What is a niche?

A niche is simple, it is an audience. An audience looks for stuff online, for example, what are some of the last searches you did in Google. These are ALL niches.

In this video I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what a niche is, how to come up with niches that you are interested in, how to choose a niche...and if you can't come up with your own niche, then I give you a "plan of attack" for getting your business up and running in a pre-selected niche.

Here is what you are going to be doing within this tutorial:

  • Understand what a niche is
  • Finding your very own niche
  • Choosing your initial direction
  • Understanding Affiliate Bootcamp
If you have any questions about niches or what direction to go, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

I am writing a book on self help and am thinking of basing my niche around that. do you think self help is too broad?

I love the idea of a self-help book. But self-help is vast. Is there a particular area of self-help you're focusing on?

Hi Beth, yes in relation to menopause. So it includes chapters on mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health but with a holistic approach, affirmations, meditation essential oils, yoga etc.

Self-help is a huge area, I think I would narrow it down to a specific subject to offer self-help on.I to love self-books and use them a lot. For instance, when my washer broke down some time back I found a self-help book on repairing household appliances and with it I figured out that the machine wasn't broken, the "dog clutches" just needed to be replaced. It not only saved me having to replace the machine, it saved me calling a repair man to replace a two dollar part that only took me 5 minutes to do. So, yes I think self-help is a great niche, as I said I would think about narrowing to a specific area of interest.

God bless and have a wonderful, prosperous WA day. Remember, set a pace for yourself and a pace doesn't mean fast just steady.

Again, Have a wonderful day.

I have my niche ideals. However I'm struggling because I don't know which one I should start with. In other words I want to start with the most profitable one first. I'm looking at Mental Health Self Help or Parenting books as I'm also in the process of writing a book at this time. My other ideal is to promote a niche related to church music, instruments, sounds systems, video equipment for power point and church videos to play before church. So give me your thoughts?

As much as I would love to see your site on church music, I think the Mental Health Self Help site would be the most profitable. Lots of people are looking for help in this area.

I think what your writing a book on would be s good niche as you would have tons of content as well you may offer a condensed book to build an email alert business.

I am looking into starting out with Pro Handyman Services where we look at projects to calling a contractor to tools picked by a woman for a woman as favorite picks. I have a large background in residential and commercial construction. I believe my knowledge here can be a asset. Thoughts on the idea anyone?

Hello. I am currently working as a project manager in commercial construction. It sounds like a service you are looking to offer is similar to services provided by Angie's List and similar sites. Is that right or am I off the mark?

Love it, great idea. Even more detailed, HandyWomen.com for the domain/business name. I don't know, just the first thing off the top of my head.

Focus the niche on teaching and educating women to do and know all the skills you know. Brilliant.

As you target keywords you could also appeal to men too. I really like the niche and there is a ton of room for multi dimensional traffic. Meaning Google and YouTube to start with.

Go with it, if you love it, can help others with it, it's a winner.

No its off the mark! I would not recommend a contractor as much one be the contractor locally that is what we do but I would look at tools and review them from a woman perspective and at home use. diy project from a carpenter perspective and the truth about what is involved. Things that truly work for a home owner and projects they can handle and should know more ect.

Thank you this is exactly the direction I was thinking. Looking at tools to projects from a single mom/woman with construction wisdom

I'm thinking anything ridesharing related. For example is Uber worth it? would that be a good niche

Hi Jerson,

If you have some unique ideas that can better help people and you can pull it off, I think that would be an awesome niche!

And anyway, don't think tooooo much before starting. This is not gonna be your last niche!

I'm very interested in virtual reality and simulations as teaching and training tools. This also includes gaming systems like wii. To me, this technology could develop eventually into something like the Star Trek holodeck or holosuite. I find this to be very exciting.

Had to look up that word -- pogonophile. So, you like beards. Could be a good niche. A lot of men are growing beards these days. Then again, conspiracy theories could work well too. Good Luck.

awesome.. I did nothing but studying conspiracy for 8 hours a day for about 6 years... YouTube, YouTube, YouTube... with link to website with consp.. books... dvd's digital downloads... etc etc...
(and websites with links to your video's...)
"Flat earth" is hot as the sun right now... went from 10 000's to 7 million YouTube vids last year or two... (for and against)...:-)

I'm thinking of art, both selling and renting because I want to ultimately set up my own business doing that. Has anyone any experience in these fields? Would love to hear from you.
Hope all your ideas are going well.

This might help.

It's not free, but you might be better off spending a little money to get some insights.

P.S. You can become an affiliate for these products once you own at least one. They are excellent.

P.P.S - The above is not an affiliate link.

It sounds good to me.

My advice is to just pick a niche and go with that for now.. most important is to get going with the training and understand the process.. If you later on want to start a new niche it will be a lot easier the next time, and so on.

Most times peoples first niche here isn´t their last one (me included)

I still don't quite understand the Affiliate Bootcamp. Is it better to do it? I'm not sure I fully understand the concept behind it, sorry! Am interested to learn - Is it something I should do? and if so why? what is the benefit of it?
Look forward to hearing from you all,
Thank you,
Sophie

Hi Sophie. Here are two links about bootcamp. May be of help to you, Marcel..

The affiliate bootcamp is training on how you can build your website around promoting the Wealthy Affiliate program.

You're basically telling folks about how they can start an online business using the awesome WA way. If they sign-up as free members and ascend to premium, you receive a monthly recurring commission, something like $22 per month for as long as someone stays subscribed.

Many WA members do this exclusively since it's a program they believe in. The FREE training is awesome such that when people come in, they are more willing to stick around and get the premium membership.

Hope this helps.

Always choose a niche you are passionate about as you are going to be constantly creating content for the chosen niche on your website in the future,
Hope this helps...

Not sure what you mean by selling and renting.

I'm thinking of videogames or sports. How can I get started?Which websites should I research? Nike, adidas?
Reply
Beid Premium
Well, are you just trying to get into these fields in very general sense or is there a specific sport or video game genre your interested in? sport video games?

I think which route you want to take would be the first step so to speak. Once you've got that in your head just follow the courses, its pretty great stuff.

depends, if you are wanting to promote say fishing ( a niche I use) pinpoint what part of the sport you want to write about or know the most about. For example, I write about the large flathead and blue catfishing> then about catfishing tournaments> then about tackle and bait I use. And in every step I have in mind how can I help the person that is reading my blog improve their fishing.

The Thing about a niche at least I have found and I am in no way an expert is, write what you know about and are passionate about. Do not write about what you think you can make the most money from, write about what you can help your reader with if you write to sell a product without the intent to help the person chances are you're going to fail.

Awesome. Thank you very much, this is very helpful. I appreciate that.

Actually those are my big passions. I love videogame and sports. Every kind of sports, but my favorite is soccer. I would like to write about soccer and maybe other sports I enjoy, and separately write about videogame, like, which pros and cons of PS and Xbox. Their new releases, etc.
