What is a niche?

A niche is simple, it is an audience. An audience looks for stuff online, for example, what are some of the last searches you did in Google. These are ALL niches.

In this video I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what a niche is, how to come up with niches that you are interested in, how to choose a niche...and if you can't come up with your own niche, then I give you a "plan of attack" for getting your business up and running in a pre-selected niche.

Here is what you are going to be doing within this tutorial:

  • Understand what a niche is
  • Finding your very own niche
  • Choosing your initial direction
  • Finding and search for affiliate programs
  • Using Answers.com to uncover niches
  • Understanding Affiliate Bootcamp

A couple of resources I leveraged within this training that you can use for your niche research. These include:

  • Amazon.com
  • Answers.com
  • Google.com
  • Magazines.com

If you have any questions about niches or what direction to go, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

Hi Everyone,

I'm stuck deciding which Niche I should choose first. One is on skin care and the other is DIY toddler rooms. (I'll eventually do both but want to find a good starter project. :-})

Also with skin care, is that to broad of a subject? Should I narrow it down to maybe face cleansers or masks?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to hear from everyone. Have a great day.

Hi Jessica, like you I have more than one site that I am planning on doing. For me, I chose the one that I was most interested in to start. If you are truly equally interested in both then flip a coin and get started. Taking action is the most important part.

As for the question is skincare too broad a subject I would say no. I am saying that because you will be finding low competition keywords in that niche so you will be narrowing it down in that way, but still have a lot of keyword options. Others may disagree? I came in thinking you needed a really narrow niche but that doesn't seem emphasized too much here.

Hope this helps, best of luck to you

Both sound like excellent starting points. If you’re still stuck, take out a coin, flip it, and choose the niche that you secretly hoped whilst it was in the air that the coin was going to land on.
Also, I think skincare is fine for a niche.

Thank you so much for the help and info. You're right. I just need to get started.

Hi Jessica,
Either one is great. I would choose the one that you are most comfortable with writing content, and for which there is a high demand for products. This choice will get you off to a good start.

With the skin care niche, will it be skin care for people with skin conditions, for adults (i.e. wrinkle creams), for teenagers (spots and acne), for sensitive skin or some other group?

If you can think in terms of how your customer will search for items, then narrow your niche to this you will be onto a winner.
Similar to how you have DIY for toddler rooms (this is specific)

Do a quick google search and you will find some great ideas.

All the best.

Hi Basilty, yes i think " Fitness at home" can be a niche. So long as you are passionate about this topic it will be easy to build a webiste / online business around this topic. You can get some ideas about drill down topics on this from google, but an example can be as follows:

Different ways to become fit in the comfort of your own home.

hello, i have a niche that i allways wanted to do on my own website, its to sell bigfoot or sasquatch products.its been passion of mine since child hood. you guys think this is silly to do or good idea. also i want to have a website to promote affiliate products aswell promote wa.

Bigfoot/ Sasquatch products can be a very interesting website for your audience that may be intrigued and follow the stories, especially when you create quality content about the subject, i.e. what it is, and how and when it originated. If you do a google search I'm sure you'll find a number of different products that you can promote. Sounds like quite a unique niche, I think it's a great idea!

You can also do a WA site through Bootcamp. You will just want to choose one or the other. It's best not to try to work on both at the same time. Build up your first site and let it establish credibility as an authority site, then you can work on another one at a later time. Hope this helps.

The best way to narrow your list is to choose the one that you are the most passionate about or have the greatest interest in. I see that you have them numbered. Would the first one be the one that you're most passionate about? You can also ask yourself what it is you want to help others do. You want to help people that _________________

Hi folks. I would like to do something on my lifestyle since having a heart attack (twice). Basically there's a whole load of things I use at home and at the gym, having previously bodybuilding for 30+ years.
I still train though and use a specific diet. I make use of supplements and also exercise machines.
I think there is quite a lot to go at in there with few niches, but which to start?

Sure, you could head in that direction. Recovering from a Heart Attack, it is definitely a topic you know lots about and definitely is a direction that you can head with your business.

why don't they recommend to follow both courses? The online entrepreneur and the Affiliate bootcamp. I would like to take them both and then decide what I do, but I was surprised to hear on the first video that they do not recommend to follow both programs. Can someone tell me why?

I did both. Maybe the Affiliate one is a lot harder because super high competition. For a newbie, it can be a quick put off. For a niche site, it is more relaxed.

One is for promoting the make money online niche (getting referrals to join WA) the other is for working on a niche of your choice. The two basically teach you a lot of things that overlap so you will, in essence, be doing it twice as long and any mistakes you make will happen two-fold instead of just once.

So I'm thinking of picking something to do with music production. Like plug ins or midi controllers etc. Thing about this is obviously music equipment is costly even in today's world. $300 is still $300 regardless if it was quadruple that 2 decades ago. I'm confused on being able to do this without having used a product. Maybe I hqvent gotten that far in the training yet though.

The best niche website is one you are an expert and or professional. And tyron best reviews are of products you have already used or a testimonial of someone willing to tell their and you tell it to your audience through their eyes. Hope that makes sense.

I'm a little overwhelmed when it comes to choosing a niche to build a website on mainly because I am a stay at home mom without a lot of experience in industries outside the home. My focus is on the day to day life with kids and family. I guess I would choose being a mom as a niche if that's possible because I have 14 years of experience. I would have categories dedicated to various aspects of home and family life. Would that work as a niche?

Your being a stay-at-home mom will be a good area to identify a niche. Ask yourself - what do stay-at-home moms need? Brainstorm on that. I'm sure you will be able to identify some niches there. Select the one you can be passionate about to explore and then promote through a website. Good luck.

Before I finalize my choice for a niche I still have a couple of questions. When you are picking a niche are you essentially picking either a physical product to promote OR a digital product/program? Or are you deciding on a specific niche and then promoting a few different items within that niche?
Reply
Scorpionsrus Premium
Hi, I asked the same question when I first started. You are essentially choosing a niche and you build your products around it as you move through the training. Eg. My niche is Gardening tools and supplies. I haven't got to the promoting products portion as yet, but that's my niche. Hope that helps
Reply

You are choosing an audience, and within that audience there are going to be many different products/services that you can promote. This could be physical/digital/services or all of the above and it likely will be as you build out your website.
Reply
realityshifter Premium
All of what you mentioned are valid. Within a niche, there could be both physical and digital products. You may decide on a niche and then look for products that can be promoted under it. Or you may, at the outset, decide to promote a product. Then what you need to do is to identify its niche and chose that to be the basis for your website. It's all about being creative.

Guys, I just saw the video and I came up with some ideas within the Health and Fitness category:

- Ab stimulators and muscle toners (those electrical ones)
- Toning creams (specifically for abs)
- Cellulite creams

Those are 3 things I've experimented all my life and that I think might have an audience willing to pay for good products.

Let me know your thoughts and strategies to get the affiliate links and create content. Thanks and take care!

Sure, you could head in any one of those directions. There is some cross over between those niches (as you build out your website), but I would narrow down your direction to just one of these when starting out.

