Hi everyone and welcome to another addition of Shawn's Tutorials!

This tutorial will cover buying a domain from Google Domains and then transferring it over to the Wealthy Affiliate Hosting.

Once this is achieved you can then build your own website with the SiteRubix website builder or transfer an existing website you own or a SiteRubix site over to the purchased domain.

We will be referring to the following links and definitions:

  • Domain Name: A domain name it the name of your URL

Example: You bought www.mydomain.com The domain name is just that, www.mydomain.com This will be the website address also, but it is NOT the website, only the domain name. The website will be built under this name using the Site Rubix website builder or by transferring an existing website to the new domain name.

  • Nameservers:

These are the server numbers that we will use to point this new domain name to the Wealthy Affiliate servers.

The numbers we will be using are as follows:

Primary Nameserver: ns1.mywahosting.com

Secondary Nameserver: ns2.mywahosting.com

  • SiteRubix Website Builder

This can be found here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/build

We will use this to build a new website or to transfer an existing website to the new domian name.

Well, let's buy that domain!

I went to Google Domains but apparently you can only purchase a domain name from them if you have an US mailing address. I usually buy mine from name cheap too but I was just curious to see what their prices are.

Thank you so much, Shawn! I have been very confused about this and you have so nicely explained it all. With all the excellent training you generous folks supply, all I now have to to (to borrow a phrase) is "Build It and They Will Come!"

I did something just the other way around today, I thought google could be my "host" for just an email address, but because of their well-known verification methods I have moved everything to WA... :-)

Question Shawn: What is the standard price for a .com domain @ Google?

Grtz,
Bert

They start at 12 bucks, they are pretty much the same as Namecheap, which is the one I use.

Yes, $12 is OK. Thks
I bought a .be for $4.5 today normally same price as .com, but I just checked and the .com's are around $11 so not enough difference to change!
