What is a niche?

A niche is simple, it is an audience. An audience looks for stuff online, for example, what are some of the last searches you did in Google. These are ALL niches.

In this video I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what a niche is, how to come up with niches that you are interested in, how to choose a niche...and if you can't come up with your own niche, then I give you a "plan of attack" for getting your business up and running in a pre-selected niche.

Here is what you are going to be doing within this tutorial:

  • Understand what a niche is
  • Finding your very own niche
  • Choosing your initial direction
  • Finding and search for affiliate programs
  • Using Answers.com to uncover niches
  • Understanding Affiliate Bootcamp

A couple of resources I leveraged within this training that you can use for your niche research. These include:

  • Amazon.com
  • Answers.com
  • Google.com
  • Magazines.com

If you have any questions about niches or what direction to go, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

My niche is to offer Life Coaching services based on an online video course that helps people create the life of their dreams. I have been trained and certified as a life coach and affiliate for this online course to help personalize it to the particular persons needs (only14 affiliates are certified to offer coaching for this particular course). After buying the video course there is the option to purchase my coaching services if they want further assistance implementing the principles of the course (i.e. guidance and accountability)

I desire to help anyone that wants to improve their lives as well as those that want to create the life of their dreams. I have a special love for assisting others in discovering and enacting their life purpose which is ultimately fulfilling.

There is another online course that I want to promote as an affiliate, that helps people create the necessary mindset and emotional conviction for success.

Finally, I am quite interested in the WA affiliate program as a resource for those that want to create a successful online business that aligns with their life vision and passion.

Good advice and direction. I may have to start with bootcamp to get my feet wet. Ultimately, I would love to develop a company and website helping people create a better quality of life through multiple sources of income as well as healthy lifestyle choices. I know that's sounds broad but I I'm having a lot of ideas to get it more specific.
Does anyone promote network marketing opportunities or products? Is that possible? My wife and I are part of one currently.

Many Network marketing businesses are still using the traditional marketing method - by talking to people and having parties. If you could combine the network marketing business and the internet marketing, you could probably kill network marketers! I know one guy who became a top level of the company within a year and is making seven figures because he knows the internet marketing.

The traditional methods are limited to people who are not necessarily interested (family, friends,etc.). Targeting those who are already looking seems like a better idea!
Thanks four the input.

Very nice video¡¡¡ gave me some insight :p

But let's say i have an idea of a niche, my only concern is if it'll work even if I don't actually own the products i want to talk about since there are so mane of them and are quite expensive, while also being bought more and more. Any advice for me??? btw this is my first question around here¡¡ :)

Many, if not most, don't buy the products they review.
You just have to make sure to get as much information as possible.
Go to the manufacturers site, read other reviews, etc.

Hi Allan

I agree with Moritz, many people don't buy all the products they review, but you need to make sure you gather as much information as you can to give a well balanced review.

Luckily a lot of the products I've reviewed offer free trials, so I can give a personal review, but if the product doesn't then I do as much research as I can. I look at other reviews, I take a look at other products the seller/company may have and see the quality of them, I watch YouTube videos of the product being used, and I look into the company and their reputation.

Overall, I'd recommend reviewing the products you have used/own first, then you can review other ones.

Hope that helps.

now I have many ideas for different niches. My mom got breast cancer when she was around 50. one niche is that I want to promote healthy nature products for helping women at middle age to prevent from breast cancer. Did someone have same kind of niche here, could someone give me advice about this, thanks.

Hi Lori,

I think that is a fantastic niche to pursue! What a wonderful way to help the world. I'm wondering if you could promote healthy eating and sell supplements. I just did a quick search on Gerson Therapy + affiliate programs and there's all sorts of things from sound therapy to enema kits.

http://www.gersonpal.com has an affiliate program selling supplies. I can't share the link here but you can search for gersonpal + affiliate program and get to it that way.

This might be worth a look.

Hope this helps.

About 3 years ago, something unexpected happened. Life handed me a passion of which I refuse to let go of. Today, I am beginning to make that passion into a small business, one step at a time, one new customer at a time. The dilemma that I faced when I signed up yesterday with WA, is that I want my passion to remain separate from my interests for now. Eventually I will bring the two together.

