ATTN! READ THIS FIRST!

This is a video that I'm publishing on YouTube to promote WA, so you'll hear some jazz about WA at the end of the video. However, I wanted to publish inside the community here so you guys can see what a pain in the butt it is to install SSL on a website without WA tools.

If your URLs don't all redirect to https when this is done, do this: To fix the issue of redirecting http to https on pages, I installed a plugin called WP Force SSL. Fixed it!

Wow, think it is really tough to get one yourself on your site outside WA!

Ummmm NO!
actually I'm still having probs with my WA install where as I've had ZERO issues with my other dedicated host.
It seems my SSL certificate has already expired here is the msg:

To: Webmaster of https://howtobuildabusinessonline.com/
Google has noticed that the SSL/TLS certificate for https://howtobuildabusinessonline.com/ has expired. This means that your website is not perceived as secure by some browsers. As a result, many web browsers will block users by displaying a security warning message when your site is accessed. This is done to protect users’ browsing behavior from being intercepted by a third party, which can happen on sites that are not secure.

Support ticket submitted, but anything but smooth.
The site has been verified and google analytics ID updated.

I saw another post about getting the expired message. There have been a couple of tutorials which explained the fix.
Thanks for sharing,
Kathy

Agree. You make it sound easy, Nathaniel. But, all those acronyms sounded like a foreign language. Thanks for this tut!

Jewel:
Did you bookmark this via your browser? Or, is there a bookmark feature in WA? (I've been MIA for a while).

Thanks,
Charlie

There's a bookmark feature in WA. You can click the star to bookmark it, and give it a "tag" for when you search.

Just click on the star on the left side right above this video! :)

You are right. I did SSL for one my site before WA option almost the same way. It took me about one 1.5 hours. But the remaining six, zero $ and half a minute.
The Wealthy Affiliate is a place to be.

Very interesting that you had a similar experience to me!

That is complicated Nathaniel. I use Letsencrypt and get the green padlock in under 60 seconds from my WHM for free.

To do that I just enter my domain name and click a button. Then you can also manage your SSL from a control panel and lots more.

So quick and easy:)

Interesting, I didn't know you could do it that way via cpanel
Reply

I do it from the WHM actually. You can manage all your sites from there instead with the Manage SSL Hosts.

So far so good:)

Great comparison video Nathaniell. Many people do not realize just how easy we members here at WA have it than the majority of the online world and all for the price of $49 per month.

Thanks VERY much! My Google A. has been flat-lined for days! I was not sure why. Today, my tech son said that, yes, the change to https: would cause this! I will use the 'fix' now.

Hey Nathaniel, I thought we weren't allowed to have a video that is on our YouTube channel and here as well. I wanted to do this but the community said no, it's duplicate content. What are your thoughts about this?
Reply
nathaniell Premium
LOL. Of course the first comment would be about this. The issue is intent. If you are publishing a video trying to get people to your YouTube channel, or website, then it's not allowed.

If it's a training tutorial that's helpful to the community, then I don't see an issue with it.

Others may disagree with me.

In my opinion, Google isn't reading the video, and I'm not going to produce and edit a video 2x, so it's easiest just to upload the same video. That way I do not have to link to my YouTube channel and can keep in inside the community.

Someone else can chime in if they disagree.

Lol Sorry, had to ask since I wanted to do the same thing. :) I hear you and that was my same intent. I didn't want to do a video twice and knew people can use the tip.

Thanks for your thoughts! :)
