What is a niche?

A niche is simple, it is an audience. An audience looks for stuff online, for example, what are some of the last searches you did in Google. These are ALL niches.

In this video I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what a niche is, how to come up with niches that you are interested in, how to choose a niche...and if you can't come up with your own niche, then I give you a "plan of attack" for getting your business up and running in a pre-selected niche.

Here is what you are going to be doing within this tutorial:

  • Understand what a niche is
  • Finding your very own niche
  • Choosing your initial direction
  • Finding and search for affiliate programs
  • Using Answers.com to uncover niches
  • Understanding Affiliate Bootcamp

A couple of resources I leveraged within this training that you can use for your niche research. These include:

  • Amazon.com
  • Answers.com
  • Google.com
  • Magazines.com

If you have any questions about niches or what direction to go, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

If I want to go into the digital product niche I would do the bootcamp is that right? If so, why do you want us to learn just one of the two methods? Is one like selling products amazon etc and then the other affiliate marketing? Guess I am confused on the difference.

Hi :)
The Online Entrepreneur Certification course is to learn how to make a website in any niche you want, including digital products. Whereas the Bootcamp is specifically for learning to promote Wealthy Affiliate.

Just know that while going through the Certification course you will find that you might want to narrow down your niche a little. Digital Products is a little broad and you will find it very competitive. By narrowing to a more specific type of digital product for your niche, you have a better chance to succeed.

Bootcamp is to promote WA only.
A niche website is to promote whatever you want: electronics, fashion, food, pets, makeup, etc.
It is always best to start with only one or the other because it is very easy to get overwhelmed.
They are both methods of affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is using your own website (which you create here) to promote products or services.

I have a number of ideas/areas for niches. Now need to narrow it down and decide what to focus on, and pick one to start off with Performing a Google Search as described in the training video is helping immensely with making that decision.

A quick note to share that I learned elsewhere -- if you aren't very knowledgeable on the niche you want to specialize in, search for a book or two on Amazon and read them for a quick ramp up. You'll become "expert" on the subject matter over time after building/promoting the niche, researching content and writing blogs, etc.

Soooo looking forward to having great success with affiliate marketing!

Great advice! Thank you for sharing that tid-bit of information.
Another way to narrow down your niche is to use the Jaaxy tool. Search the keyword of your topic and see what pops up. Often times, suggestions will show that you never thought of.

Best of luck on your journey to success!

Living in the world of "info at the fingertips", it's not too difficult to be an expert on an chosen topic. I like your suggestion ;)

You can go through the first 10 lessons without paying and still get 2 free websites. If you work at it, maybe when you have those 2 (or 1 to start) sites up, you will then be in a position to upgrade :)

Best of luck on your journey to success!

One of the great things about WA's program is that you can go a long way without putting out any money. Even once you do pay, there is a 30 day guarantee where you can get your money back if you decide it's not for you.

I hope you find your way towards being in a more financially secure place very soon!

All the best,
Tom

One my many obstacles is my indecisiveness. I'm really interested in music and playing guitar/bass, so I could sell instruments and send people to links helping them improve their playing etc. I'm also very interested in photography so cameras, accessories tips and advice....product testing? I guess ultimately I'll do both. Any advice?
Thanks

It is not advisable to do both. At least not at the same time. Unless you are well-versed in affiliate marketing you
may become overwhelmed. Unless you have tons of free time to dedicate to EACH site,
you will be short-changing the quality of the sites.
Pick the thing you are most passionate about...one that if you were sitting at a coffee shop and a friend asked you what's your favorite past time, you could talk for hours about it.

Hope that helps!

Hi ... it’s good to be thinking of a few things all at once it means you have plenty to get stuck into right away . Don’t worry about what you should be doing first or last .. just grab one thing and make a start .. it’s like unwrapping a present ... at the start you have a rough idea what it might be but as you unwrap more it gets more & more clearer .. thats exactly how the training works ..,your niche and what direction you eventually take will get clearer to you as you progress through the training ...so don’t worry too much just make the start with one of your ideas ...i love the sound of music so that seems a pretty good choice to start with ... ALL THE BEST !

Two great niches. Lots of competition, but great niches. Multiple websites are quite normal around here. Sounds like you have the expertise in both fields to produce quality content. That's what will separate you from the pack. However, as Amy so eloquently put it, to attempt to do them both at the same time is affiliate marketing suicide. Get the one you are most passionate about up and running and once you are comfortable with it, launch the other one. You'll do great. I feel it in my bones!