Having just turned 60 recently, it dawned on me that, what is it like to go through your 60's with all the aches, pains, happiness and the likes, provides me with a wonderful vehicle as a niche that can be written about (blogged) as well as having the ability to monetize a website geared towards problems and solutions for this generation.

Honestly, I couldn't sleep last night as my brain would not turn off. My mind raced with ideas that now seem never ending. I think I will go for it!

Awesome to hear Joe, it sounds like you have your niche all set out Aad an exciting project in journey ahead of you. :)

Keep the brain turned on, it is exciting when you experience this as this means that you are doing something that you are truly passionate about. ;)

Super great ideas and really informative! I feel like homeschooling and/or baby/child related health/educational items would be a good niche. I'm VERY passionate about homeschooling my children and also what types of products we use with hem. We're always researching the best car seats or the best natural ways to keep us healthy, the best educational games or top places to go hiking. Something along those lines.

That is certainly a direction that you can head, I recommend you narrow it down as that is pretty broad and encompasses a lot of different niches.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

So I think I've narrowed it down to helping people find natural baby products and essential oils to use in their everyday life. Everyone can benefit from essential oils and natural based products! I've been using oils for the last 4 year for everything from cleaning to getting rid of fleas on a dog to helping my daughter just yesterday get over a tummy bug!

I've always had a passion for food and when I am researching recipes and trying them or simply looking for places where you can get a nice feed I don't feel the time passing at all. However I love to cook myself too and I do most of this from home of course so I was thinking my niche can be something like simple home cooked meals or easy home meals. Would this be a good niche, or is it too broad?
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would narrow this down, what type of food and what aspect of that food do you want to help people with?

Simple home cooked meals could be a more narrow approach, but it might still be a little broad. What type of cuisine?
Reply
Dmtorre Premium
I see a lot of these sites. I don't think it is too broad at all. WA please correct me if I am wrong on this but as long as it is food recipes and articles about the food there isn't a too broad factor. You also have it narrowed down to home-cooked meals or easy home meals which is a step down from Food blog.

If you are to compete though you may want to come up with catchy video ideas for Facebook. I love watching these little videos that show you quick simple recipes.

When you get a follow this blog button let me know!

I see because the main thing I wanted to focus on is just something that is really nice yet can be done from home. I tried using one of the methods from the training video by just entering home meal and it auto completed to home meal ideas and that's kind of what I want to do. So would home meal ideas be better? If we have to get into cuisine then I suppose I can do something like a touch of asian at dinner time. However I did want to keep the cuisine aspect a little more open so that way it gives me more options to explore what to put on. What do you think?

Sorry to be bothering you again, I was thinking how about I make my niche Asian cuisine then so I can share all different kinds of Asian foods and recipes

That is 100% profitable niche. OK, let me explain to you what is a niche in terms of blogging so that it will be easy for you to finalize the niche.

Niche means the subject of your interest, in which you have some knowledge so that you can write several contents related to that niche. Actually, every niche is profitable, what matters is a number of contents you can write on that niche. So, instead of thinking which niche is profitable, think in which niche you can write many contents by targeting several different keywords, because more contents you can write, you gonna have more traffic to your website and then more conversions, sales or even profit from advertisements within your website by applying with services like Google Adsense. If you don't know what Google Adsense means, then you can click this link:- https://www.newsonlineincome.com/how-to-make-money-from-google-adsense/

So, "simple home cooked meals" or "easy home meals" is sure a profitable niche for you if you have some ideas on "simple home cooked meals" or "easy home meals" so that you can write several contents on that topic on your own as well as by doing research on Google. So, sure you can pick that niche and keep on making website exactly as guided by Wealthy Affiliate lessons by doing proper keywords research for each content.

So, keep on taking Wealthy Affiliate lessons by clicking "Get Started Here/Certification" green bar on the left-hand side menu of Wealthy Affiliate. At the end of those lessons, there are some tasks which you need to complete. Move step by step from lesson 1 without skipping any lessons or tasks. I repeat, without skipping any lessons or tasks. If you move in that way, soon you will understand the system of Wealthy Affiliate and even will start to build your online business.

