Hello, Kyle,
I just got my computer back today and It sure is nice to be back. It's defiantly time
to move forward and not dare look back. I updated my profile and feeling much better now and I have a little more confidence in myself.
This video was straight to the point and you did a very good job exsplaining It
In great detail and very understandable. Thank you, Kyle.

Now that I watched the video about building a website, I have some questions and really I need some 1-2-3 (in Layman's terms) answers, because I am "NOT" fluid at "Computer Tech" Langues.
So here is my Question(s), I have a Website and a Landing Page for my eCommerce affiliate Business, how/where do I put either or both?
Reply
Bryan8 Premium
Fred, I think a little more clarification is needed. What do you mean by, "how/where do I put either or both?" The obvious answer would be that you put it on the web via a webhost, such as here at WA, but I suspect that you already know that, so where are you lost?

Did you design your site here?
Is it in WordPress?
Is it a siterubix subdomain or a dot com that you purchased elsewhere?

The process of a building a website here at WA is very straightforward. It literally takes 30 seconds, something that took me over 30 days when I started out. That shows just how much technology has progress in the last decade. :)

I am SOOO confused!! I feel like I'm trying to bat my way out of a paper bag!! I don't understand what I'm supposed to be putting on my webpage. People keep saying build content towards a landing page but I do not know what that means. Where can I find examples? I feel like I'm going to have a melt down. Was hoping to get this webpage finished today since I work the rest of the week long hours but I can't comprehend general instructions. I need specific details so I can see exactly how number 1 is put together and then leads to number 2 and exactly what these look like. HELP!!

Have you written your about me page yet?
Which lesson are you having trouble with?
Reply
Dalkren1 Premium
I'm at the SEO page so I haven't written my about me page yet. I'm not sure what I want to use the page for in terms of my niche. I just want to sell items that have to do with my niche but it's not like I can put a page together with all kinds of links to products having to do with my niche is it? For instance, I'm the kind of person who when I make a phone call, don't like to entertain with a bunch of chit chat....just want to get to the purpose of the call so it seems like the webpage is the chit chat making people feel comfortable before diving deeper into the conversation and I'm just wanting to get to the point. I don't know how to develop content to entertain them before getting them to click on my links and make money. Do I have a wrong concept of this?

It seems that at this stage, you may be trying to overthink things and are overwhelming yourself in the process.

You are at the point where you are starting to lay the foundation for your site so that you will be ready to start writing content in future lessons.

In the next lesson, you will be writing your about me post where you will briefly be writing a little something about yourself, why you chose the niche and what you hope to accomplish with the site and then your privacy policy which is just a standard page that you will be modifying with your site info, real easy.

Remember that as you move forward, you aren't really going to be selling anything.
You will instead be writing informative and helpful content and probably be doing product reviews, giving your opinions and making recommendations then referring them to the site that will do the actual selling.

With all of that said, just follow the training step by step and complete each task as you come to it and in time you will start to see the bigger picture.

The training was designed that way to help you build your business the right way without the need for being overwhelmed and, when you have questions along the way, someone here will help you out

This is all going to become much more clear as you move through the training. The content that you will be building on your website will be relevant to the niche you choose and any given niche can have 10,000's of different topics that you could potentially discuss.

I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video: Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content that targets relevant keywords
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, etc!)

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Karren. :)

Hey Karren, it did make me smile when i read your trouble - i know i'm not supposed to but i had to.
I am an engineer, but trying my hand at affiliate marketing, so from this i am use to being able to come up with a solution to problems.
It is frustrating when people will not tell you, youput this piece before this piece and that will do this, but - you knew that was coming- the internet and peoples behaviour does not work like that - if it did the big guys would have picked up on it and exploited it - and they probably have.
I am more used to writing manuals where i put in
1.0 introduction .....
1.1 the y machine is a machine which does this ......
You will need to learn how to type like you chat with people, start recording what you ay with friends - ask them first- and then type it out and see how it feels - it does take time toget used to and youmight get frustrated with your typing speed - i still am and are looking into speech to text software to speed me up - as kyle did when he broke his hand.
Hopefully you can see my style has changed a little and can almost hear a conversation going on - albeit a one sided one.
But yes it is all about building relationships online to problem solve and not about just selling.
It will take time but stick at it and as long as you enjoy it, it becomes fun. it can be really frustrating at times, when you break your site for no reason!!!
You learn a lot - and there is a lot to learn so don't expect ot pick it all up in a weekend.
take your time and learn the fundamentals well and you can then go into any niche and learn about it, setting up a site and solving a problem which will reap its rewards .
just remember it is all about them - they don't give a stuff about you, they want a solution to their problem and hope your page has it - nope - ok click away - try somewhere else.It is as instant as that as people expect everything now.
On the other side you are waiting weeks for google to recognise that you have produced quality content and solved a massive problem and deserve to be on page one! so learn patience and persistance.youwill need both.
I hope youhave fun with it

Ok, so that is a whole different perspective on this than I thought. If I'm not an expert on anything specifically, then I'm not sure how to move forward. I'm stuck on the home title and home page description cause I don't know how to use my page now.
Reply
Dalkren1 Premium
Thank you Phil. I'm not offended that it made you smile. I tend to think more analytical and I appreciate how you described the "not all about you, it's about them needing a solution to a problem etc.". I enjoy solving problems but I guess I didn't think it's something that you design a webpage around unless it's a problem a lot of people are having. This is definately a road block for me as I don't know how to proceed. I wanted to sell gardening items because I love gardening but I can't say I can solve anyone's gardening issues....usually it's me looking for advice on it...lol. I probably should take a break from trying to do more on this today as it's taken my entire day so far and I haven't been able to get this very far along cause I just don't know how I'm able to help someone else. I just thought I would be learning how to market things for businesses and such.

