Here are a few DOs...

  1. Do follow the basic training in here (and the advanced as well) because it comes from folks on here who have been wildly successful. The training says to do keyword research according to instructions and you won't go wrong.
  2. Do remember that Wealthy Affiliate began as a keyword list site back in 2005. By this time, the founders, Kyle & Carson were known locally as the "Wealthy Affiliates" thus we can conclude that keyword research has always been one of the first things you do when finding a domain, title, writing posts, pages, articles in the article directories and even in subheadings (not the same keyword chosen for the main work.)
  3. Do keep to the instructions found here (because they help turn out so many success stories.) Doing so will save you a lot of confusion and disappointment later. You will be far more likely to have a success story to share here on WA if you DO your keyword research! This means, EVERY time you write a major segment of content, such as an article.
Now the DON'Ts...

I'm very glad some of the stuff I write is useful. It needs to be this way "out there" too.

Thanks Daniel, I enjoyed your words of wisdom as it was an excellent reminder to stick to the plan that the proven experts have set out for me and not let others influence me to stray from that training.
Much appreciated
John

In spite of the training, I let it happen to me too. Now I've got to fix it.

This is an excellent resource, Daniel. You have done a great job of reinforcing the training through your personal example.

Well written and insightful. Spot on the money.

Keep it up, my friend.

Thank you Scott. I hope you are doing okay with your own campaigns :) Haven't heard much from you lately but glad to see you are still here and working in it. I will never forget that you out of everyone was the one who noticed the change in color in my shirt LOL!

Excellent- reinforced my thoughts on keywords

If it wasn't for Jay and his live training, this resource wouldn't even be here. Two reasons to learn in here - you learn new stuff, and you re-learn stuff. I'm often having to go over these kind of things, especially analytics and stuff like Google authorship. Every time I do this, I have to go back and review how to do them.

I`ve done and more recently, seen others make all kinds of errors when it comes to keywords. Nice job clearing up some of the most common mistakes!

It's one thing to make errors with keywords. A whole another ball game when you leave them out altogether. There are some pages I have that, unfortunately I won't be able to find keywords for and they won't pull like I would they would.

It's still possible to make use of keywords as subheadings so as not to seem like keyword stuffing. As far as results go, I've always found myself getting good rankings under terms I never even targeted at all! Keywords are important but not the end all be all by any means.

Yes, that's right. Kyle was doing it in the Boot Camp, I think the first lesson in Level 5.