And remember, I'm always ready to help and support you. You can always feel free to ask me if you need any help from my side within Wealthy Affiliate. Even you can follow me and message me on Facebook if you need my urgent help. This is my Facebook ID:- https://www.facebook.com/rajde029

I watched the video and was wondering if it's possible to build a niche website around what I'm passionate about. I have a few ideas and need to narrow them down:
- I want to help single mothers with teenage children to travel or get outdoors (adventure travel or hiking)
- Solo women travel - to help them unplug (digital detox) and enjoy connecting with nature.
- I want to help people that want to travel in small group tours (3 to 14 day tours)
- Solo women photography travel tours

My reluctance with these is 1) that I don't know if they fit the affiliate business model and 2) I'm not sure if there is enough money to be made in these sort of niches as the travel and photography industries are quite saturated or if the commission rates are high enough.
Other ideas

- I want to help people choose lenses for their cameras
- I want to help beginners choose a camera

I know Kyle said not to overthink it!! Looks like I'm doing the opposite....
Reply

Hey Laura,

They all sound like good ideas so you could really go with any of them. I like the idea about getting single mothers with teenagers hiking and so on.

What you could do in the way of an affiliate site is show them how to do it on a budget and then source affordable camping/hiking gear from Amazon or somewhere like that. The thing that stands out to me here would be the budget that this demographic has to spend on holidays which is why I think you could go with a budget option or something along those lines. There's a ton of camping and hiking gear that you could sell and a lot of people that would be interested so you would still be able to make a substantial profit at the end of the day as well as helping people have a better quality of life.

For solo women that travel, you could get into the accessory market. Find non-digital things that would be handy to them as they travel and would be beneficial when they are at retreats. I think this demographic has a larger disposable income than they previous demographic and you can take into consideration that there would be a huge amount of people wanting to do both of these things.

With the camera lenses, what about lenses for beginners? You could give a lot of great information about the best/top10, etc lenses for beginners and then expand by selling more accessories for beginners (customers who bought 'this' lens also bought a tripod, strap, bag, etc.).

Any of those ideas that you have, just type into Google 'niche + affiliate program'. I found a few for women's retreats so there is definitely an interest in those fields.

All in all it sounds like you want to make the world a better place which will go far (and the world needs more of that!).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Peter

Hey Hector,

I can try and help! I looks to me like what most people do when they start out picking a niche is to pick something from the main 3 big sellers (those being 'how to make money', 'dating' and 'weight loss'). It's a great place to start when you are planning to work on a website, but those 3 subjects can be so broad! With the weight loss industry for example, you'd be competing with big companies (like Weight Watchers and so on) that have already established major brand recognition and authority as the go-to people in that 'general' niche. So you have to start to narrow it down. If you start to think about all the demographic possibilities that there are in the world (age, sex, location, etc.), you could start to narrow it down to something a little more manageable like:

Weight loss for seniors
Weight loss for over 40's
Weight loss for post pregnant women

and so on...

Then you could take any of those demographics and tailor a site to their wants and needs specifically, making the competition far more managable.

I think where people get confused about narrowing down their niche is that they think that there won't be enough of a demand, but with the sheer amount of people online these days, that will never be a problem! You also have to take into consideration that the upcoming generations have been born with mobile devices in their hands and population-wise, the world just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger!

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Peter

Being a young working wife. Time is money. The big city life is very challenging and there is a lot of ways to spend more time with your family after work. I am thinking about the niche kitchen ware, just as a start to make a busy life less difficult to make sure that her family has something to eat at a minimum of time and to clean effectively with products helping you. My goal with this site will be to spare time and spend time with your family. I think all of our working women's dream is to make food as quick as possible and clean our kitchens as quick a s possible and at the same time keep the husband happy.

What aspect of the health/beauty niche do you want to help people with? There are literally 1,000's of niches within these categories and you will want to narrow it down.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I happen to have a box of books directly from the publisher that I want to sell. The publisher went bust so I need to market them myself. So that is my first niche.

My second niche is to sell some original oil paintings that the artist gave to me. He's a wonderful artist, but he's incarcerated, so I need to market them on my second website.

Then my third website will be to review products from Amazon that I've actually ordered and used.

So I got a lot of ideas from your tutorial on niches.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Sure, these are all directions that you can head with your niche, I would recommend that you choose a starting point though. Just because you have books in your house that you need to sell, doesn't mean that you need to make that your starting point and it is difficult to sell tangible products without the following first

I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video: Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, etc!)