You will become an expert in time as you research and write about your niche so, in essence, you are setting yourself up to be a future expert.

Your home title can be the name of your site

The description can be something like "name of site" is a site dedicated to being the ultimate resource for "whatever your niche is"

Of course, that is a simplistic example and you would embellish a bit beyond that

Below is a list of sample descriptions that may be much better than what I tried to do off the top of my head lol

ok so you want to promote gardening equipment, why did you buy them? what problem did they solve for you
If they solved it for you, they will solve it for others, so write about it. But put it in a way that they have the problem and this will solve it for you.
It doesn't matter that you are not an 'expert' as long as you are prepared to learn about it. you can stay one step ahead of newbies who are reading little snippets of what you are writing and they increase their knowledge through you.
don't let this be a road block , seroiusly it is not.
plan out what you want to sell and find what problems they will solve then find the people with the problems and you are there!! it's as easy as that - if you find it easy then come back and teach me how to do it!! lol
it might be worth using something like xmind as a mind map as youcan play with it as much as you want to - i will be doing an article about thi v soon on my blog.
You are learning how to market to consumers rather than businesses, the techniques are similar but why would youmarket gardening items to businesses?
don't give up and don't do too much at once there is too much to take in at the start, let it sink in.
As you are a free member remember where you clicked through from and go back there and hassle them for inf - you will lose your writing rights after a week but you can still continue onwards with your free sites.
try and look around for other member sites and grab their addresses as well - or facebook
is it worth it - well if you don't have to ba a slave to the alarm clock and work when you want to, does that sound attractive? to get to that stage is a long haul and hard work - sorry - there are no push button sytems which give you free money - they will either take time or money - or both!.
this one takes time, but is a skill you can use for the rest of your life and pass onto the children if they will listen.
sorry it's getting long again, but as i said stick with it- let it sink in. You can do this and create a blogwhich you are proud of and people visit. if you are successful in the garden you are better than some people and the ideas and information passed onto you can all be put onto your blog- youmay even have guest bloggers in the making.
so look at what you are going to promote and see a common thread and youcan do this, it will not be done in a week. but being here is a start - get a site setup and get writing as soon as poss. only practice will get you better - that#s good english!
the main thing is to have fun and take breaks

So, wasn’t wanting to sell equipment but smaller stuff and not sell to businesses but for businesses. I guess I’m taken back to the example of the football Snack helmet example in our beginning training videos and this is where I thought I could find a niche of something I liked and promote products that were in my niche. Like what did the football snack helmet solve for someone? It was a unique item being featured but how do you build a webpage to promote just 1 item like that? I would think you would promote several items on a page to make better use of time and maximize the chances of multiple sales. I guess I’m wanting to have a page like the football snack helmet page we were shown but don’t know how to make that happen. Do you know what I’m referring to?
Reply
feigner Premium
yeah i know the football snack helmets micro niche site - looks good doesn't it
Jay has 15 plus years of internet marketing behind him and he makes it look so easy.
is there opportunities like that now - yes but you will have to go through about 50 sites before you find it - i am after one of those - set it up in a weekend and leave it making me money.
ah the thought of it. sorry dreaming, no seriously they are available and will make a little money but you need to know what goes on behind the scenes with backlinking strategies - i haven't looked at it yet but will . also with googles latest update these types of sites are getting harder to get ranked - google is now after quality content for the visitor and a lot of it, so thin sites are not ranking nor are sites with a lot of affiliate links on each page.
You can try it and see what happens.
Personally i would follow the training and see where it gets you.
If you find a get rich quick way then market it - everyone wants it

just had a quick look and there are over 100 follow backlinks - a lot from here and other high authority sites - s owhat you see as the face is only a small part of setting one of these sites up - sorry to burst any bubbles you have - if it was that easy everyone would have 5 or 6 of these and retire

Perhaps this will help you a bit. For your about me, just let people know who you are and why you are creating your site.

Be honest and just be yourself.

Sometimes it helps to pretend you are talking to your best friend about what you are doing.

There is a template for your about me page in the Site content area. You get to this by clicking on the SiteRubix menu item and scrolling down to click on Site Content. Then pick Templates at the top of the page.

Hi everybody. Need some feedback. I have decided to promote the Wealthy Affiliate Program for my niche. I have the domaine name http://www.wealthyaffiliatesonline.com parked at Go-daddy.

Would this be an advantage to use it???? I have 12 other domains parked at Go-daddy but this one seemed the most likely. What are your thoughts?????

It comes down to whether or not Kyle & Carson would allow this. Generally speaking, it's never a good idea to build a website on a domain name containing someone else's trademark. They can take ownership of the site any time they want.

Also, make sure to read the article I sent you in your WA Bonuses about going the WA Bootcamp route vs. OEC.

I think the best thing to do first is to transfer your domain to Siterubix. Here's a link to it.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains/transfer
Reply
Kyle Premium
I wouldn't recommend using Wealthy Affiliate, the trademark, within your own domain. It isn't because we are particularly stringent on this, rather it is because it can present two immediate issues with your business moving forward.

(1) You cannot brand yourself because you have someone else's trademark in your domain name.

(2) It immediately makes you look biased, so if you are planning on promoting WA it can make this much more difficult.

When you choose a domain, you are going to want to choose something that is "brandable" versus something that has keywords within it. The reason this is the case is because as you build out your website, you can target as many keywords as you like within the content (that is how you will rank).

I have created a discussion here outlining the process and what to look for when choosing a domain name: This should help you out here and if you ever want to run any domains by me, simply let me know and I will give you some feedback.

I already own a domain name with Go-Daddy. I understand that I can use this already owned domain name when I become a Premium member.

Q: Can I sync the free domain here at WA with Go-Daddy later?

My concern is that my Go-Daddy already reflects my niche and I do not desire to have more than one domain name for it. I don't want to confuse the traffic.