Gayle - i seriously would not try 3 sites at once at the start.
for one you can only create one article at a time , so can you realistically produce 3-9 articles a week consistantly until your sites have beween 40 - 100 articles?
the other thing is that it will take 3 times as long to get any traction, and not taking into account the marketing.
start with one site , create a dump file for the others - so your ideas do not go to waste.
get that one up and running while learning the buiness model and after you gain traction and start getting a small return on investment then start looking at creating another site.
if you do decide to do it - good luck

When I started I had a few niche ideas. You want to start with ONLY 1. Build the first website, get some good content created, attract traffic, and get things rolling before you decide to start your next niche website.

If you do more than one website at the same time it will slow down your ability to make any money. Because it will take you several months just to get one website operating smoothly and possibly earning your first bit of money, you will need to devote all your efforts to that one site.

I chose the least favorite niche of the 4 on my list to do first. The reason why was because I knew that my first website would not be as well created as all others to follow. Being that it would be my first, there were going to be errors created by the learning curve.

Holy crapp-oly! Literally hundreds and hundreds of affiliate programs from selling guitars and musical instruments to books, online course, you name it!

I am thinking about making a website on veteran suicide. What do you all think? I lost my oldest brother to veteran suicide in 2016, and I want to do everything I can to help others to cope with the loss of someone to veteran suicide. Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the Niche Video. Awesome.

I have a great passion about vehicles and especially, the different styles in their rims. If I wanted to promote vehicle rims as my niche, do I have to promote one type only or promote a list in that category.

Much appreciated,

Wayne

Sure, you could do that. You could narrow it down to a specific type of rim (for a specific vehicle), or you could remain a bit more broad and target the entire rims niche. I know a lot of people buying ALL their rims online and they usually research and buy these through sites that have affiliate programs. ;)

Lots of opportunity in this niche as there is within any niche.

That said, I am passionate about music and instruments, spirituality, books in general and clothing. do you think I can conveniently move towards any of these directions?

Hi Ekwe,

Each one is a niche and you can do all if you wish.
In saying that it is best to start with the niche that you are most passionate about for example if you choose musical instruments.

You could do books as a niche or spiritual books, spiritual music, the opportunities are endless.

Best advice that I can give for picking a niche is to create your webpage first and start creating sublinks in the navigation. Start writing a blog as a draft and see which one makes sense, meaning which subject do you see yourself continuing daily.

After you figure that one out, it makes it easier to start searching up affiliated marketing topics that you can add on to your page.

Sounds like good advice. Within any niche, any of us can reveal unlimited potential in terms of keywords/ideas for content if you have the keyword research process down. But it is always a great starting point to discuss what you know, anything else can be researched.

Real Estate
Economics
Entrepreneurship
Investing
Finances
Marketing/Advertising
Credit & Debt
Markets
Business
Leadership & self development

These are the areas where I mostly reside in but how can I break all this down into one niche?
Reply
Vickic3 Premium
Hi Brandon
Think about how you are going to monetize the niche down the track a bit further and also how you can truly help people with articles you write on your website

All of the niches you have written here are very broad so in order to choose a niche you need to break it into smaller niches for example

Business- What type of business, or is it business equipment, how to build a business, is it an offline business, online business, work from home business,
This subject alone has 1000'sof smaller niches within it

Another idea is to google some topics here and see if it triggers a smaller niche to work with and always remember it will be monetized so choose wisely

Hi Brandon, looking at the list you have provided, those are all market segments, but they are too broad as you may already know. When we talk about a niche we need you to focus on a small very targeted group of people from those market segments.

Let's take Investing for example, to which small targeted group of people do you want to target? What problems will you solve for them, what valuable advise will you have for them? What are you most passionate about? Is it Stocks, will it be Bonds, Investment Funds, Options, Annuities, Retirement, Saving for College, etc. and even with these you can narrow it even further. For example, you want to focus on Retirement, what retirement options can you write about where you have expertise in? Will it be a Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Rollover IRA or Joint IRA WROS (with right of survivorship).

I always recommend people to pick a niche where you feel very comfortable writing about, because the training that is here in Wealthy Affiliate is to eventually create and build your very own website, where you will be writing about your Passion and how you can help someone with their problems. For example, a lot of people ask if spouses are automatically beneficiaries? That could be a title of an article you can write on your website for your readers.

Hopefully this gives you a bit of light of what a niche is, but don't be afraid to ask any further questions. Keep following the training. The training will cover this an all the other aspects on getting started.

As what Kyle mentioned to you, when deciding on a niche and trying to narrow it down to a more specific niche, ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that _____________.

Talk soon,

Eddie

That is a lot no? Would you recommend this niche anyway or do I have to narrow it more? Thank you in advance for any help. :0)

Hi Michelle, those results you saw are the most broadest results, so they will be VASTLY inflated. I looked up the real competition numbers through Jaaxy (Wealthy Affiliate's tool) and here is what I got:

The keyword itself gets over 5,000 searches a month and the competition is under 100 pages, so you're good to go here.

Also as you go through the training in WA, you will see more ways to market in this niche, raising that 5,000 a month search volume many times over. I think you have a great option here, just make to follow the training.

Another thing to consider in that niche is whether it can be expanded to related items in future.
Something you should ask yourself
- is there continuation to the existing product.
- what are Xbox accessories you can relate to the niche

I can see it is a potential niche. The challenge is you need to make your site better that existing one already out there (competitors). Better content, better images, better tips and tricks, etc

Finding my niche is a little difficult for me. I am more of a geek when it comes to my passions (hobbies). I like performing music, even though I'm not a professional. I also like reading sci-fi and fantasy books. Not really into sports. I just don't know which one to choose. I've always wanted to open my own music store, selling instruments, and accessories. Maybe that should be the way I should go. I just think that it may be too broad.

I know what you mean. I am finding the same difficulties with Mathematics. I may end up resorting to something that is not my passion. I am over-viewing but I do not want to build separate little sites when I can build a tuition site or blog and fill all the sub-headings with the sub-topics which could be a bit less broad. I did a search for Math Affiliate Programs and I think I can focus on Early Childhood Reasoning and Math, but I also would like to promote other areas. My passion would diminished somewhat but I know I have took this long even before WA but today I will think on this direction.

Specifically on your ideas and background I think you can take a similar approach and focus on types of instruments and accessories in your sub-menus and build a music store site/blog allowing each sub-topic to be a niche.

Hello Kyle! Another fantastic video! Doing the search on Google and the Answers site really clinched for me that I have found the best niche! Also, I think it is a good idea to allow folks to do both programs, even if they do come up with their own niche. I personally have thought that having both my own niche and marketing for this affiliation business is a smart idea. Your own customers make the best affiliates...well, I have seen signs around various businesses that say "Our customers make the best employees". This was the idea. You had mentioned in the video to go one way or the other. Why not do both?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You can do both, just not at the same time. The reason for this is that it will take you several months of consistent work to get just one website up and running, getting traffic, and beginning to make sales. There is just so much that needs to be done before you can earn money.

If you attempt to do two different websites at the same time, it will slow you down in your journey to make money online. Because it will take you several months for one website, building two at the same time will now make it about a year before you can start to earn your first dollar.

If a niche is broad, can we have narrower content dealing with different parts of a broad niche?
Ex. "Video gaming for families" as the broad niche and then have different posts within that niche that deal with the different aspects of video gaming for families. (different consoles, the mental effect of games, break down of who plays, retro games, popular games). A site that is a source of info for all angles of video gaming.

