There's More DON'Ts than DOs, so Here They Are...

Simply throwing up an article may fancy your flippers just fine, but the REAL proof of its performance is in the pudding! Leaving out the keyword research does just that!

  1. Don't go outside of the proven methods as set forth here at WA, especially if you are young at this! There's very good reason why the lessons and training modules are written the way they are. They work and they work very well!
  2. Don't go overboard or beyond the scope of the lessons on here either. For example, we no longer base our keyword insertions on keyword density. That doesn't work anymore and there are unfortunate souls outside of Wealthy Affiliate still relying on this method and wondering what's wrong. They did work at one time but that was about two years ago now. This feature, amongst others, have been taken off the on-board keyword tool some time ago. Someone just recently wondered what happened to the keyword tool. They call it "gentrification", otherwise known as, "urban renewal."
  3. Don't rely solely on keywords and SEO. There's the human factor too. It's okay to find related keywords for subtitles, etc, but use them sparingly, and use the main keyword only in the title and maybe one time in the first paragraph, if that's even necessary. Do what the instructions tell you and don't go beyond. Write for your human readers. The search engines don't ask for much anymore. Don't give them anymore. You'll regret it.
  4. Don't let others who insist that keyword research isn't that important. It is! It's easy to get influenced by what others say and miss the point of the lessons on here. This goes for the not-so-good sources outside Wealthy Affiliate all the more.

I'm very glad some of the stuff I write is useful. It needs to be this way "out there" too.

Thanks Daniel, I enjoyed your words of wisdom as it was an excellent reminder to stick to the plan that the proven experts have set out for me and not let others influence me to stray from that training.
Much appreciated
John

In spite of the training, I let it happen to me too. Now I've got to fix it.

This is an excellent resource, Daniel. You have done a great job of reinforcing the training through your personal example.

Well written and insightful. Spot on the money.

Keep it up, my friend.

Thank you Scott. I hope you are doing okay with your own campaigns :) Haven't heard much from you lately but glad to see you are still here and working in it. I will never forget that you out of everyone was the one who noticed the change in color in my shirt LOL!

If it wasn't for Jay and his live training, this resource wouldn't even be here. Two reasons to learn in here - you learn new stuff, and you re-learn stuff. I'm often having to go over these kind of things, especially analytics and stuff like Google authorship. Every time I do this, I have to go back and review how to do them.

I`ve done and more recently, seen others make all kinds of errors when it comes to keywords. Nice job clearing up some of the most common mistakes!

It's one thing to make errors with keywords. A whole another ball game when you leave them out altogether. There are some pages I have that, unfortunately I won't be able to find keywords for and they won't pull like I would they would.

It's still possible to make use of keywords as subheadings so as not to seem like keyword stuffing. As far as results go, I've always found myself getting good rankings under terms I never even targeted at all! Keywords are important but not the end all be all by any means.

Yes, that's right. Kyle was doing it in the Boot Camp, I think the first lesson in Level 5.