Welcome to WA.

Yes, if you already have a site hosted at GoDaddy, you can import the content and use WA for the hosting if you choose when you take advantage of the Premium membership.

If you just own the domain name and haven't already started building your site, you can build your site here.
Reply
Kyle Premium
And eventually you definitely want to use the hosting here over GoDaddy, it is far more advanced.

The Managed Wordpress hosting you have access to here at WA is matched by very few hosts in the industry in terms of quality, security, speed, and support. It definitely is not a budget host like the other shared hosting companies out there. The hosting you get here at WA is comparable to $250 per MONTH hosting packages.

You can learn more about it here:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/hosting/

You can host up to 25 of your own domains and 25 free .siterubix.com websites on your Premium hosting platform here at WA.

There are literally 1,000's of different directions that you can head within the health niche. Are you talk about shin splints, lower back pain, or congenital heart disease, or...etc.

Lots of different directions you can head and you can surely narrow things down a little bit here.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Can I introduce general content about the world of combat sports or does the site have to remain solely on the topic of hygiene?

Sure, you could definitely head in that area if you wanted. You could also choose ONE of these combat sports, and then hygiene could simply be topics that you talk about within that.

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.
So clarerubel don't feel silly, regardless of continuing to learn how to add content the above statement is a little misleading as the site is not fully operational and profit ready until such time content is added.

WA has done it again!

Another very informative video. As I was watching questions popped into my head but then it was as though my mind was being read because my questions got answered.

Building a website is so easy now - when I first started dabbling with websites many years ago we had to learn to code html.

With this system a cave man who has just crawled out of the jungle and never seen a computer could build a website.

Yeah learning how to code it is not fun (and no longer needed). We always say that if we build something that are grandparents couldn't use, then we need to rethink it as that is the "design" that should be implemented within anything these days.

Hey guys, hope you're all having a wonderful day! So, I just went throught the Building your own niche website lesson and I need to pick out a theme. I was wondering if some of you have experience with tutoring websites and which theme(s) would be most suitable for this? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance guys, you all rock! I'm getting more and more excited :)
Reply
TDBauer Premium
I would strongly suggest making a list of things you know a lot about, such as a hobby. When writing blogs on a website you own it is MUCH easier to write about something you know a lot about. If you pick a theme you know little about, you are going to spend a lot of time researching and that slows down the website building process.

The more content (posts) you have, the better chance you will have to make money. If you know a lot about your theme, it will easier to write about it, and you will be able to add more content on a routine basis.

So I would make a list of ten things you know a lot about, are passionate about and can include hobbies. Then research the product or products that are related to those things you wrote down on your list. See if there is product you write reviews about related to those interests you have... and go from there.

Many people fail because they start out trying to choose a niche they think will make them money, but one they know little about. They struggle and give up. Picking something you love and know a lot about for your first website or two will give you a much better chance at success.

Choose a theme that is simple, ideally with a white background and black text (as this is the most readable).

I tend to avoid themes with too many bells and whistles as the focus of your website will be your content and your content will make your website look visually appealing to your audience.

So choose something simple, yet elegant and if you ever need to change down the road, you can easily do so within Appearance => Themes.

There are over 3,000 to choose from there and you will also be able to upload your own from there.

I have created some training on how to do this that you should check out:

Once someone becomes a premium member, will the websites published as a starter member be upgraded with all of the premium tools? Also, will companies such as Amazon approve a starter website into their affiliate program, or do we need to become a premium member and get our own domain name first?

Hi, yes when you become a premium member you get all the tools you need and more!

Most affiliate programs require you to have your own domain. You can promote WA via a free website but to have a really successful business in the future you're going to need to be a premium member and your own domains, in my opinion.

I currently have a capture page made in Wordpress that is using the domain I would like to use for my page here. I also want to have a specific link to that capture page for anyone interested in that specific product. How do I go about transferring my Wordpress capture page here, and do I just give it a subdomain name then?

Why not just transfer your site here and solve all the problems in one go.

What if you make a free website and it's successful or has potential, would your ideas or domain name get taken before you get a chance to purchase your own domain? Also once you're ready to purchase a domain do you have to build a whole new site? Or can you just change the name of your first free site? Basically just take out the "siterubix" and just have .com
Reply
BobBarr Premium
It can be very difficult to purchase the same domain name as you have for your siterubix subdomain name. In many cases, you'll find that the domain name is already registered and you'll need to come up with another one.

The siterubix platform has a "Move" function that will copy your entire siterubix site to a purchased domain with one click. The name of the purchased domain doesn't matter for that function to work. It will move any free domain's content to the new domain.
Reply
Thanks, very helpful, so is it just hard in general to get the name you want on your own domain? Also is a siterubix site really efficient and secure enough to run a good site generating revenue? Or is getting your own domain always really going to be necessary eventually?
Reply
anja1111 Premium
Hi there! You could always park a domain that you want, later on you can move it to WA, and then move your site rubix to your domain. It can all be done. Indeed you can move your site rubix to a new domain at WA and all pages will be forwarded to it, it will also tell Google about it, so you have no duplicate content issues. So once you did that, leave the site rubix website there for at least a month or so, so that Google knows where your new website is. All done for you, it's a wonderful thing!

Remember that any website has potential. You create the potential. You can make anything profitable, if you do an excellent job in providing great service and solutions to your visitors!

I wish you great succes at WA! ☼

In answer to your second question: yes having your own domain name is essential for your rankings in Google! And it's better for your visitors, they take you more serious if you have your own domain name. You can run a website in site rubix of course, it's secure and it has the basics you need. But running your own domain is much better. Highly recommended. It's worth the investment to go premium :-)
Reply
Thanks so much for that

If I'm adamant that my site is going to be successful would you recommend starting it in my own domain? Or starting on a free siterubix to be safe and then move it to my own domain once it begins to pick up?
Reply

Start with a free site, get your grounding and then once you are ready, move to your own domain. You can get your own domain out of the gate if you like, but you will need a Premium membership to hot your own domain.