"Video gaming for families" sounds like a good niche.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
To make this niche narrow you would want to focus on only one aspect. For example...

Retro Video Gaming for Families
or
Puzzle Video Gaming for Families

Focusing on just one aspect, or genre, is a good place to start in the video gaming niche.

I see what you are saying, but are you looking at what you post as in communication or are you thinking about products? Also, as a premium affiliate, I believe your site would allow your customers to provide feedback. This way, you can start out narrow, but build up from the ideas of your customers. I'm sure there are many products to promote with such a site. Perhaps that can start narrow until you know just what your customers are really interested in. Just some thoughts.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I have an interest in commodity and forex trading. Sites like ClickBank sell trading courses, indicators, etc., on their affiliate platforms. If I could find suitable products to promote, could this be a possible niche?
Also, I am interested in Expert Advisors (aka. trading algorithm robots). If I could find someone to write a program to my specs (optimize and test) and promote it on my own site, would that be plausible.

Terry, people are always looking for help trading, beating the system, being one step ahead of the game.so this is a good niche, competative, but good.
clickbank products are viable, albeit need a bit of careful consideration in selecting.
another one is jvzoo.
just remember that people will remember the bad a lot more than the good, it only takes one bad product to ruin the reputation of years.
creating your own product is possible, i would be reading books on software specification now, and looking on forums for programmers to friend. they would write and test with historic data leaving you to prove your system.
so all you are dreaming of is possible, the only thing left is the drive and determination to make it a reality.
with this platform you have an ideal business model and safe environment to start it.
i wish you well in your venture Terry.

I write poetry and set each one to a photo for the visual effect. This is the one thing I love to do. With this poetry, I help people through difficult times or personal growth with a blog post for each poem.
Some of my poems can be hard for people to read because they deal with real-life problems but at the same time, they are well loved by others.
My dilemma is;
I can join writing affiliate programs but I'm not sure this is in the same line as what I am doing.
Also, my website has 97 posts each one with a poem and a blog post. None of those are to make money. I can add things in and am in the process of rewriting each post with keywords but I'm not really sure where to go with this.

Please give me any thoughts you have on this?

Sounds like a great niche! Rewriting the posts with keywords sounds like a good way to start, but what about adding products that a poet or writer can use? Paper, pens, computers, journals, thesauruses, other poetry collections that you like...you could put on a few poems and then mix a post with things to sell in between. I am guessing that you can find quite a few products that might aid others in becoming poets as well.

This is a great idea and one I hadn't even considered. Like best phone or iPad for writing. best lap computer holders for writing while sitting. and on and on and on. All the things I do when writing. What do you think about proper snacks so as not to get fat while writing? I'm kinda half joking half serious here.

Yes I was about to ask a similar question about my supposed niche or passion. My interest is Mathematics. What if my niche has no obvious products or the content or supposed related items are more provided as free downloads or content? How can I monetize my site then?

My primary interaction with Mathematics is providing tuition either online or face-to-face. I know there are products out there just not obvious when I am choosing a direction to go in that is Math-related.

I find myself torn between balancing a website that will just promote my skills and one that will neatly suggests affiliate products. I know I can do both but my dilemma is the direction. Should it be about my skill or a niche direction. Eg. Worksheets as a direction and also advertise to my locale about my services?

I know I will work this out as I float my ideas.
Reply
fullerlj Premium
With Fran's suggestions for me, this brings up some for you. My thoughts are to promote your skills and throw in some posts with products. I use things every day to write but never thought about it until what Fran said. You could do product reviews on things you use as small as paper and pens.
and check affiliate programs related to math or sudoku or something along those lines. I obviously don't know much about math but maybe this will jog your thinking.
Reply
bajandigital Premium
Yeah I like. My ideal thing is to create a website where I don't have to create content so often. I would like to create a site that advertises my skills and stays in one particular focus. Do all of these monetized websites have to be a like a blog where you are constantly creating content?

That's why I like the idea of a glossary, dictionary or database of some content that I create in huge chunks at a time and let the website churn out interests as the traffic hits all the many areas of the site. I think worksheets could be good but time-consuming if I have to create them. Of course there could be aff. prog. for that.
Reply
fullerlj Premium
I’m not a 100% sure but if you want to monetize your site you will need to stay on top of it. Anything that we sit in the corner to take care of itself will get dusty and eventually get old. Other people out there may choose keywords that out rank you and you then fall to the bottom of the google index.
Even big companies hire people to keep writing blog posts to keep people interested.
But I suggest you go to the training site and look for teaching on this. It would. Be nice if I am wrong.

Good advice about not sitting on it. I will choose a Math Niche and while I developing see how it goes along with my brainstorming. Afterwards I may have to revisit boot-camp if my initial complications arise.

I have a couple of niches in mind one has nothing to do with the other. Since I have worked in the racehorse industry all my life as a Pony Rider and have also competed in hunter jumper one of my Niches is horse tack bridles, saddles, and so on especially during big races and events we always like our horses to look the best and jazzy. the other since i'm a Grandma age defying moisturizers. the first i'm kinda scared of but horses have always been my passion. Is this ti much of a risk

My ideas for niches are fairly unrelated, as well. There is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure to follow through with the training on each site you do. I think tack, bridles, saddles is a worthwhile as there are a lot of people who are horse enthusiasts (I am married to one!).

Age defying moisturizers would be a good one, too, as people are always attempting to look and feel younger.

I have 2 directions I want to go in. Diabetes, I have it so I know the struggle, the meds, the testers, the things you should or shouldn’t eat. The struggles, everything. But on the other hand I want to do something in the children’s Niche. Homeschooling, equipment for babies and toddlers, early learning or children’s clothing. And I know eventually I could do all of those things. Just struggling to narrow down what I want to do now.

I would second the first option as I believe, being one of diabetics you have personal experience to share with your readers. It's easier to write your content. And it is easier for your readers to accept 'you'.

You can keep the second option for your next project site.

There are potential niche in the children niche but again you only need to choose on of them. Homeschooling sounds like a great niche to me.

Very good tutorial. The reference areas certainly brighten the mind that the products and/or niches you choose to go into look very attractive being pictured on http://amazon.com. So you can depend on that fact that many will buy via those avenues. Also the answers.com and google instant are useful tools. I have interests, passions but not really any hobbies. I also seem to want to promote a business from my locale out, which I know is an error. I must think whole Internet and this dampens my passion a bit, believe it or not. I am not trying to over-complicate but I think I will try at some of my interests and passions and see if I hit a wall. I am very interested in the boot camp but also want to create a few niches of my own.

I have a preliminary list:

Mathematics (work sheets, exam solutions, live help)
Dictionaries (keywords, crosswords, definitions, synonyms, homonyms, languages etc)
Cricket (stats, live events, replays, streaming?)

I will stop a bit. I think my understanding of Aff. Marketing is clear but then I tend to want to engineer a website not only focused on promoting products which is possible, but I must stay focused.

For example I think apps and mobile websites with additional functionality.

So i look forward to choosing a niche or at least get rolling in the boot camp.

I just went through the registration process with Amazon to sign up for their affiliate program, and it was relatively painless! My niche is basically readiness gear. I am an ex-green beret, and a subject matter expert on readiness by profession, so thought... too easy!

