Never Give Up

Jimmy Warren didn't necessarily blame anyone. But the last time he actually felt 'normal' was when he was 2 1/2 years old. And he would be 18 on his next birthday. He certainly didn't blame his parents. They had done all they could with what they had. They had tried everything from holistic cures (including 35% food-grade H2O2 and organic Apple Cider Vinegar) to stem cell therapy (a fun trip down to Panama) to oxygen chambers, high-powered nutrition therapy and a type of neuro-re-arrangement.

And things were improving. But not at a speed that would win any races. And I do understand about a thousand times more than they think I do! I am just simply locked in here, and they're locked out there. Yah. Autism is ugly! But my parents never give up! I feel bad thinking this, but sometimes I wish they would 'hurry up!'

(end of example)

Look at the elements: Autism is a hot topic. It starts in very early childhood. 'Never give up' is something we all need to apply. Jimmy is having a monologue inside his head. He and his parents are both trapped. They have tried everything. They are in 'combat' mode with the disease. The progress is slow. And Jimmy is smart, not 'retarded'! They never 'give up', but they need to 'hurry up'.

I don't want you to copy my style. Just maybe see it as a helpful example of how to break out of the 'norm' and write some engaging content. No one knows what's going on inside Jimmy's head. But I guarantee you will get 1000's of parents with autistic kids engaging the heck out of your site...

So, it starts with the title. Which could be difficult given that you are searching for a 'keyword' with the right parameters to use. And sometimes the keyword with the right numbers is one that doesn't even, grammatically, make sense. Once I was looking for a keyword for my gourmet coffee site, and the only one with the proper numbers said "Best Coffee World". Fine. I took it and used it and made it proper by inventing a little Vietnamese lady speaking broken English selling bags of Vietnamese coffee on Pier 39 in San Francisco...(Best Coffee World!) coffeeadvice2.com/best-coffee-world

So, don't skip over a crazy keyword for your title. It still may be usable. Feel like you can make great content out of any good keyword (because you absolutely can) and you will be fine!

I guess, for this training, one of my themes would have to be creativity. Your readers will engage when you are being creative and entertaining and original. And they will come back to see what you will do next.

There are other things to engage and hold. This page you are reading is black on white. The font is just about right for easy reading. You, on your own site, are using pictures of the proper size in the proper places of the proper matching theme. You are breaking up your document with the use of (colored?) paragraph headings. And at times you will even use a video, maybe found in youtube.

All of these things are tools and the longer you do this, the more tools you will find to help you engage. One of the best tools ever is the WA community, where you can get positive feedback on your site and pages. In fact, when you are stuck and frustrated, YOU MUST USE THIS TOOL! The accumulated expertise and experience and understanding of the Wealthy Affiliate community (family) has saved many affiliates from frustration, and, uh, other stuff as well.

Not only that, but many of the 'ambassadors' are very accomplished writers, and you can learn a lot of really useful stuff by paying attention to them. When one of the 'ambassadors' reviews your work, be appreciative but also be sure to have a look at THEIR stuff. Tons can be learned by this and is not to be skipped.

Okay, so before I leave you in the 'engagement' dept. please allow me to leave you just one more example of something different and engaging and creative...

Being British, I find it a constant irritation when I have to adjust spell - checkers to accommodate the bias towards so - called " American English " - which in itself can be regarded as a contradiction. I refuse to change my sixty plus years of English education merely to satisfy the whims of the internet. I therefore spell - check to English as it is used within the British Isles.