We have a MOVE feature that you can use to easily transition a free .siterubix.com website to your own domain.

I'm a old web developer and designer. This is so easy, and yes, gone are the days for hiring someone like me! Thus, I am here!

Pay per click was something I did for my own Ecommerce business (Circa 1999-2007) and spent a ridiculous amount of money each year with Google. But I also did the original version of affiliate ads reversing the process of spending to earning on my domains. I had a ton of domains and several had top ratings in Google organically. So, I simply inserted the codes for ads and the first year without even trying I made $4,000 with an initial input of about 2 days online.

But it was labor intensive and I hosted my own domains etc. I soon abandoned that gig for a full time web developer position in the "real 9-5 job...ugh).

This process offered appears to be so far, like a cakewalk for anyone with a desire to put in a little time. It's all pre built - like buying a house already built and having it dropped on a piece of land! Skip the carpentry and hard labor! Can't wait!

Yeah, times have changed and the efficiency in which you can build beautiful and highly advanced websites has truly changed.

Things that used to take months now can be done in days and as time goes on, we are going to continue to simplify things in ways that no other hosting co or website platform is doing.

Lots of exciting shifts coming in 2018 that will only continue to advanced our already advanced platform.

Hi Kyle, so here is a question. I am considering to transfer the hosting of my Dutch website (a .nl domain) to Wealthy Affiliate. Right now I build the entire html etc. myself. It looks okay, people love it, but it can look much better. So I could start in site rubix, transferring all my website pages there with the exact same page url name they have right now (like example.html, etc.) and then when that huge job is done, make sure my domain name is linked to the make over version? I don't want a lot of down time okay ;-) Even better: no down time because I have a lot of dedicated visitors that would be in shock if it was all offline... I want all the pages to have the exact same name, because they are already well ranked in Google, so no changes there! What would be the best strategy to work with?

And yes, as a start I'm going to create a brand new international website as well :-D I already researched and found a great and very short .com domain name :-D Is it better to first start building in site rubix and then later on link the domain name? Or register the domain name right away and hide it for google for a while till I have a number of lovely articles etc. published?

My mind is spinning a bit, but I really like this new adventure! I hope my questions are clear to you, if not just ask! Thank you for reading!

If it is just pure html, I guess you could create a dummy site at WA.
Then using ftp or FileZilla transfer the pure html files over from your old host over to your WA hosting. I think your dot htaaccess file needs an entry so that if someone visits say thewebsite dot com, that the default html file opens up.

Using pure html means you have to build all your webpages from scratch, whereas using Word Press, the look and feel of the website is in the Word Press Theme, so it is easy enough to change the look and feel without 'destroying' the content.

Play around with the Site Rubix way of using the WA site builder, develop a small test site first and play around. Using WA with WP means that the WP theme takes care of a lot of things regarding the look and feel of the website and on different platforms (pc / smartphone / ipads ) whereas using pure HTML you would have to build each webpage separately.

Once you are familiar with this way of doing things, you will see what a time saver it is compared to using pure HTML.

Hi David, yes I know, I have other sites build in WP and it's a super platform to build your content. I didn't want to change my own programming etc. for the website I mentioned because that would mean I would have to do it in a real crazy way with my current provider, they offer WP too you see, but over here at WA it's much easier to switch stuff. So I will have to build a dummy indeed until I'm satisfied (around 60 pages to transfer, but okay!) It will be so much better for the site structure as well. Google loves WP! So a lot to do for me ;-) The domain will stay at the current provider, because it is a .nl domain and WA doesn't offer that I guess. But I could change the name servers once I finished transferring all the pages into posts etc. There will be a few changes as some posts will change into pages, better for the tier structure, which I haven't got right now. I was too lazy to change all of that hahaha.

This is an amazing front end manager. I've worked with several others and without even finishing the video I can tell this is going to be worth it. All this content and a management platform for only 50 a month(rhetorical)? I've seen other suites that only offer a fraction of what you do for several times the cost. Why would anyone go somewhere else? Am I missing something? What is the catch?

Hey, I'm a little concerned. I see mainly the type of websites to create here are niche for those who would like to know about something and helping others (their audience) on how to find/learn about that topic. Not sure how that is going to work with my one of my website interest project. My website goal is not necessarily a "niche" has a project. Wanting to advertise and promote my goal in publishing a book and eventually a movie on a lesser known star? Who is my audience? Those who enjoy classic entertainment? Or would I need to go the route of my audience to learn with me on how to publish a book, then a movie/film?

And if i can create my business with WA, how can WA help me keep track of the sales and progress, i know it must be silly to ask but can anyone explain it to me.
Reply
MozMary Premium
do you actually have products that you want to sell? You can certainly create a shop with wordpress and the plugin woocommerce

affiliate marketing is where you don't need to invest in products, you help other people sell their products and you get a commission. It means you don't need to invest money in a product inventory or handle shipping.

so if you were in the health niche there are many products you can review and help guide people towards buying - they are already searching in google and are researching, you help them - same with the online marketing niche, people want to know where to get online with a website and you explain how good this platform is [or another one of your choosing] and when people sign up you get a commission

so niche is choosing your audience, who do you want to sell to , what do you think you could promote

if you follow along the lessons Kyle will explain how making money online works

You can change your theme at any time within your WP-admin:

There are over 3,000 to choose from there and you will also be able to upload your own from there.

Simply do a search there (the search is pretty good) and you will be able to find a theme/look that you are seeking.

I've designed a number of sites using WordPress and have them hosted elsewhere. I'm new to WA and looking forward to trying out the SiteRubix, also to see how it compares to my experience with the WP platform. I may end up moving those other sites to be hosted here.

