This tutorial assumes that you already have a Facebook (fan) page, if not, you can find you how to make one here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/increase-...

Let's examine how we can easily set up a store with now extra cots and very little effort on Facebook without actually having our own products!

The first thing you need to do after setting up your page is to select the store template (if you didn't select it when you created your page):

  1. Go to your Facebook page
  2. Enter the Settings -> Edit Page
  3. Under the templates, select Shopping
  4. Take a look at the following settings

Shop:

Make sure the offers tab is on and make a note of the shop url, which can share later on

Offers:

Make sure the offers tab is on and make a note of the offers url, which can share later on

I have been playing around with this and I think we could get into trouble with Amazon. First, they don't allow posting of prices (as these always change).

Second, In their terms they also state that you are to use their code to insert images. You are not to download images.

But with the FB shop you need to manually add an image, you also must state a price. Both of these are breaking Amazon rules.

So I think I will pass on this idea for now....

OK, so you are telling me that Amazon doesn't allow advertising on Facebook? Hmmm...you know you can share a product on Facebook from the associates menu...

I even checked couple of things and indeed they seem to forbid prices, which I wasn't actually aware off (and was doing on my website previously). It look like they don't even allow email advertising of their products.

Maybe Amazon UK store has different set of rules, I wrote to them in clarification.

Indeed, better not to take any chances before this is cleared up.

Well, I just typed out a long message and it somehow disappeared.

Let me start this again. Yes, Amazon does allow advertising on FB if you share via the "f" in the associates site stripe.

But FB apparently requires we disclose all our affiliate links by inserting the word "advertisement" somewhere in the post (or a phrase letting people know that it's an affiliate link). So I am not sure how you would do that in the shops.

And I know that do no allow prices to be listed unless you use their data feed (not sure who to do this) as it will keep the price current and updated. The problem with affiliates listing prices is that the price may be one thing when you publish your article but it could change the next day or week. They know people aren't going to check amazon prices daily and make changes on their websites.

I just tried sharing a product on my Fan page. I thought maybe it would automatically add a line somewhere stating it was an affiliate link, but nothing like that happened. I just wrote a description and pressed post. I tried attaching a screenshot but keep getting error messages. So use this link if you want to look at it. https://www.screencast.com/t/vx6IW4czBv9

But the not disclosing it's an affiliate link is FB's issue, not Amazons.

Well, you can write it in the description. However nobody does this, I am not sure if Facebook is actually checking it. I can try to find out.

So please do not use this feature for Amazon links if you are worried about getting banned.

Sounds good. Please let us know if you hear anything from FB about using affiliate links with the shop feature.

I know my affiliate program ShareASale allows it.

But it still depends on the actual company. I am with Shareasale as well and work with 7 companies via shareasale and they all have different terms and conditions with regards to disclosure and images. One company made me write an affiliate disclosure in my sidebar because I have a link to their website their (They are through shareasale).

But the disclosure part I was talking about is a FB rule. They are following the FCC guidelines and just like on our websites we are supposed to disclose when an article contains affiliate links.

Right. OK, well, I must be lucky with all my affiliate programs, or maybe it's because I am not US based.

I get that you are bound to the conditions of your affiliate programs and everyone should always check what is allowed. Good point. I will update my training accordingly.

It could be. But I am in Canada and join all my shareasale programs as a Canadian. But most programs I join are US based. I just read a bunch of the terms of the programs I am a part of and they all say that you cannot shorten or mask the affiliate link unless you use the shareasale link shortener.

I had no idea about this. I have been using pretty links for all of my shareasale promotions...oops.

Hey Mira,

I was hoping I could list my services under this but when I clicked on the URL to copy it like you suggested in the first lesson, I received a prompt detailing products (see image below).

So ... I went back and selected Services instead. I had forgotten that this option was even there. THANK YOU!!!

Sorry? You didn't want to agree to the conditions?

Not a matter of agreeing to their conditions, as I clearly stated, I offer services and NOT products ... which is why I went back to the list and selected Services.

I'm VERY happy you listed this as I have one fan page setup properly but not my main one ... well ... until this training.
