A domain is your brand and as you establish yourself as a brand or an authority in any niche it is very important that get a domain that represents you and your business as a brand.

In the same way that Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook and Apple are brands that we have come to know, as your move forward with your business you will be building out yourself as a brand/authority within your given niche.

In this video I am going to be walking you through the process of researching and coming up with your domain name. We are going to be using a free service called NameMesh to help us out with this.

Then we are going to be leveraging SiteDomains to find and purchase the domain name, upon which time it will instantly be ready for us to build out our website on.

To access SiteDomains and purchase your domains, you can head here:

==> SiteDomains - The Ultimate Domain Experience

**Note: After you purchase your domain, you will receive an email from domains@wealthyaffiliate.com with the title "IMMEDIATE VERIFICATION required for yourdomain.com". You will want to open that email and VERIFY your email address.

When I purchased my domain. I believe I did not go right away to ck my email. The email I believe said I had 15(?) Days to confirm....I was glad I ran across the email. Not realising its importance and time sensitivity. Obvious I wasn't to this step on this set of course work. I will definetly try namemesh.com next time! Thanks for the info!

What is your opinion my domain name is Pappey’s Southwest Flare.com
Reply
Kyle Premium
Sorry, is there no dashes in that?

PappeysSouthwestFlare.com

That would be not bad, what niche is your domain in?

Kyle, truly a great message and training. My only question is, how long long does it take to get indexed with Google again? And do all the other Google items have to be re-activated?

This is very good, just what I am looking for. So here's a question please. If I am thinking of marketing my knowledge in an area say project management should I be choosing something like my pmexperience or mypmknowledge as a brandable domain name rather than the potential audience which could be newbie PMs, experienced PMs returning PMs etc.which I have found difficult to put together in one domain name (AllPMs??). Or should I be looking for something else and if so what would you suggest please? I know this question may sound obvious and apologise for that but I need to understand this before setting up my brand. Thanks for your help and comments, Hudson

I really like Name Mesh. For now I am going to use it along with the Site Matrix domain name tool. Eventually, I will decide which app I like better and use it. Thank you for making this available to us!

Use whatever one you like better. As long as you are coming up with domain ideas, it is a great tool!

A good choice at the beginning makes all the difference, I think a singer one said this, his name was Humperdinck, you will not get far without humor.

Good to hear. Brand always comes first when you are choosing a domain (and you want a .com ideally, with .org and .net being second best).

Secondary, is keywords, but they are not that important in your domain, they will carry importance with every page and post you create on your actual website.

When I started my domain I had the idea to create a name that is not relevant to my niche. I seem to be doing well in the rankings. If I had chosen a relevant name do you think I would have done better? And is there an easy way to switch?
Reply
MozMary Premium
people will debate this, ultimately it's not the name that will make the difference - look at Nathaniell's site 'onemorecupofcoffee' or something like that, he says he made a mistake as a newbie but is doing so well he is not going to change it

on the other hand, a good example @rich gives is look at Apple!

as for an easy way to switch - without losing your rankings? maybe someone will surprise us with a 'yes' here :D

Kyle...an excellent video presentation on Choosing & Buying a Brandable Domain Name. I've done this already, weeks ago, in fact. I haven't set-up a website yet, but will very soon.

Thank you!

Excellent to hear you have already picked up your domain, the next step as you know will be building out your website on this domain and over time establishing your brand.

Thank you Kyle for the new Training here at Wealthy Affiliate. I already bought a domain name but I sure wish I knew about NameMesh when I bought it - that is one of the hardest things to do - thinking of a name to choose, and I can see how that tool would help so much.

Namemesh certainly a good tool you can use and it's free (which is an awesome part of it).

Thanks Kyle,
I will be adding this to my favourites to come back to very soon. It just so happens that I am about to start looking at how to choose a domain name for branding in the very near future, so this is very timely info.

Excellent, this is perfect timing then and it will give you some ideas as to how to come up with a good domain name. :)

Also, if you ever need to run your domain name(s) by me, feel free to do so and I would be more than happy to give you my feedback. The key is to being brandable though, as far too many people focus on being "keyword rich" with their domains which is not critical at all. ;)

Thank you for offering Kyle and for clarifying again that keyword rich does not necessarily constitute the same thing as a brand. I still get all caught up with that. I'm hoping to come back to this video later this evening (it's only late afternoon here in Australia at the moment). I'm really looking forward to watching and learning.
With Gratitude Always for you and Carson (and Jay's Wabinars too) for providing us this training.

Many people do get caught up in that, it is completely normal and there is the natural tendency to focus on keywords...always.

Your domain is your brand, the content (each page/post you create on your website) is where you will be targeting keywords and get your rankings.

This was great advice. I have bought domains in the past and just bumbled through the purchase. Now I can do a better job and finally use a domain for a web site. Not much use owning a domain if one doesn't use it. I am feeling much more confident that with your help I will get the information I need.