One thing that I'll need to change as soon as I create the first site is the username and password, and that's just from a security perspective. Brute force attacks increase every week, and the first username they use is "admin". So I always create a uniques UN and then a 32-character random password. And I also use a plugin called WPS Hide Login, which masks the wp-admin feature of the back end - also for security reasons.

Aside from that, I use Smush for Image Optimization and Yoast for SEO, but they're similar to EWWW and All in One SEO. All these plugins are available on the WP repository at https://wordpress.org All in all, it looks very similar to building sites as I have previously, can't wait to get started. Peace y'all. :-)

Ok, so I just set up a site, and Kyle wasn't kidding! It was simple as could be, and the format is EXACTLY what I've seen in WP for years. Thanks! :-)
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, it really is that easy. In terms of your login, we protect that on our end and people actually can't attempt to hack it with our SiteProtect platform here (that protects your site in many different ways).

We also ran test using Smush vs. EWWW and EWWW came out the clear winner. AIO SEO has been chosen over yoast simply because it is more simplistic and doesn't have a lot of the "fluff" Yoast has, but both are great plugins. ;)
Reply

Thankful to have the top notch security - I've been taking care of that on my own for years. I did go ahead and install Smush and Yoast, but you know what? I'll remove them and try EWWW and All in One!

I'm here at this website building stage, into my 3rd day at WA. I have already absorbed in the importance of choosing a niche. But since I'm all new to this, I want to know whether I can add features to my site later on, say more drop-down menus, pictures, videos, etc. after it going "live"? And before actually completing the site, will my website go live in its incomplete avatar? Is there an option where I can "save" the finished process but keep the site on hold so that it doesn't have to go live? Or can I launch it in its unfinished stage but let everyone know that certain features/landing-pages on it are still "under construction"?

You can modify your site, including all those items you listed, at any point, now or in the future.

If you use a plugin like Coming Soon you can block visitors to your site until you're ready for them to see it. https://wordpress.org/plugins/coming-soon/

Yeah most people hold back their sites on the reasons under construction so that they can add features like videos, pictures or dropdowns of menu, etc later. In my case I immediately let it go live with a page about the usefulness of WA as my first bite or experience and the usefulness it had given me and attract visitors ( you can check that page on my site,July 9). Because Google will look in to the longevity of a site for its Ranking as another factor. Some articles that need modifications can be made unpublished through the SiteRubix Ultimate Writing Platform. Hope this helps.

most people on this platform do not hold back their sites, outside of WA they do, but here the focus is on SEO and as one superaffiliate blogged recently, he does let those articles out into google as soon as they are written to give them time to be found and rank - of course there is a big difference between writing good content and having a fancy site - good content being the emphasis and no shortcuts on that
Reply
phakacha8 Premium
Yeah thanks. let's go for good content.
Reply
sukumarth Premium
I think I'm getting somewhat stuck here. Since it's a proper website that we are talking about (unlike a blog), I guess the scale is certainly bigger if the goal is to attract visitors. And as rightly pointed out, nothing beats a good content and the way the contents are stacked. If content is then, the be-all and end-all in a website, it also means the one who's owning the site needs to be a good communicator, if not a good writer. Isn't that so? Does this imply that in order to be successful in online business, one also needs to write well?? Does this also mean one needs to have a blueprint of the site before one actually starts building it??

ok, looks like you confused the domain with the hosting

1.you get free sites, they can be moved to your own domain at the click of a button and into the WA hosting, which you've already paid for with your membership - notice it is high end wordpress specific managed hosting with some extra features like SSL certs, email, and speed and spam protect, and more, so to compare prices with other hosting companies you have to look at their absolute top prices

2. If you choose to use different hosting then you can move your site, that is no problem, and you can still do all the affiliate programs - they are not dependent on where you are hosted

3. premium membership doesn't 'end', it is a subscription that is either monthly or yearly, The starter membership with the two free sites doesn't end either unless you go premium - at which point you've unlocked all the training so you can't go back down - I see you are already premium.

4. During the building phase yes you can apply for affiliate programs, many of these have their own rules as to whether they let new sites apply, and some people would advise to get your site established before flooding it with affiliate links - magistudios has some training on that, and you'll see members talk about it too

You get all the support though you transferred it to your own.Because it's the same platform that gives you 'free' or 'own'. Your website is yours and nobody controls it but you. Once your premium ends, you need to activate just like we do for our school children monthly or yearly.

Thank you WA so far I am enjoying myself following every step in the training. I was thinking the niche free website that I created, would one be possible joined to a new domain that comprises many niche websites.

I wanna to know the end result so I can design it correctly from the start.

Thank you in advance for the response.

Focus on just ONE website and create success with that before diversifying and creating multiple niche websites.

It only takes ONE website in one niche to be very successful online. I usually find that folks that try to do too much at once (focus on several niche websites) end up in a state of mediocrity because it can be overwhelming and you don't really ever become the expert in just one niche.

It is the experts (specialists) that create long term, successful businesses in any niche.

I want to have a web page with the niche - regaining your mobility and strength with the Total Gym. History, I have used the total gym for over a year. Prior to using the total gym I was having difficulty standing up from a seated position and I continually had pain in my legs and my arms. Since using the Total Gym I am able to easily stand up from a seated position and leg and arm (from bursitis). The pain eventually returns, if I do not maintain my workout regime. Total Gym has an Affiliate program and Amazon also has Total Gym equipment and accessories. Confused, how would I create the Website?

You could always call it "totalstrengthandmobility" or something like this?

There are literally hundreds of products you could promote if not thousands and millions within the fitness niche.

Strength and mobility could even be one "sub-section" of a total lifestyle/fitness blog sort of thing.

Thoughts/comments?

Thank you so much Mikepawlik. Your response is really helpful. I like "totalstrengthandmobility".