I have field tested everything imaginable when it comes to gear that most would consider "roughing" in environments deprived of modern necessities like electricity, running water, etc. My specialty was in radio communications so I was thinking about products along those lines as well. It's kind of late in the hurricane season to jump on that band wagon for those that live on the east and gulf coasts, but there are plenty of "disaster" seasons year round nationwide that I can market to for folks interested in family readiness/emergency kits for the home.

So what do you think? Is this a viable niche market for someone with my background?

Hi Michelle,

Let me see if I can help. Think of a niche as an idea or something you are interested in. It could be cooking, hiking, writing, health care or anything. For instance, you could use the niche of best receipes, then search that to get your theme; best recipes for my family or super quick dinner receipes, best health recipes. The basis is "best receipes" as your niche.

Hope that helps a bit.

I still not sure on which direction i would like to narrow my niche, I have some ideas. Since i have and military background i was thinking something to do with military supplies ie guns and ammo, I also am an electrician by trade and was thinking about devices that us radio frequencies to control your lights in both residential and commercial applications and even voice command devices like alexa or google applications. I also have a passion for gamefowl and was thinking about chicken supplies, ie cups and vitiams. I have to narrow it down, ill sleep on it and see.

You have actually identified several niches. Your immediate problem is not narrowing down your niche but making a niche selection first. Of all the three possible niches - something connected to the military, something connected to your being an electrician, and your passion for game fowl - which one will interest you the most? Which one will you most enjoy writing about in your blog? Once you have made the selection, then you can start narrowing it down. Best regards.

But I am thinking of starting with a micro niche in doorbells.

My eyes are opened though, I was blinded by Amazon and just the little bit of of the course I've been through so far shows me the potential for other affiliate offers with far greater earnign potential. Good Morning,

I have multiple ideas for a niche but the ONE I live and know the most about is the Automotive Field.

But this is very broad and I have done every position available and know parts, accessories, service, sales, tires, etc etc.

I need help dialing it in, would I do maintenance parts? Or do I go further into just air filters. This is the problem I am having choosing. (Overthinking it). How far do I dial in the niche?

And Second Question,

How does the boot camp niche work? I have what they call the gift of gab and people listen and follow my direction. I know I am great at promoting and marketing ideas and creating a following. Is that what the boot camp is about with "Making Money Online" niche. Please let me know.

I would like to choose one way or the other and then will move forward. Give me some incite to help me on making a decision.

Thank you,

Scott

The bootcamp niche is going deeper into the details as the normal certification and is focused on promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

Concerning your niche, perhaps choose car parts for sport cars or oldtimers, as that is a well paid parts niche and you are then specialized on the car and not on the 1000's of air filters and other parts for all cars.

Before I get serious about picking a niche, I have a couple of practical questions.

1) My number one choice right now is to create a blog dedicated to a popular game. Millions of people play it. The creators of the game sell items that appear inside the game, and have an affiliate program. However, I'm nervous about copyrights/trademarks/infringements. I know that when profit is in the mix, there are restrictions around what a person can post. Am I in the clear posting screenshots of a game I play, talking about its mechanics, etc.? Or should I tread carefully around using an existing product as my niche?

2) Similarly--are there common rules around borrowing images from your affiliate source? Let's say I want to promote a stuffed penguin sold by Awesome Stuffed Toys R Us. After I join their affiliate program, can I take images off their website and post it on my own in an effort to promote their product? Do all affiliate programs have slightly different rules around this, or do they all tend to be the same?

I'd just like to take the temperature on these types of issues up front, because that will help me make a smarter choice as I find my niche. Thanks for any help!

Hi Mal,
You have a valid concern.
Let me give you my insight. It might be different from others.
Let's face it that all affiliate program have their own rules, terms and conditions. Amazon associate for example, does not allow to upload pictures from sellers page onto our site but is allows using images via API or taking the image url and embed it to our site.

What I could suggest is either to read the affiliate terms or contact your affiliate manager for that particular program and ask if what you said is allowed.

It just make a business sense that you should be allowed to use material from the site as you are promoting their products. That being said, it's good to check for confirmation as it you don't want to get into trouble when you have created promotion on your site.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Mal,
Just answered your previous question and I see you went in the same direction that I mentioned, lol.

In my experience, each affiliate program is different. I would ask directly in each one how to proceed.
As for images, if it is a trademark you are not allowed to use it. Again ask them directly.

Sorry, it took a little while for me to see your questions... if you want instant answers, you should try the live chat (left side of screen). You'll always have someone amongst us that is qualified to answer you!

sowhat about doing a site about how to create your own online business with wa on your phone - is it possible - how do you make it comfortable to create content - grab pictures and how do you tell if it looks ok on a desktop rather than a small screen.

Good graphic cards can be pricey so if there's a percentage I get from the cell the more the product cost the higher payout it gets and gamers pay a lot for their hardware and also buy the most graphic cards and there are hundreds of different graphic cards with a bunch of sites to link to 4 different sells and sell comparisons. I could also do graphic cards for laptops and desktop could this possibly be a good idea?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I would like to know why it is that you "Kyle", don't recommend that people do O.E.C and Affiliate Bootcamp together? Another question I have is can I be an affiliate to two different companies but I endorse the same product with both of them? Example: Both Amazon and Wal-Mart carry the same product but I have a website for both stores endorsing the same product.

If you believe you're capable of doing both then go ahead. Kyle is only suggesting that when you start out you stick to one option. Most people that start with WA have never tried building a website before. The incredible amount of content that's required to make a website successful, plus all the rest of the training required, on it's own can be overwhelming for a lot of people.
As for selling the same products from two affiliate companies. Why would you? I know that Amazon wouldn't like it if they found out. I'm not sure about Walmart. Jim

That depends on their affiliate agreements. Non-compete clauses could certainly be part the affiliate agreement but I don't know precisely if those particular stores require of their affiliates.

So after lots of thinking, researching and stressing about niches I think I have finally found one I am confident in!!!!! An idea that is focussed enough from a content perspective but has opportunity across a range of products, and seemingly has a high level of searches but not much competition! I have also already thought of 30 content articles plus videos I could produce around them.... so I am now starting to get more excited - before I start building a site though I am going to move through the rest of the training whilst writing up content in the background for when I am ready to create the site. I am really enjoying the thinking and learning process, learning something new everyday, just hope I can put it into practise and little by little start to see some returns.

Honestly though I am a little worried about investing all the time and the monthly fees, realistically I think I could carry costs and time commitment for around 18months until I would need to start seeing a return. Fingers crossed that is realistic and I have picked the right topic ….
Reply
Kyle Premium
Wow, it sounds like you are onto a good niche. If you are already worried about TIME though, that is a concern. In 18 months you can accomplish a lot, don't fear time, we all have lots of it and if you put forth the effort you are going to start seeing some major headway after just one month, let alone 18.