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Debra. :)

So there are hundreds of choices to be made about what area I want to select a niche from. Once I have narrowed it down to one of those areas there are hundreds of thousands of areas to select an area of interest for my niche. Having narrowed the hundreds of thousands of choices to an appropriate suitable niche (Um, how do I do that?) I have now to select from a few tens of millions of sub sets of niches. That's easy - where is the dart board? Maybe someone who knows how to get through the tens of millions of choices can just tell me, "Here, this is a niche that isn't too broad but isn't so obscure it only has 3 people interested in it." My eyes glassed over in the first 10 minutes. And this is my second time going through all these training videos, I'm following the notes I took the first time. Truly, I am at a point where it would be more effective to just use a dart board. Is my first choice of niche going to work? Is is too broad a topic? Is there anyone interested in it? What do I have that I can sell to people, if there are any, that visit my site?

Gary, it would be easy for someone to suggest a niche, but at the end of the day it would be their niche not yours. There are a few things that I learned from the training. The first is to pick a topic/niche that you enjoy doing, talking about and that you can create a lot of posts. The second once you have decided on your topic, look for keywords that will help your ranking with SEOs, but have low (less than 100) competitors. You do not have to have something to sell. That is what affiliate marketing is about. With a few links to affiliate marketing sites, when people visit your site, click on an affiliate banner and purchase something, you will get a percentage for the sale. I hope this helps.

So it's just a WAG then. I did that originally but after going through the training videos a second time I have serious doubts about how broad an area I guessed originally. Regardless, that is not the reason I am doing all the videos again. I was having a horrible time building my website, apparently there were two, sometimes, and nothing I wrote remained on the page. It was as if my "building" a web site was going backwards. Every time I would work on it nothing would post and more would disappear. I eventually deleted both sites and started all over again with video 1. Mind you I have two other web sites that I built and use for my photography that I started before WA. One is a Wix the other is a Word Press. So it's not my first rodeo. I'll keep watching the videos to see if it works this time. I can always go through it again if not. Thanks Harvey.

My best advice is to write them down and really look at which one, key word "one"that you have the most advice on or that you know a lot about on. Because as you go through the steps your going to see that "one" is really all you need to get started and then you will expand on that concept and you can incorporate your other ideas into that form. Meaning your niche. As I am sure Kyle will tell you.

I was thinking to start with the Hardware part of it and the accessories that come with that (Hi-Fi Stereos,Speakers, Studio Equipment and such). But once again, on a 2nd thought maybe it's best to stick with the Software part, like programs and the online services that are made to come in help for inspiring artists and/or listeners. What do you think of this? :)

Check the Google keyword planner and see what people are most interested in, and what has the least competition. You want to start with a low-competition keyword that you can rank even as a newbie. That's the surest way to set yourself up for early success. The actual work of marketing the products is pretty much the same whatever niche you pick - you write content and set up links, that's it.

I consider it is very important to have such texts instead of just hearing. It helps to think the things about because they are really not easy.

I wonder, as well, is it really hard to add such a function as titeres, or you don't want to do it from some principal reasons?

My son, Oliver, is 19, non-verbal and has severe sensory impairment and over the years (we found out when he was 2) I've had to deal with alsorts.....sometimes very well and sometimes not!!
I want to help others who are in my position as it can be isolating sometimes.....the mainstream playground parents don't get it most of the time....and it's great to know/read about somone who does. My Ollie is at the lower end of the spectrum and will be moving into a term time residential placement this time next year which is a huge step. I want to write about this and give others hope??
I'm thinking of loads of information which can lead to books, products, sensory products, etc.
Is this all too far too broad???

I have thought about writing a book about coping with raising children with special needs. If this is what your gut feeling is telling you then go for it.

There are plenty of reviews and affiliations you can make as well as help people.

In my opinion, no, I don't think it's too broad - and I think it's perfect for you.

This isn't something you've come up with after researching trends on, trying to find a hot niche or looking for something with big commissions... that you know nothing about and is just chosen because of the hoped for financial reward. That is something that you'll get sick of writing about in short order because you've no passion for it (it can be done but it's a trial of endurance).