So I use totalstrengthandmobility as the domain name and then use what for the Website. I just researched my last name Oliva, and found it means "peace" in Greek. What do you think of a website name of She Knows Peace.

I'm sorry for just responding back. I was wondering why I had not received any responses. I found out today where to go for everyone's wonderful responses. All of you are great I am blessed to have signed up here.

Hi Mary,

In my opinion, you could literally call your website anything you like but it might not be obvious right away what your website is about if you call it She Knows Peace. Once you drove traffic there and people started knowing who you are you could get away with that but something that would let readers know what your website is about before they visit it would be beneficial in my opinion.

If you would like any other help feel free to reach out! I am fairly new at this but I am definitely up for helping out whenever I can. Have a wonderful day! :)

Excellent video and excellent web management platform.

I have a question though. As a starter I will work on one site only to begin with and it will be a free domain on the SiteRubix platform. In other words my site will be on a subdomain. Being my first website I do not expect it to be my best work of all times, it will be mediocre at the very best.

I still would like to know, who will own the content of the website I will build on the free domain? I know it will most probably be a pile of rubbish. Will it be my rubbish?

Thanks in advance x

I have am very new too all of this and even through I have never had my own web sight before, the video here makes it look very easy to do and I can not wait to get started. But I do have a question? I very much want to become a premium member, unfortunately a little while ago my bank account was hack and everything I had in it was taken and my account was close. I literally don't have the funds right now to purchase the premium package at this moment. In fact I am still in the process of still trying to find a new bank phase. I was just wondering can I will I have access to the first month discount after the time runs out? And if so for how long? But if not then will I still be able to become a premium member once I get my finances back on track?

Hello and welcome. I am not sure about the discount being extended past your 7 days but u can become a premium member at anytime just by paying the monthly fee. U can also stay a free member for as long as u want. Once your 7 days are up u can still use the search bar above for more training and help, just type in the words u are looking for and it will show what is available to u. So once your finances are on track u can become a premium member and still work on your website in the mean time.

I have a few questions. First, I absolutely love WA now that I understand it and can roam around with jumping out a window. I am a retired Federal employee. I get paid quite well but only once a month - on the first of the month. Therefore, on August 1st, I will be able to pay for the premium membership for the year. Until then I will play with creating two free websites to be comfortable with them. I do have a domain name, ANJELLISAJEWELRY.COM on Shopify that never got formalized to my satisfaction in a website. I would like to transfer this domain to WA and create a nice website here to sell jewelry. I have a photographer coming here on August 1st to photograph 20 sterling silver gemstone rings I imported from China to add to the website. I will also notify Spotify that I am moving it. Then I can send emails, banners, etd from here.

If you have any problems with anything I have said or if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I really appreciate your advice.

Smiles,
Gerrie

When you go to build your site in the siterubix manager you will given the opportunity to transfer your domain name to WA. Note that you need to be a premium member to have a domained account.

You can use the above process to create a new website:

1) Using a domain you purchase here (must be Premium member)

2) Using a domain name from another registrar (must be Premium member)

3) Using a free subdomain (starter members and premium members can do this)

Whatever you choose to do is simple, and if you need help just reach out. Cheers :)

OMG!! I'm already overwhelmed after watching the video, I am hoping I can get 1 website up...but 50!! I tend to quit things early, however...I committed myself to not giving up and working my way through these lessons and giving it 110%!
My question is, if I build my site but not upgrade until later (really, these kind of things are like a gym membership to me) will my site upgrade, domain, etc...?
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Don't be overwhelmed by the big 50 number. 1 or 2 websites can be a very profitable undertaking :) You don't have to ever build 50! (whew!)

Your site doesn't "upgrade" with premium or anything like that. What you do get with premium is the option to purchase your own domain and here at WA they are really, really cheap ($13.99-$15.99/year), but that of course is a separate, but small, cost.

If you've started with building your free site and then purchase a domain later you don't have to build it all over again. You can move it over with the click of a button so that part's easy :)

What is the difference between a subdomain like .siterubix.com and an owned domain?

How much would it be to make your own domain?

Also how do visitors or the audience you are trying to reach react to a subdomain site as opposed to a owned domain site? I know having a subdomain can make you website name longer, maybe a little harder to remember when you go to search it.

I plan to get comfortable with marketing and promoting products first but eventually down the road I would like to create my own products to sell on my website for anyone to buy. How does that work?

Any feedback would be awesome!

The domain within the Starter membership are created on the .siterubix.com domain, you are in full control of the content, but you don't own the actual domain.

When you are ready, you can move these sites over to your own domains with a click of a button here at WA using the MOVE feature.

We also have a SiteDomains (domain registration platform) here at WA that simplifies the process. It is a breeze, it handles everything properly for SEO, and these are features included within the Premium membership.

Hope this clarifies for you Angelee.

This is how I see it ..

You have a bunch of family coming over ( traffic)

Are they going to remember and enjoy visiting at your own home ( domain)?

Or at a home where you have roommates ( siterubix.com)?

I would prefer the home rather than the other .
Reply
TimMcKinlay Premium
Hey Ange, couldn't find a link as such, but there are advantages to owning your own domain. This is known as a 'top level domain (TLD).

Basically, better rankings in Google and better authority in your niche. It is always better to own your own domain, but a free subdomain is cool to get started or 'test the waters' so to speak.

Unfortunately, u cannot downgrade back to a free member once u are premium. If u stop being premium then u will have 30 days to move your site to another hosting platform.