Move in the direction of your niche that you sound passionate about, it definitely sounds like a natural direction for you. I look forward to seeing your business take shape Nina! :)

Thanks, could you give me an idea of other costs I might incur other than the monthly fees for WA? I will be writing and creating content myself. Nina1979 Premium
also, re time, I guess my view is that this isn't a hobby, it's a potential business and therefore you want to get a reasonable return within a realistic time period.Time is an opportunity cost because you have to weigh up spending that time on other things that could be of greater value. I can see there are lots of other factors, you have to be willing to work hard, learn, trial and error, invest etc, but if all of that is in play, I am guessing that if it wasn't realistic to see some actual financial returns within a couple of years despite every best intention, sacrifice, cost and the effort then you have to weigh that up. I am new to this so just trying to do as much research as I can before deciding to invest the time and money. I work full time in a decent job, my goal is to improve my time freedom in the long term and this seems like an option but only if it really truly is a realistic earner. The great thing about building up affiliate marketing I think, is that it's something I can do whilst continuing with my current career/job. If I could replace my current salary with online business within 5 years I would be really happy!!!

Hi Jhane,

It's fine to choose more than one niche. But you will only want to work on one at a time. The reason is that we often get too scattered and can't find the time to get anything done.

Keep all your niches in a file somewhere so you can come back later.

Which niche should you use?

You will learn how to research here so the best niche is going to be the one where you can create the most content. It will also be the one where you can rank your content the easiest. And the last thing is it's good if there are a lot of products that could be sold around that niche.

I suggest you take your time go through the training and then research each of your passionate niches and choose the one that will fill those points to work on first.

Let me first say that Kyle did all of us overly enthusiastic people a HUGE service when he mentioned that your first niche doesn’t have to be your last! I have wanted to start an online business for a long time, and I always get caught up in the “passions” department because I have so many things that I enjoy doing/am passionate about, and as a former educator/coach, I love to share my discoveries and help others. I’ve always ended up getting overwhelmed by the sheer volume of ideas. The fact that I can dive in with one idea now, and move into other ideas later was totally liberating! So thank you!

Now for some support and advice: I was a nationally ranked gymnast as a teen and coached for several years—I’m thinking one thing a lot of people probably google search that I know a lot about is gymnastics, training products, drills and exercises, etc. Is that still too broad of an idea? Or would that give me a good amount to generate content around? I’m thinking reviewing equipment, leotards/warm ups, helping parents help their kids at home.

I also parent with my husband in a natural and screen free home. I would love to talk about that and recommend products for other parents interested in moving in that direction.

Any opinions on where to start? Thoughts? Comments? Critiques? I wrote a list of ideas, so I could share that too. Thanks in advance!

... thanks kindly for your question ... suggest you select a first niche that you are interested in to a sufficient level where you will want to sustain blogging / writing about it for an extended length of time to success ... of course, other niches of your choosing can then follow, especially ones that you want to explore or research further ... it is your decision to take as it is your business to manage ... hope this helps you step forward on your training in moving upward to success ...all the best, cheerio.... ;)

Hi Annie,

You have some great passions and you should start with that, yes. You have so many ideas in your head right now but you only need one site to make a full time income.

I think it's best to do the gymnast niche and focus on that one because of you depth of knowledge and personal experience, you could bring a lot to your website and help a lot of people.

Do not mix your ideas all on one website, do not start several or even two websites at once.

One website is a lot of work already, it's best you learn it all first and go through one site, then build another one once that one starts making money.

In this business, it's easy to jump from one idea to another, but when you do that, you won't have any business because nothing is being built to its fullest potential when you do that and your work is spread thin to all different things.

I want to point this out right away since you seem to be one with too many ideas and that could be a trap to fall in.

Gymnast for kids and how to help parents with this topic - perfect niche.

Natural, screen free home parenting is really another niche but it's okay to add some of these things to your gymnast site since you're helping parents with their kids, but this cannot dominate your gymnast site.

Hope all this makes sense. :)

Just cause I'm new and hardly have a clue, though I'm getting there, I thought I ought to follow the lead of the guy who got me turned on to WA. His WA profile talks a little bit about his interests, which got my attention.
When I did mine, I broke it down between what I'm passionate about and what I'm moderately excited about--what actually gets me emotional v. what I like to do or like talking about. During that process, I was wondering if that exercise would be helpful in identifying potential niches.
Lo and behold, the answer was Yes. So I highly recommend to those considering their first niche, to first taking ten minutes to answer the interest questions that I had, when expanding my profile.
The interested reader may be wondering what might be my first niche project. I'm cheating; the answer is none-of-the-above. That's only because, the more lessons I go through, the more I want to get really good at this, and Vegas 2019 seems like the best combination of digging deeper and self-reward. So I think my #1 niche will be down the WA way. (I think I'm turning into a WA afficionado!)
Another great video. Thanks!

I like your insights Kevin.
I believe people are rushing to get their niche without much further consideration.
And some of them wanted to revert when they are already half way building the site which if they do, is a waste of time and resources. I believe choosing a niche is one of the essential part of building an online business, one needs to ponder and make thorough research before they decide their direction.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Kids toy reviews blog/video/comparisons - is this a saturated niche? every parent I talk to at school is already looking for Christmas gift ideas for their kids and panicking about not being able to think of anything! But is it already an over saturated market and therefore hard to get traffic through?

No such thing as a saturated niche - if your content is the best, you'll rank. Use the methods taught here to find the low-competition keywords to drive traffic to your site.

Nina I agree with OnMyOwn Terms on this.
There is nothing like a saturated niche. There is always something that someone hasn't seen or heard of and you might be the one to tell them about.

One of my biggest passions is definitely Anime / Something that is Japanese-related, and as I watched the videos, I have to narrow it down to specific products (although it could be more than one), so something like Anime Figurines, Anime DVDs / CDs, and Japanese snacks would be fine isn't it? Just trying to find some specific ideas to narrow it down.

Another few questions if that's ok. If I was to choose a niche purely based on passion, one of my biggest passions, and the thing I get the most response from within my personal social media network, is global travel/holidays as a single mum with my 6 year old son. The two of us go on holidays abroad 5- times a year all over the world, plus weekends away at least once a month. Content creation isn't a problem (photos, videos, blog/text/reviews etc - and I have lots of advice I can give) but what type of product/service could I affiliate with to promote???

We also do a lot of mum/son fitness activity, again which could lend itself to fun content, but what sort of product/service could I promote around that?

Another one is just generally managing life as completely single, full time working mum, I myself am constantly googling different advice around that - (childcare challenges, time management, work life balance, money management, making time for yourself etc etc) but monetising it by affiliate marketing - not sure how??

Or am I better off just thinking of a very specific product that's not related to any of the above??

I am bearing in mind the 'start small and keep it simple' approach.

thanks all xx

If you are not a qualified expert in a particular area, but you just have a passion for something and some experience and you are good and pulling content together, is that still ok? How do people trust your opinion/advice if they don't know you and whether you really are knowledgeable about something? How do you make sure you don't get into some sort of law suit for mis-selling? e.g. I could write about a beauty product that I like and works for me, but has a negative affect on someone else. Are there legal aspects that we need to understand before we get started?
Reply
Robert-A Premium
Thats where research comes in.
You should research every product you want to promote.
There is also the fact that when you affiliate yourself with a company or individual then its there responsibility not to give the wrong information.
You on the other hand are taking them at their word and more or less repeating what they have said so the onus is on them to get it right and not you.
However if you are uncomfortable promoting a product then you don't.
Its as simple as that and there are countless products to promote so you should in theory never get yourself into any legal issues.
I'm off out now so maybe catch you later.