This, on the other hand, is your life essentially, and a subject that affects people the world over. It sounds like you could almost write it diary style, as well as specific articles, and that you already have a wealth of material waiting to get typed up and published.

Better yet, this isn't some impersonal medical screed, it's real life for you, and people will be able to see the authenticity. If you can talk in the conversational language of "over the coffee cups," describe the difficulties that others just can't find the words for, then you're the Magic Mirror on the wall - you reflect their life but also have the answers.

Without being mercenary, those answers will be where your affiliate commissions frequently lie. Sometimes. And sometimes it's just day-to-day advice and support from someone "who knows."

If you're happy about putting your life out there, then as I say, I think this could really work for you.

Best,
Adam

All niches have a ton of opportunity within them. There are 3.75 BILLION people online and we are all now more connected than ever. This is the audience you are dealing with the Internet and even some of the most obscure niches have millions of people interested in them.

You should read about this here within a blog post I recently created on this exactly topic: YOU make a niche profitable and that is why it is important that you decide on a niche that you are interested in/passionate about. It will make the journey that much more fun and exciting. ;)

yes good stuff,.. i am a senior ,.. i see lots o f content to offer around turtorials for seniors ,. or at least packages ,, one time purchases in $30 to $40 range,, as a senior on a fixed income that is what i find i am purchasing,, not the on going monthly subscriptions,, i cannot afford that ,, well at this point ..perhaps this on line marketing training will change that financial situation for me.
i also have a background in electrical work, i find family and friends over the years have called me for instruction with simple branch circuit wiring additions or problems ,, so i may produce video content in this area, just concerned how to monetize that because prefer single item sales,.. product line approach.

Hey Team,

Would you suggest that certain Niches can be over saturated? I have mentioned it before that my passion is creating financial freedom for my family! through smart investing, consolidating debt and more recently through affiliate programs. My question is, I would be dedicated my Niche to how to develop multiple streams of income to better improve your lifestyle. Now I have only just begun on this journey so my concern is limited content? As I am going through this presently.

The key to content is product reviews. So for your niche, think about what what products/services you would recommend and those that you do not recommend. Just follow the lessons at the GREEN button and you'll soon find more ways to know how to write and what to write.

Aloha Ben! Yes. Some niches are definitely more saturated than others. The key is to find keywords (when you get to that training) that can help you support the ranking of your blog posts. Another thing I just discovered is that you can "put the medicine in the meat." Let me explain... So, I'm a life coach. And initially, I wanted to create a blog about the Law of Attraction, following your dreams, etc. If you want to look at my profile and scroll down the comments, you will find a conversation I had with Kyle about this. So what I did instead was, as my husband and I have created the laptop lifestyle of our dreams here in Hawaii (and are still in the process of it), I have found the ability to sprinkle in some of my coaching tips and mindset hacks into my blog posts so that my content still gets out there as I bring in people to read about "Creating The Laptop Lifestyle." Does that make sense? Lmk if it doesn't...
Also, be patient! Clarity comes with action while confusion comes with thought. ;) Try a few different things and see what sticks. See what FEELS GOOD to you. We're all here to play and learn so it's great that you're here in WA... Have fun exploring!!!! *lizel*

What if I have a niche that focuses more around a service than a specific product? Are there still ways to integrate that with affiliate marketing/amazon promotion or would you recommend I pick a niche that has a clear product? Since it will be my first website, I have no problem picking another niche, but just wanted to get some guidance before I dive in.
Reply

As per my opinion, you can integrate affiliate marketing with your service niche. Suppose, you've chosen website designing service then you can do affiliate marketing of Hosting service, premium theme for website etc.
If you are confident enough about your service niche then it's okay. Just go ahead.

After reading erby60s question an
d andrews response I thought of an idea. If I have friends in other countries where say companies like amazon do not deliver. why not look into how much shipping would be to the country and offer to ship them anything they want paying postage and handling? Met a friend who came over on a work visa a J-1 program. He owns the only trading post in his small town. He has 3 computers(only 5 in whole city according to him with internet capability) He lets his customers use the internet for anything they need. So my question is, If he were to offer his customers to be able to order off amazon and deliver to his country I research how much shipping would be % wise and charge him little off top and he can sell amazon in his country, what would be best way to set that up so he and I make a little but his customers still get a fair price?
Reply

That could definitely be a viable opportunity. You're nice could be shopping from Amazonless countries and you could help people find the best and most economical ways to purchase certain things in their area.

