While doing my daily research, I found a list of things to be aware of to identify scammers out there in Computerland. Surprisingly enough, one of those things was bad or faulty or hasty grammar and spelling. The thinking is that they are smart, but not particularly bright. Grammar is probably the last thing on their mind.

Now, I do know that while in our training we have been encouraged to not stress out over every word or punctuation detail...just write...right? And yet you do not want to get stuck in a sub-par standard with your grammar. You do not want to be identified with the bad guys.

So, for purposes of training, you, the affiliate marketer, have got to consider tightening up your grammar.

It is, to be truthful, a hot topic wherever you are. People do take it personal and some trainers are not nice about it. No one likes to have their education questioned by anyone let alone someone they do not know. And there are those that think I am obsessed with the subject.

Look, we are here to learn how to maximize our ability to generate and drive good traffic and make some money and grammar is important for these things. Kyle is right. Don't be obsessed with it (like me) but don't ignore it either.

So, find a way to tighten up your grammar. Pay attention to the red underlines and use some sort of spell checker and maybe also use the 'distraction-free writing' feature to help you focus line by line. We are all adults here but we all got trained differently. In your research and reading, pay attention to grammar and spelling and punctuation. Is it right? Is it wrong?

Now. Here is probably the most important part of this discussion. Do you have browsers that exit your pages because of faulty grammar and/or spelling? There is the bottom line. You do not need that grief! So, don't stress over it. Tighten it up over time. Put it in your mindset and you will be fine and you will re-engage your readers with good grammar.

Start a list of things you are grammatically challenged by. Day by day, week by week let the list grow and make sure the spellings and rules are strictly applied on your list. Make it alphabetical if that helps. You should have spellings of words but also punctuation you are not sure about...where the apostrophe goes, i before e except after c and the exceptions to this rule etc. You can use this list for a reference. Yet many times just writing stuff down logs it tightly in your memory.

Also, when you submit your pages to the community for review and feedback, and the feedback comes in with grammar, spelling and punctuation concerns, please remember that you are dealing with one of the truly unique and beautiful things about Wealthy Affiliate right then and there.

Now, of course, there are those who are just learning English or are starting or operating their business in another language. Their challenges will be a bit different and I can't authoritatively speak to them.

What I do know is that we are living in an age of shortcuts, and you will be 'shooting yourself in the foot' to use them in your content. You are building professional web pages that should be as professional as you can make them while at the same time engaging and fun and original.

Being British, I find it a constant irritation when I have to adjust spell - checkers to accommodate the bias towards so - called " American English " - which in itself can be regarded as a contradiction. I refuse to change my sixty plus years of English education merely to satisfy the whims of the internet. I therefore spell - check to English as it is used within the British Isles.