Hi, I have a few of questions as a newbie

1) is it better to have a lifestyle niche where you promote a set of products around that lifestyle e.g. women's fitness fashion and promote a range of different brands (and therefore may need to join a number of different affiliation programmes), or is it better to focus on a particular product/brand and focus on that e.g. Nike (and therefore only need to join one affiliate programme)???

2) if a customer comes to your site, clicks through a product link, say to amazon, but decides not to buy that product straight away and goes back later to amazon to buy the product direct or shops around different sites, do you lose that sale? if so how do you encourage people to buy in the moment rather than go away to other sites/price comparisons and then buy the product independently??

3) Do you get better results by being the 'face' of your niche, or can you be just as successful being an anonymous person behind a branded blog/site?

Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

It's up to what niche you would like, having said that, go with what you are passionate about! Moreover, it's also about turn over, so remember if you choose something of little value, then the return might be less.

In addition, if the person clicks on your site, hit the icon (Amazon etc) and they go there and decide not to buy, don't worry as there are cookies attached so you will still get the sale.

Keep things personal as people like to know who they are dealing with, plus you are beautiful, so a great advantage there lol x

Please reach out if there is anything else that you need to know.

I'm thinking that right now you are lacking direction - what to do right now and what way you should go.
Personally you should go with what you have experience and knowledge off and as you seem to have quite a lot of each in different areas this should not be a problem.
BUT
You have to single out one particular thing and concentrate on that 100%.
You should be dedicated and focused on that one thing to the exclusion of all else.
You have mentioned quite a few areas where you have the experience and knowledge so pick one out and do not deviate from it.
I believe you will find this is by far the best course of action to get a website up and running and making you money.

You get stuck on anything, you get in touch and I will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Have an awesome Monday.

Hey Kyle, it's me again..

This is the first time I'm coming forward for your opinion..I just want to clarify with you since I am new in this field like everybody else.. I just want to set my goals straight as this is THE MOST IMPORTANT (and CRUCIAL) subject in affiliate marketing I believe..

In the video, you did mentioned that I have to be choosing a niche that I am PASSIONATE about, something that I will be ENJOYED building the business within (minute 13:53 in the video..)

Okay now for the record, my PASSION is GUITAR.. And let's say I know everything (A-Z) about it.. Fair enough, I already have a PASSION there as I ENJOYING it so much!

BUT!

The real reason that I am MORE PASSIONATE about, the ACTUAL reason that I am HERE in WA today is to MAKE REALLY GOOD MONEY and have a SHOT to CHANGE MY LIFE (once and for all)..

I want to take that SHOT and to ACHIEVE IT for whatever it takes because people like you and other SUPER-AFFILIATES proved to all of us here that it is something POSSIBLE to achieve in your life!

My thinking is WHAT IF, I could do a proper market research that I believe could turn a hefty-profit from a product niche that is NOT even my PASSION (GUITAR), together with all the strategies and ideas for the whole business concept that I believe COULD work (with all the related articles from accredited source/report for site content etc)..

OR

Should you advice me to stick with my Guitar for a niche? (even though there are like thousands of guitar sites competing all over the net - that I myself go and buy stuff from)?

What do you (or any EXPERIENCE person in the community) have to say about which path for me to choose?

It's just something that I want to set my thinking straight up from the beginning to minimize or even avoiding making a wrong decision (especially in the beginning of my journey..).

I hope you are getting what I am trying to tell you from the beginner point of view here..

(Let me give you a hint of MY ULTIMATE PASSION --- Is to play GUITAR ALL DAY LONG without thinking of the MONEY because the MONEY is coming to me while I'm playing my GUITAR..)

PS - Anyone feel free to give your thoughts which one do you choose..

Cheers!

Hi Nazry
Im just a little ahead of you on the training. And went through the same thought pattern as you. There is tons of stuff out there on my niche - why would anyone want to read about it by visiting my site when there are proven and true sites already out there.

But because Guitar playing is your passion - it is the reason you know there are tons of niches out there the same. My niche is Homemade crafts - crochet, quilting etc.. What Im trying to say is dont be put off - through your training you find out how to search for keywords in Jaxxy that will help you build your Guitar playing niche using the words that are not as competitive and yet still has results.

Also, if this is your first web site - Its so much easier if you have the content in your head already because you are passionate about it. Then once you have this one up and running and feel confident you know what you are doing..... then find a niche that will make you more money and build a website on that. Here at WA you can have 50 web sites as a premium member.

Thats 50 niches that could be making you money.

Hi Paula,

Great thought and well explained.

I guess not only two of us are having the same thought pattern regarding these matter initially. Sometimes we just want to be 'unique' in our niche so maybe we decided to put ourselves against all those well-established sites around and try to look for something new.

The thing is with guitar playing it's like every single corner of the niche has been covered on the internet (trust me I have spent my time even before I joined WA as I'd made my research and googling around regarding affiliate marketing and niche for guitar playing-it's way too many).

But, maybe there are some small details about guitar playing niche that is not widely addressed on the internet that I had over-looked, who knows. Whatever it is I have to find it like it or not because it's my passion since I was a young boy.

Well, thanks for your thought Paula. Really appreciate that you spare your time to drop me a reply.

Wish you all the best with your future business & enjoy your weekend!

Hi Nazry- Welcome to WA and as a singer and guitar player I can really relate to you being passionate about guitar
This is a great 1st niche, however, I want to ask you this. Do you prefer electric or acoustic guitars?
The reason I ask this is that just having guitars as your niche is quite broad and if you prefer either electric or acoustic then choose your favourite as then you will write from your heart and engage your visitors/readers with the passion you write with.
If you need more help just ask as we are here for you

Of course, and that is what creating an online business will allow you to do. The make money part should not be the only focus, because you will lose sight of what you are doing. Helping people. If
you can help people within any niche, you build trust, and once you have trust with an audience and are establishing yourself as a brand/authority, the sky is truly the limit.

I would recommend that you narrow it down a bit, what aspect of "guitar" do you want to help people out with? There are many types of guitar, types of music you can play with a guitar and aspects of this niche that you can help folks out with.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I pretty sure I want my niche to be pocket pet care; like ferrets, rats, mice, sugar gliders, bunnies, ect. Maybe talk about proper enclosures and cages, bedding, toys, and other accessories for each pet. Also as someone who's been rescuing small animals I've noticed most people don't know how to find or make proper food for their pocket pets, like with my rats I like to make my own mix and supplement it with lab blocks and fresh fruits and veggies. I'm just not sure if I should just specialize in one type of animal or just stick with the broader term or pocket pet.
Reply
Kyle Premium
These are all niches in themselves. Pet Ferrets is a huge niche alone and if you wanted to head in that direction, you could. But if you wanted to brand yourself as "pocket pet care" and diversify as you build your website and help people with different animals, that would work too.

I am very passionate about raising chickens as pets. It is great for young and older. I have raised several of my own. Some from incubators and some I have purchased live. There are different areas to find my niche, like incubators, coops, heat lamps, bedding material and on and on. I also take mine when I travel, so there are things you need for that. I just can't seem to pick just one item. I found Kyle's video really helpful for that. So, I guess I need to do some research. I wanted to get some feedback. Please help me with this one.