I typically do recommend you focus on a specific niche or area, but in this case I think that your audience is the people that are looking to find something or buy something online, but are unable to with conventional models and shopping stores online.

I am considering my niche can coincide with the major life transition I am about to experience. Moving from the big city to a small town! Although born and raised and lived nearly all my life in a big city, I have always felt that I was a small town girl lost in the city. LOL. So I am taking a leap and going for it.

Google gave me multiple links to the opposite: moving from a small town TO a big city.

Hi all, I have two ideas and need to choose one so i can go ahead with building my 1st web site! Would appreciate any comments/feedback (for example: is it narrow enough or too broad?..)
1. Child home safety (e.g. articles about risks at home and prevention, child safety products + reviews, first aid for children etc.)
2. Web site for alcohol lovers but targeted for mixing and drinking alcohol at home. e.g. cocktail recipes, product reviews (e.g. citrus squeezers), general info about different types of alcohol etc.

Any comments are welcomed!

My instinct would be child safety - because that can be in and outside. I feel like it has more legs to it (ie more variety of products and things to review) although clearly the market for both is quite large.

I think I have chosen my niche. Pet care. I found a lot of affiliate programs on Google. How many pet care product websites do you want to do business with? There are zillions of pet care products. Do I need to concentrate on just a few like cat and dog foods?
Reply
bill808 Premium
Start with one. Try to pick something that is more unique. Write your review and link to the product. Write your own pet care ebook. Think Dog Whisper as an example of a narrower niche. Build sales ladder. ebook give away, leads to ebook sale, leads to how to train your puppy course... You get the idea. Always look at upselling your customer by filling a need. Affiliate is good to get started, but the money is in your own products.
Reply
SZev Premium
The way I see it, you have two choices:

1. Create a pet care site using a general domain name like petcareblahblah. com and JUST focus on pet care for ONE type of pet for the foreseeable future on your site. (e.g., pet care for cats, pet care for dogs, reptiles, etc.) Once you have a stronghold in that particular area (which could take at least 50+ posts), you can then think about branching out into another type of pet care for a different pet and so on and so forth.

2. Create a very niche-specific pet care site straight-off (e.g., pet care for golden retrievers) and JUST focus on that. You'd likely see quicker results this way but your site would also be restricted to this sub-niche and thus harder to branch out into other types of pet care.

Does that make sense?
Reply
JHargrove9 Premium
It does. Thanks for the explanation. I would have to choose cat care. Cat owners love to look online for products/services/ideas/videos about cats. The owners are a special breed in themselves. So if I went for the cat, would I want to have ads for everything about the cat or start out with healthy food/holistic products/etc.

My main problem is deciding on what niche, but also I have another question...when I do decide on a niche, and I have my website built, can I post products from Amazon AND say Clickbank on my website? Or do you have to have one source to get products from?
Reply
@RICH. Premium
I'd recommend you work in a niche you are truly passionate about, there's nothing more dreary than writing content year-after-year about a topic that bores you to tears! :)

You can usually use as many affiliate programs as you wish, only a very few demand exclusivity, Amazon and Clickbank don't mind how many other programs you are affiliated with.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes, this is going to be part of it. There are many affiliate programs that you will be able to leverage and Amazon and Clickbank are certainly part of these.

There are 10,000's of affiliate programs and millions of products you are going to be able to promote as an affiliate, don't ever worry about there being nothing to promote within a given niche. There will likely be 100's if not 1,000's of things you can promote. ;)

There is no sense in putting to much thought into what you are going to promote until you have content in place and an audience to promote to. You will definitely get there though!