You cannot downgrade to Starter, but you will be able to resubscribe to your Premium account at any time and reconnect your membership (when you can make it back). ;)

I tried to write for many years...I'm an administrator and former facilitator/trainer. I'll tell you what my mentor told me: write how you talk to people (not speak--talk). If you need to clean it up, you can do that in a few minutes before posting. How do you know what to write? Ask questions of your subject. If you are not a subject-matter expert, become one, it will make things easier when writing about your subject. You become a subject-matter expert by reading and doing--learn as you go and put it into action. Oh, it doesn't happen tomorrow--it happens over time. One day you won't know that you didn't know what you know. ;-) I wish you the best.

I have some questions about websites:

1. It seems better to own a domain (which is possible with a Premium account) than to use a free domain (siterubix in this case), why?

2. I already asked a similar question at the end of lesson 1 or 2 (which I got some kind replies for), but I want to be sure: is it easy (as it seems better, as mentionned in the first question) to transfer an entire website from a free domain (siterubix) to another one we would then own?

I am asking these question because I am really interested and I am looking forward to start a website, but I think I will start and continue with my Starter account for a while (several weeks at least). I could totally be intersted in a Premium account, later, if it goes well, in regard to the advantages it can provide to a more expanded business.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

P.S. I really am a newbie as a website creator, but I can't wait to dive into it and will already start one, in any case, to try and learn :)

The reason many move over to a paid domain is because of the perception of authority when a site is on a paid domain. When your traffic starts to build and your target audience has the chance to choose between your post and another post next to it on a google search, the majority of the time they feel the authority site is the one where the owner has a vested interest in his website and owns his own domain. There's nothing physically better about the domain, it's just a perception type of thing. If you found a site about training kittens to play the drums so they can join a punk rock band as a guise while they infiltrate another country's government as spies you'd probably pick http://undercoverpunkrockkittendrummerspies.org over http://undercoverpunkrockkittendrummerspies.siterubix.com. Google also sees it as a positive sign of authority as well :)

But by all means feel free to build your site on the siterubix platform for now and whenever you're ready you can move it over to your own domain. They're super cheap at just barely over $1/month and moving your content from siterubix to a paid domain is very easy when you're ready. It's done with one click. As far as staying free for weeks, you can stay free as long as you like, but I don't think it would take you several weeks to finish course 1 of the training. I'm thinking you'll be ready to get on with the rest of the training much earlier than that and go premium. At $19 it's hard to beat :) good luck!

While we can't embed these videos directly into our websites, the easiest way to do it is the same way Kyle does in his tutorials.

1. Take a screenshot of the video player above
2. Copy your affiliate link from the white "affiliate" tab above the player
3. Place the screenshot image into your post
4. Make the screenshot image a link using the affiliate link you copied in step two.

This will make it so it'll appear you have an embedded video in your post and when they click on it they'll be taken right here. The great thing is that if they decide to click on anything once here they'll be prompted to create a free account and if and when they do that you'd earn a referral commission.

Building a website is the first step and by no means do you need to be technically savvy to be very successful online. :)I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video: Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, etc!)

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Joy. :)

If I understand u correctly u want to add this video to your website and if someone clicks on it and joins WA u want the credit, correct? Then all u need to do is click the "Affiliate" button at the top of the post on the right-hand side. In there is a link code that will have your personal affiliate ID embedded in it all ready for u. Then just take a screenshot of the video, place it on your page and create a link for it using the link code u get from the "Affiliate" button. Then if someone joins WA through the video u will get the credit.

If I have misunderstood u I do apologize.

Sounds like a winning solution thus far. Haven't built my first website yet, but definitely looking forward to it.

Ques 1: All you need to do is to point them to WA from your web host. If you are using GoDaddy, they have a very easy to follow video (as do most web host service providers). If you are still unsure about the process, just reach out to your web host for the instructions. It's a simple process, you just need to know where to look on their site. :0)
Ques 2: Not 100% sure on this one. That said... 25 websites is a lot. I wouldn't suggest going in on more than 1 (2 absolute max) for starting out. Writing content for 1 site can be a full time job. To do it right, you need to research and more research. If you are just selling via product reviews, then I can see multiple websites for various niches, however 25 niches is kind of a lot. Once you start closing in on 25 successful websites, let's revisit this question. To run 25 successful websites.. actually to run 3+ successful websites requires a team.

I just do not know how to choose my Niche before building this website. I have been in the health, fitness & healing for the last 30 years and I want to promote what I know and product that will help,, Any idea ?

My suggestion would be to pick a specific area in your field and target that with your website. A niche is usually a targeted area of expertise that targets a specific audience, like "health and healing for those over 50", or "Weight loss for women after pregnancy" or something like that. The point being is that it targets a certain audience. Hope this helps u some.

I set up my website with the siterubix domain and am putting content on it, but want to change the domain as soon as I go premium. Would I be able to easily transfer my site and all the information over to my purchased domain when I go premium? Or would I need to create a new site, copy/paste everything and wait for Google to index my new site?

You'll be able to transfer your siterubix to a premium domain no problem. You shouldn't have to copy/paste anything. It basically just redirects your siterubix site to your .com domain.

See if this video helps

Yeah, we actually have a "Move" feature that you will see right within the SiteManager.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites

You can move any domain to any domain hosted here at WA. For example, if you wanted to move your Siterubix website to a domain that you have purchased, then it is a very simple process.

The "Move" feature also handles for all proper redirects and SEO, it will transfer your site in its entirety and it is as simple as a few clicks. See attached screenshot for what I am referring to here.

I want to promote a hot product. Obviously, I need to include the product title when naming my domain/website, right? How to know in advance if they have an affiliate program?

Also, make a contract with them, Arrange commissions,Etc?

How to add their link or banner to my site?

I would not target one product and name your domain after that. that is an old school tactic which is not good anymore, target the niche and review the product as a part of your content within it. In short, just follow the training :)

Look up the company website. A lot of websites will have a link to their affiliate program hidden towards the bottom of their webpage.

If you can't find their affiliate program, then contact the website owner or their support team, and they should let you know. Most affiliate programs already have a commission % set-up , so you shouldn't have to negotiate.