I think raising chickens as pets is an awesome niche, especially in today's society that is so busy and people forget that the sound of a chicken doing her chicken song as she lays an egg is so therapeutic for the soul. As you build your blog you can add in the various aspects.. Perhaps start with the basics...... housing, feeding, chicken health etc on each post with links. Then add in the travelling with chickens etc as you build your site. Just make a start and continue on the journey.

Hi im thinking of a niche which is my passion - crafty stuff. So I could focus on crotchet/knitting, sewing etc. I also want to be able to sell my own handmade products on my website. I read somewhere that having too many affiliates can destroy your website in that it can
a) drop rankings with google if you dont have enough content on you web site and too many affiliates and
b) drag people away from your site - where you were hoping to sell your own product.
Ie my product is handmade bags. If I was to attach an affiliate to my website - say bag hardware. Ive lost my customer..... what are your thoughts or am I reading too much into this niche idea

Then I started thinking.... of offering other people the opportunity to advertise their handmade product on my web site and not focus on my own sales of handmade products as they take sooooo long to make and I could be better off working on my web site than making a bag?

Hi, I’m still deciding if this is for me or not. It’s all new so this may seem a stupid question and may by answered further down the training, so, I’m in Australia, do I have to choose Australian companies to affiliate with? How does the payment part of it it work if you are not from the same country. All of this is US based?..
Reply

I was always told the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. It is actually a very good one. I believe funds are directly deposited into your bank account, or a check can be sent. It will all work out for you if you are Australian. The company base, I believe, is Canadian and U.S.people such as myself have no problems. Currency can be converted. The only problem I foresee is people in certain countries that cannot participate in WA due to so much fraud from that particular country, but your country certainly is not on the banned list. You may also want to ask others that know so much more than I do about this topic.

There are 1000s of companies out there with whom to affiliate. There is not a one-size-fits-all answer for who allows affiliates from Australia and who doesn't, but most of the major players are global in nature. You are not limited to Australian companies.

I am into a range of 'natural health products' - specifically the need for us to consume a minimum of 60 'natural' minerals per day to enable our immune system to fulfill it's function of protecting us from a whole range of ailments and illnesses - 'natural' minerals which we no longer get from the food we eat on a daily basis.
This will be my priority 'niche' but of course their are a number of related issues attached to this topic too - like 'natural' vitamins (over the counter stuff being 80% metallic minerals which are of no value to the body at all) - also 'weight loss' etc.,
Just one example - I 'was' a diabetic before I got involved in this market 4/5 years ago !!

My problem is that it is a huge subject - I think perhaps I should concentrate on just 1 aspect of it at the outset like the natural minerals - what do you suggest?

I do have my own website currently but don't think I can put a link to it here which would help highlight my dilemma - or could I add a link somewhere so that someone could offer some specific advice?

Hi Ron,

I think that if you would hone in on just the mineral aspect of preventive health guideline, your niche to begin with that would do great. As the site mature into one to two years of age slowly start adding the other products within your line of products.

By going this route it does not limit your product reviews to just the mineral based products, but you could use that leverage of the mineral knowledge to attract an audience, and then to lead to the other products within the product line.

Hope this helps,

Calvin

I am looking for some feedback. I have 2 ideas for a niche.
The one that interests me the most is writing a weekly article (Just a couple of paragraphs long) reflecting a conversation with a women (Any woman) about an amusing story or event. This article will be written from a man's point of view. Last part of the article will lead into a discussion about a recently purchased product & give it a review. Each week will represent a new product. sThis would mean a new niche every week!
The second idea would be for HVAC product reviews. Of course I could get very specific when needed.
Pleading for your input!

Hi Scott
Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate and good on you putting some ideas down here.
To make it easier for you I suggest you start the training as this will help you determine your niche. Your niche needs to be specific and not too broad and one you can monetize down the track
Here is the link to the training and I wish you well

I don't know which niche I want to choose lol! Here are my choices for my niche:

1) Episodic Anime Reviews / Chapter Manga Reviews
2) Netflix Series Reviews
3) Classic Movies Reviews

I do enjoy anime and reading manga books! I haven't done those in a long time and I would love to get back into it. Same thing for watching Netflix series! As for classic movies, I'm new to this realm and I think it would be cool to review great and hilariously, bad classic movies!

So yeah I have a hard time choosing one lol

Choose one that really you are most passionate about. The others will have to wait.
If you dig deeper, as an affiliate marketer you need to do some research on the niche you are going to head on. Some questions you need to answer like...
- are they people looking for information related to the niche.
- are there enough related topic that you can write content for the site
- can expand this niche in future. (what is the perspective of the niche in say 5-10 years).

I want to make my website for those struggling with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and other related mental illnesses. My goal would be to not only blog about daily life for someone dealing with this but also to market products and services geared towards those struggling with these illnesses.

Is my niche too broad? Should I make one specific mental illness my focus and then also talk about others every so often?
Reply
adreyna Premium
Since mental illness is a very broad topic you will want to focus on a specific illness, research and create quality content, making your site more credible. You can always add others at a later time.

The training was very informative. I have so many ideas. For one I love to motivate others, espically when it comes down to closing sales. My other passion is exercise and fitness and i love different type of sneakers, specifically running shoes. So I'm a little all over the place. Would running sneakers be a good Niche? and are motivational and and self help books/audiobooks good niches when it comes to making money?

Some niches are more competitive than others.

This discussion was quite interesting and informative that I have learned a lot from all my wealthy affiliates ideas about choosing a niche. However, am in Health products business as an affiliate and selling cars and auto parts so how do I choose my niche and to create the websites
Reply
Kyle Premium
You would want to narrow either of those ideas down slightly. What aspect of health products,
what aspect of cars? Those are both really broad.

Reply
There are tons of websites that sell health products and if if you type Affiliate Health Products it will take you to there also because that niche is so huge you can narrow it down to, diabetic online supply stores, vitamin online supply stores etc.

Hello all, I am exploring the possibility of making Pickleball (a new sport I am participating in) my niche. The question is, should I focus only on one product for Pickleball? or Can I keep my niche broad and promote all products for Pickleball? Is it better to have a broad or a more laser focus on your niche?
Reply
adreyna Premium
You probably want to start out with a single product and create quality content about it. You can always add other products later as you build out your site and it becomes more credible.

I'm struggling with my niche choice as well, you can specialize or broaden as you please with that I think, there's a bling for everyone! wedding rings a constant market, some people want specifics. Mood rings, All Irish girls love a nice claugha My friend is an electrician, his wedding ring it titanium so it doesn't conduct electricity. Maybe nickle free for skin sensitive, budget or people's right activists might be interested in quality fake diamonds.... and on an on.

Sure, that could definitely be a niche. Remember there are over 4 billion people online, so EVERY niche is a massive one! :)

I think I have already picked my niche. I want to live longer. So I need to be need to be healthier. What would be wrong with helping others along the way. I really think processed foods and medicines can be bad among other things. Listen to the commercials for the meds and all their side effects. Also the commercials with the lawyers and lawsuits against the Pharmaceutical companies. Read the book by Kevin Trudeau "natural cures "They" don't want you to know about" I know he has had a lot of bad publicity but there are things that he has said that are true, and I have seen things in movies that are talking about the Pharmaceuticals companies ment as a joke that are closer to the truth than you think. See I had a lot of time to read and think while I was in Prison and it didn't all go for not.