Hi Kyle, my first comment in WA: I like what I've heard so far. Your delivery is plain and transparent, without an iota of the arrogance I often detect in youtube videos especially on money making. Another thing I like more in your videos than most other videos is that the image on the screen is not a talking head. I know, to mention the word "trust" in relation to a stranger, especially in this environment, is naive, but listening to you does not raise any antenna of suspicion. Finally, dare I mention the term "Canadian civility"? I'm a west coast Canadian myself. Oh, one observation. I find it surprising that some find the word "niche" so intimidating. Personally, I look forward to choosing my niche(s) next chapter.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

It's what my teacher friends say I do best; students too - 'It's fun in your class' or 'Time goes fast'. . . . I used Apple products in class a lot and added Solomon culture just for fun, so maybe it could work. I did a keyword search and the QSR is 382. Google only brings up one page worth of links. I was wondering as me and my fiancée lost our cat this year and he was very close to our hearts and still is and as I am a big animal lover would 'the grief of loosing a cat' be a good starter niche for me as I have experienced it first hand or should I be making it more specific.

Try sticking to one niche. You can always build out smaller niches (even ones built on a single product - see Live Training Classes).

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/webinar

But you'll confuse your niche audience and possible search engines like Google by having multiple topics on a site.

I suppose you could have a site like BersoloReviews.com where you review your favorite products, but I wouldn't think this would be the way to go to start.

The more specific the niche, the easier is to rank, see targeted traffic and create sales.

You will learn all you need to know about acquiring affiliate's as well. Also in Live Classes you'll find 2 new webinars about Amazon and non Amazon affiliates.

I suggest narrowing it down a bit further by asking yourself who your target audience is?

For example: How about focusing on what it takes to become a fitness trainer?

What are the requirements? What are the ups and downs? How to find fitness training work? The possibilities are endless.

You can fit in articles about health and lifestyle as well because those topics are relevant but the main focus of your site would be on 'fitness training' for people who want to become a trainer. But people who want to get fit would also be attracted to a site like that.

For example, I checked and the domain name below is still unregistered, which surprised me - don't know how long that will remain available:

aboutfitnesstraining dot com

That domain lends itself in whatever direction you decide to go, general fitness, health, etc, as long as fitness training is covered on your website. ~Jude

On one of the lessons Kyle will explain this.

Thanks for a great tutorial. I know I'll have a lot of problems deciding upon a niche :D simply because I have trouble in making only ONE decision and sticking to it. There're so many topics I'm interested in and it's hard to pick.
Mostly I'm passionate about the travel segment. But this niche I believe is so oversaturated.
I'm also interested in photography, home decor, hair and beauty, and fashion (not much of a surprise here)
So I end up having a dilemma in my head. Should I create a lifestyle blog, narrow it down a bit, so I can still write about all the different subjects that are of interest to me? On the other hand, there are sooooooo many lifestyle blogs out there that provide excellent value to their readers. So I'm wondering if this is viable.

Would it be possible to create this kind of lifestyle blog/website and still make it profitable? Would it be too broad?
Is it better to stick to only one subject?

Thanks for your help! :)

Hi Natalie,
I can understand, used to share the same situation too.

Not to worry about oversaturation online of your chosen niche. The internet is a huge market. Many people went online searching for the products they need.

It make sense to focus on one interest first before moving on to another.Travel segment and lifestyle website are too broad.

Firstly, you need to get the idea of what a niche really is.A niche is a specific section of your chosen interest that cater to a targeted audience or fulfill a need daily.

For e.g lifestyle of the rich,exotic lifestyles,travel by backpacking,nature photography.From there,you can branch to many sub-niches too.

Take travelling for e.g:sub-niches include luggage, backpack, winter wear, travel safety etc.The possibility is endless.

Go through the WA trainings at your own pace.Level 2 of the trainings will train you how to rank your website using targeted keywords.

Hope it helps,

You can make most niches profitable. What's really important is to choose a niche which you are truly (from your heart) passionate about. One which will keep you both focused and motivated to add fresh original content for possibly many years ahead.

Hi Natalie,
I prefer to stick with one subject only, narrow the loop as much as you can and you can make a separate website for each niche, if you are so passionate to write about all the different subjects that interest you

Natalie,

With billions of people on the internet daily and the plethora of various niches and sub niches to choose from within a broad niche market, there is no such thing as saturation.

With the exception of fashion or hair and beauty (duh), I too enjoy the niches you have listed. You may even enjoy some of the many others I have listed and narrow down in the niche training below.

Every niche can be profitable, especially if you are passionate about it and can effectively communicate that through your content. Judging by your comment above I doubt you will have a problem communicating your thoughts.