If they have an affiliate program, look to see if they have an affiliate "tools" or "promo" page.

Make sure you are signed up as an affiliate before you start promoting their product or program, or you will not make any commissions.

They often will have banners with html code, which you can then copy and past into your side bar widget, or wherever you want on your webpage, with your affiliate link embedded in it. Make sure your affiliate link is in the html code so you get credit for it.

Oh, I see now..It seems also that this allows for one to promote other similar products, Relevant to one's niche

Yeah, I need to back up a little and review the previous lessons.
Thanks for sharing that, VitaliyG

No problem, I once made that mistake of naming my domain to promote a single product, BAD idea, when the company went bad, I was stuck with a useless domain name, hurt my image...

I wish you would set this up, like the books that say bla, bla for dummies. Doing this on a library computer is restrictive (can't bring up my testimonial video's). I find some youtube tutorials, but they don't look anything like what shows up on this computer. Any helpful thoughts greatly appreciated.

Sorry, where specifically are you getting stuck in the website build process Terry? Let me know here and I will be more than happy to give you a hand.

I wrote something but can't seem to ad it to the web page. The library computer refuses to bring up the testimonial videos.

Thanks,
Terry G.

Choosing the website theme is difficult. I can't tell from the demos what the website will look like and how it will be to use it.

I'll make the best guess possible at this point but I'm wondering if there's a further way to see any of them in action.

I hear you there, but because im on a phone and i'd like know how my site looks on the big screen

It usually looks fairly similar to what you see in the demo, but all websites start outas a "blank shell" and then as you add content to it you are going to see the overall design of your website take shape.

When I first decided to create a website I searched n internet for WordPress and created my site through that. I even bought a domain. Now I have joined WA I am wondering if the one I have already created is linked in any way or if I have to start again with WA. Can you please clarify this for me. Thanks!

If u already own a domain with a website on it then u can just move it to WA and carry on using it here.

I believe that you can switch your current website host service to WA & still keep the same website functioning. I had the same question earlier, and it's answered by one of the top 200 members here.

Hi Gunnertwist, one of my interests is to travel. I look forward to your input. Thanks,
Reply
Gunnertwist Premium
what area of travel? U need to narrow it down a little more, like vacation packages to some area, or traveling the world tips, or tips on travelling in a car or RVing across country, something like that. U start small then expand to more areas as u gain authority with your site. Just travel is pretty broad, but what about thehappytraveller.siterubix.com or onestoptravelshop.siterubux.com or yourtravelstop.siterubix.com. Hard to really come up with something if I do not know what u r going to do in travel.

Yes since I first came here and it still holds true to this day. I find the system in place to set up your website at WA is one of the easiest paths to get started. Everything is in place to do so and the support here is great and very attentive to the needs of the WA community. I have got help everytime I needed it and far faster than I have anywhere else.

I have a website on shopify, my question is can I build out an ecommerce store here using the free domain (I would want to test it out first since it is a different platform), then after I upgrade to premium, move my domain here then use that "move" button to move the whole site to my transferred domain?
Reply
ridesisapis Premium
You can certainly create a site using an ecommerce theme and install Woocommerce etc but you probably won't be able to test it as the free sites aren't SSL enabled.

You will be able to point your already registered domain name to your free site on SiteRubix and it will be moved to that domain name within SiteRubix when you do that.

The payment functions are not what I would need to test, but just the design and such

Hi there!

I'm finally starting to dedícate more time to WA. I'm at lesson 4 of the "Getting Started" and I've created a website as told by Kyle in his video. However, after doing so I've noticed the following:

- In the website details of Kyle's video, under SitePlus+, he has 3 points: SiteSpeed, SiteSSL and SiteProtect.
- In my website details, under the same section, there are only 2: SiteSSL and SiteProtect. SiteSpeed is missing.

Is this ok? Did I do anything wrong? Shouln't the 3 points be there?

Thank you all in advance.

No, you have done nothing wrong. It would appear that Kyle is using the yet-to-be-rolled-out WA platform that includes the SiteSpeed feature.

You can read a bit about the upcoming site speed improvements in a recent blog post by Kyle:

Should we be concerned about LLCs or state sales tax for these websites?
I am not very knowledgeable about technology so I will probably be asking a lot of questions so any help would be appreciated. The video helped me understand the process it's the details I may need held with.

I'm not a lawyer or CPA and so this isn't legal or financial advice. A lot of states and localities require that if you are engaged in a business that you register for a sales tax license and submit sales tax returns. Whether or not you have to pay sales tax(or whatever it may be called in your state) on affiliate commissions is an entirely different issue. If you didn't want to research and/or consult with a professional, yet still be on the safe side, you could just pay the sales tax on any of your earnings. Easy, but you might be over paying your taxes. LLC's could be useful from limiting you legal exposure and protecting personal assets, but you don't need one. You could run as a sole prop if you wanted to. It's really up to you though.

I to am not a lawyer or CPA by any means at all, but I did just wanted to add to ThomasPaul's post, if u are associated with someone like Amazon as an affiliate member, they will send u a 1099 each year for the commissions that u earn. This is pretty common for most USA based affiliate programs, I believe. I am not sure about companies outside of USA. Someone can correct me if I am wrong please. Hope this helps a little.

I'm not lawyer or a CPA, but I believe that since you are earning a commission as an affiliate marketer, rather than directly selling products, it's not up to you to collect or pay sales tax. The IRS 1099 form will show the income which you will have to declare and pay income tax on. You will get a 1099 form because there will be nothing withheld from the income from your affiliate partners. You may want to pay estimated taxes quarterly on this income so you won't owe a bunch of money next year on tax day. It depends on how successful you become as to whether paying income tax for a whole year in one fell swoop becomes a problem. LOL