Health is one of the most profitable and also evergreen market.
You need to choose a niche (segment) within the market to start with. If you choose health as your niche, it would be too broad. Try looking at sub categories within health market would be recommended.

How did you choose? Window shop and " eeni meeni myni moe" ? Object or subject- then something relevant to that? (Example dermatitis... skin friendly option product (1 of EVERYTHING)) am I thinking too far ahead on how to encourage more than 1 purchase at once/ upsell? Easy, cheap throughout the year eg, balloons? Middle range impulse buys, eg fashion or big money indulge/ investment?
After outside research- and my own spam box

I use to have the mantality that certain niches were more popular and profitable. I see that in finding my niche I could analyze my interests and passions and just what I'm knowledgable about. To become that expert is part of it. There's so many directions one could go in.

I'm always been a graphics passionate, in fact my blog is based on graphics. I love writing totorials, even about other arguments like PC and hi-tech. The important to me is helping people to achieve a particular effect, discover amazing sites, solve a problem etc.. I have other interests too. For example I like languages and I'm learning English and Spanish, but at the end I don't know how to exploit these passions. One thing is certain, I love sharing guides with others and teaching my knowledge.

thank you so much for the video. i want to start a sustainable fashion webshop with athletic wear. 5% of all revenue goes to education in an orphanage in Africa. This is where i also get my fabrics (Africa). Now im curious how people would like to see that they are not only buying clothes but also giving back to community. Let them participate in a contest on my site, put it on the labels or putting out a video. How can i bring the message in best possible way? Kind of stuck here.

Just build your website. Then you can add in the donation info in a separate page explaining all of the above in great detail. You can even have your own PayPal Donation Button on your site. That is all a head of you though.

Building your site is key.

You can do product reviews to attract traffic. Adding content is also key.

YouTube is definitely great as well and you can make videos to bring in an audience.

But for now, I suggest you build your site, add content. The rest will follow Frederique. Any more questions just ask.

I am delighted you found it as well, but so there is no confusion, I am a member at Wealthy Affiliate. Not my creation. Kyle and Carson are the Co-Founders of WA and so if this is what you mean then I also delighted to have found it :-) .

The training really does break it down and I for one just loved it!! It answered a lifetimes of questions on how people, just like me - no difference at all - have their own site and making income from it.

This is the essence of WA and better still WA will teach you how to make money from ANY PLATFORM online that runs affiliate programs. Doesn't get any better than that really.

Slow at the start is fast in the long run. ANY PROBLEMS, and I can't stress this enough, ask myself or anyone here for help (and yes, that includes Kyle and Carson as well - Live Chat also etc) without hesitation. It will save you being stuck and feeling like you can't move on and tons of time as well.

Great to see you are enjoying this amazing platform Frederique and of course you are most welcome :-) .

Hey everyone i’m still struggling to find my niche I made a little research and from what I can see it might not be the most lucrative of all. My passions is car i’ve always been a car guy but does any of you know if it’s a viable niche to get into or should I get into a niche that is more popular or do you have any idea if it’s worth it to go that route in the car industry?
Reply
feigner Premium
Hi Yanick - when you say your niche is car - could you expand a little on this - as this could cover anything from detailing through to accessories. any one of these could be niches within themselves.
you say it may not be the most lucrative - how do you know - is it something you would buy and is it down to the affiliate program you looked at? but then if you know it - use this as a atarter site to help you write content and learn the business model - make all the newbie mistakes and then go for your second site as your main one.
but the car industry is a huge luctative niche.

as i said if you are confident you can write 50- 100 articles about it - then use it to learn the business model here.
you may as time goes on find that you want to do other niches and feel that those are THE ones that you want to persue.
So if you do do an article explaining how to setup your camber, castor and toe in at home with simple tools then let me know.

Okay I'm stuck again..... Will I ever get my information out there? I have spent over 20 years putting together information for people to use in order to start making money today. What I'm wanting to do is only share information that I've personally tested and knows that it works. So many other sites are just like a copy and paste project. I mean it's almost to the point that all of them are the same. So with that being said, I am a little bit worried. I guess my question is in this day and time, can one still thrive in this type of site?
please help me!

Yes, you definitely can. You cannot "sell" anything to members here, but you can certainly share information and add training here through time if you like. Also, we are going to show you how to create and sustain a full time income online in any niche, so perhaps you want to head in Affiliate Bootcamp direction if you want to head in the make money space (as it sounds like you have lots of value to offer).

I don't know much about guitars but I think there are a bunch of styles and anufacturers. There is probably a lot to talk about in their history, who had what guitar, what guitars are made of, how firsti evolved.
These are just quick thinking topics and for someone who knows about them I don't think you'll have any problem.
Reply
Kyle Premium
You don't have to be an expert at a niche, to choose that niche. Your expertise will be developed and established over time and as you immerse yourself within that niche.

If you are passionate or interested in guitars, you could definitely create a business online around helping people within this given niche.

I really enjoyed this video. It helped me to breakdown the notion of "niches", and it doesn't need to be overanalysed. The key is finding something you love and enjoy learning about. If you choose any old niche, you may not make money as you will be less liable to spend time building your websites and catering to your audiences interests. Thank you, I look forward to lesson 3!

Yeah, lots of people spend too much time and quite honestly overthink what there niche is going to be. Your first niche doesn't need to be your last (and probably won't be) and there is no such thing as a perfect niche, you make your niche perfect for you!

Keep up the great progress Gloria!

I enjoyed the video on "It Start With a Niche" and I understand how to proceed . My interest at the moment is in Christianity, and I know Christianity is a broad subject. I have narrow it down to the bible, prayer, church products and certain discussion for the newly Christian.

I also thought about Herbs in which I know nothing about but are very interesting in learning about how herbs are healthy for our body.

The video was very helpful and should get me going in the right direction. I am quite sure Amazon.com, Answers.com, Google.com, and Magazines.com will be a great help to me along with the WA community.

Michael, it sounds like you're on the right path and that you've done some research. Any one of those topics would be a good niche. Just ask yourself what are you most passionate about or interested in, and what it is you want to help others do. Wish you all the very best.

#Question: I am passionate about talking about Christianity... A lot of what I like to do is answer questions that a huge amount of people are confused on. Can i make my niche this topic, I'm assuming i would find mostly books and such to sell in the blog posts, but is that effective? Or should It be more specific type of site, where I just sell specific catagory of chirstian products? I would LOVE to write everyday about TRUTHS in the bible, and earn from it.

there is an app out there people subscribe to and get bible readings daily or at the press of a button, hugely popular - so yes you can make a niche out of christianity.
there are a number of members who have started sites on religion, so it might be worth digging around a bit to see who is on here and see what they are upto.
good luck Mark.

I think you could have an answer site for questions on the Bible and Christianity. The only difficulty I see with it is that the Bible is so diverse and interpretations are so wide you may need to narrow it even to Old Testament or New Testament or a certain theme of the Bible. We need more of these type of sites that give honest answers to what ails the nations. I would think you could also market Christian retreats or other related things.

Best wishes,
Karin :)

Once you have a far amount of content and traffic, you can add affiliate programs like Amazon or even Google Adsense to monetize the site. Personalized print items like shirts, hoodies, cups, cards, Bibles, study aids... all kinds of stuff. Walk into almost any Christian bookstore and... there you go! TONS of stuff available to offer to your audience.
