled across this lesson. I do have a bad habit telling more about the product I sell than really showing the benefits of it. I may have to review this lesson several times until I really get it. It's not hard, but it's another thing to get this lesson deep down into your psyche.

Kyle,

Very insightful, I do have a tendency to tell not show, I guess kindergarten did have it right, Show & Tell not Tell and Tell some more. We are visual creatures, especially we males.

Thanks, off to another bizzy day of re-writing my content!

A good thing, I think,

Hey James
Writing content takes practice. The key is to keep it really simple and in a conversational manner, as if you are speaking to a friend. Also, when you find websites yourself that are intriguing, pay attention to the style and the manner in which the pages on that website are written. Then you can emulate that.

If you really get stuck on content in the beginning, there is always the outsourcing route but personally I think you are better off learning how to create content yourself. Trust me, it really does get easier the more you do it.

Best Regards,
Jim

Hi, thought I'd start digging into this lesson because I can't figure out how to access the H3 and H4 tags nor change text colors. To my surprise I found my dilemma. "When I access my edit pages of my website, the navigation bar beneath the (BOLD) AND (Italicized) is not there. I'm missing the FORMAT/UNDERLINE/A=COLORS etc., and can't seem to find out how to get it." Help!

You will need to click the expand menu button. You will get more details on this within the walk-through of the Wordpress Editor. I think you should check this out Denise as it will add a lot of clarity:

Hi Mobius,
I looked at your site. I don't have mine up yet, but I have the frame work. Your About Me page doesn't introduce you, build confidence show you care. I would only highlight the About Me. To a beginner, it looks like a typo. Financial freedom is not the primary goal of Wealthy Affiliates as I understand it, it provides the training so you can be confident in building and promoting your own website.
By the time they get to the banner, they should already have confidence in your leadership to get them to understand what they need to do, what they need to know, and how they can best attain the goals they seek.
This is not to put you down, at least you have your site up. Angel Mose says, "Never give up on a good thing unless it's too good to be true." Good Luck!

Personally, I recommend that you make your home page your blog roll and not a static page as well.

I know right now that you don't have a ton of blog content, but as you build out your website going forward this is going to lead to your website appearing to be current at all times (as you always have fresh content there) and this can also lead to better rankings in Google.

Other than that though, I think you are off to a great start Christian!

needing to add images do I need to write much more on my about me page? I think I may need to add some more on the getting started though. And are the headlines I made tags or how do I make them tags? Could you look at my sites and tell me what you think? My domain Is: http://myclickbankaffiliateprograms.siterubix.com/

One thing that I always recommend is to "show" people more within your content instead of just "telling" them. By this I mean that you should not just let them know about something, you should walk them through a process. Help them. Use screenshots or images to represent what you are talking about.

This will lead to a much more enjoyable user experience and will also lead to much higher conversions.

Overall though, you are off to a good start with your content :)

I try to avoid it, it can really detract from you site if you are using them too often. You can once in awhile, but use other people's videos sparingly.

if you click on the show kitchen sink it will give you the second bar, it's located under the add media where you can click th B for bold print and do your alignments at the very end of that row there is one that says show kitchen sink. That will give you the second row that your looking for. I hope this helps.

All the same options are available within an editor when creating a post as a page. It is the exact same editor, except a post you typically have a few more options.

I don't know if you figured this out yet, in your WordPress editor, there is a button called the Show/Hide Kitchen Sink (which is the last button on the bar) or you could hit the Alt + Shift + Z keys together to toggle the option. Then you'll see a drop down with the first option called "Paragraph". When you drop down the options you the various headings (1-6). That will create the <H> tags for you.

Thanks Kyle, very helpful information as always. Question: In your example of a keyword making sense, if the keyword "how find keywords" meets the criteria, but there is nothing listed for "how to find keywords," does adding the "to" negate or change the competition and traffic numbers?
Kip
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes, it will. Always check the data on the keyword that actually makes sense. You would never write an article "how find keywords" so that would not make sense and the data with the word "to" in it will give you an idea of what your real competition actually is.

Okay, I see why perhaps, some my content doesn't go over very well. I have a tendency to tell folks about things. I will do my best to follow the advice on here. There's one thing from school which many of us have passed off...

Remember "Show & Tell?"

We had this, and when I went through this lesson, that was the very first thing that came to mind.

Another thing that struck me about this is that I am failing to talk to my audience. I tent to use the third person rather than the second. Ouch!!

Thank you Kyle for a lesson well-done! Now I'm ready to go back and do the rest of the lesson & assignment.

Cheers!
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, exactly. If there wasn't someone there to "show" the object, then it would be telling which would be far less interesting wouldn't it. That is why people on your page will find a show & tell approach much more interesting.
