My domain name I've chosen is cafejacobs.rubixsite.com am I being to broad or confusing my audience ? I'm also doing a audience analysis to really tap into finding who my audience IAM speaking to age ,gender etc and really getting a analysis ,is there any advice you can give with finding a good strategy for your audience before building your site ?

I think that is good Dean and when you do transition over to your own website that will work just fine as you will be able to retain this brand or choose something new.

What about a domain name like singlemomaffiliate? Anyone got any other ideas for it? I am open to suggestion!
Reply

When you choose a domain, you are going to want to choose something that is "brandable" versus something that has keywords within it. The reason this is the case is because as you build out your website, you can target as many keywords as you like within the content (that is how you will rank).

I have created a discussion here outlining the process and what to look for when choosing a domain name: This should help you out here and if you ever want to run any domains by me, simply let me know and I will give you some feedback.

PS. You can host up to 25 of your own domains here within the Premium membership on our state of the art hosting platform. :)

Absolutely no problem, in fact you have the "creme de la creme" when it comes to managed hosting here at WA.

The Managed Wordpress hosting you have access to here at WA is matched by very few hosts in the industry in terms of quality, security, speed, and support. It definitely is not a budget host like the other shared hosting companies out there. The hosting you get here at WA is comparable to $250 per MONTH hosting packages.

You can learn more about it here:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/hosting/

You can host up to 25 of your own domains and 25 free .siterubix.com websites on your Premium hosting platform here at WA.

is it necessary for the website title and the domain name to be the same?
and since i did the website and they are not the same how can i change the title?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Ideally you want him to be consistent, but they do not need to be exactly the same.

Within your WP-admin area, head to:

Settings => General

You can update your title there typically. In saying this, your title is sometimes an image, and in this case you will need to head to your theme settings and add a new image logo to replace the title.

You can do this within Appearance => Themes and then go to Customize under your particular theme you are using and you should see an option for updating the header there.

Hope this helps you out here.

how can i delete the website?
Reply
Kyle Premium
You can delete a website from within your Site Manager.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites

If you go to the Details (button), click that it will take you to your details page for that given site. If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, you will see a Delete This Website button. Click that.

Do know that if you delete a website, you will not be able to recover it at a later times as it is completely deleted from our hosting platform.

how do you change color of heading on site
Reply
Kyle Premium
This is typically based on the themes that you choose. Sometimes they don't allow you to change the colors very easily, but if they do it will be within your appearance => Themes (and then under the "Customize" link.

If not, I would choose a theme with colours that you would prefer.

Great training. I am excited to get started. I have a couple of questions. Stop me if I am getting ahead of myself. First, I have a website set up through Go Daddy, can I use that through here? Also, I would like to set up another one through here, but I don't want the siterubix in the URL... is that possible? I am willing to pay for the URL if necessary to make that happen. Lastly, when editing the site, will there be access to change fonts and all? Thanks in advance!!!
Reply
Nikosth Premium
You can move your website from Go Daddy to WA if you want. You could also keep you website at Go Daddy and just apply the things you learn here at your site. You can do whatever you like the most. If your website is not hosted here you might not be able to use certain tools inside WA. Like Site Comments and Site Feedback. But you can ask for comments inside the lessons or you can use this comment thread . So, there are other options available inside WA.

You can create a website at your own domain here at WA. It is possible to host up to 25 websites of your own domains in WA with the premium membership. You can buy a domain name at site domains.Go to Site Rubix and then Site Domains. The process of how you can buy a domain name at WA is explained in the lessons ahead. But it's very easy to do it. On average they cost $12 per year. But prices vary. You can find domain names for $8 up to $18 per year.

You can edit your websites at Site Manager. You click log in and that will take you to the back office of your site. In order to change fonts, header images and stuff like that you will have to go to Appearance. That's where you can usually make this changes. But that also depends on your theme. Some themes may not allow you to change your font for example. But you have access to thousands of free WordPress themes to choose from.

Don't worry all this are explained in the next lessons.

Building a website--and understanding it--is going to take me weeks and probably months. There seems to be a lot of buttons to push, submenus, more buttons and tabs to push, etc. etc. I am extremely happy that the Wealthy Affiliate bootcamp website process is so sophisticated and full of options, but it will take me some time to learn all of it.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Of course, all part of the learning process really. Don't become an expert at anything overnight, but as you miss you the training your going to be very well versed and before you know what you're going be proficient at building websites.

So glad you are enjoying the training thus far!

This was helpful. In this process it took me to WordPress and I already have a WordPress blog. Can I connect that already existing WordPress to SiteRubix?
Reply
Kyle Premium
You don't have to use the website platform here if you don't want. You can use an existing site that you already have set-up with the training here or you can start fresh.

Sometimes with an existing site there may be some things that you have done in the past that could be hurting your rankings (backlinks, spun content, duplicate content, low quality content), so starting fresh and doing things properly from the start can be advantageous. But this is totally up to you.

Either way, I am here to help you along the way Wolfgins!

As a newbie, something I found useful was to get started with a basic theme to start practising and create useful content and posts. Once I did some practice, then I changed for a more advanced theme.

Besides that, I have to praise all the functionality that WA offers to premium members such as SiteSpeed as it makes life easier for us, as we do not need additional plugins to take care of that.

Thank you!

Reply

What part of the design aspect are you getting stuck with? Are you not finding any themes that you like?

Choose a theme that is simple, ideally with a white background and black text (as this is the most readable).

I tend to avoid themes with too many bells and whistles as the focus of your website will be your content and your content will make your website look visually appealing to your audience.

So choose something simple, yet elegant and if you ever need to change down the road, you can easily do so within Appearance => Themes.

There are over 3,000 to choose from there and you will also be able to upload your own from there.

I have created some training on how to do this that you should check out:

I suggest creating a hosting support ticket here:

You can also find this within the SiteRubix menu under the "SiteSupport"(to the left). This is where you should go if you ever have loading issues with your website, email issues, plugin/theme issues, or if you accidentally do something that adversely impacts your website.

This support is 24/7 and upon submitting your ticket we will look into it right away Chris!

I have an "outdoor" niche site here at WA.
Can i use this website to promote WA or should my website be in an "online marketing" type of niche?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Sure, I would narrow it down a bit though. What aspect of the "outdoors" are you referring to.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Thanks. I am thinking about "the content that I have there already".
100 posts and -500 comments. Is this the right approach or should I simply Start Fresh. Also have a ( .ca ) domain. Does this matter? or would I be better off to go .com.

.ca will only rank in Canada. If you want to target a global audience, you will want a .com. Who is your target audience? What is your website URL?

You can buy domains here at WA directly through the SiteDomains platform. It is a very seamless system and we have implemented some very advanced features so you do not have to deal with the headache of DNS, whois privacy, security, upsells, or of managing your domains within a completely different account.

You can access the SiteDomains platform under the main SiteRubix menu, or you can get to it directly here.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains

A .com domain will usually run you under $14 per year, with other top level domains varying in price. This includes absolutely everything. You can register any of your domains there and upon purchasing, they will instantly be ready to build your website on!

JohnSr1 Premium
Kyle, so as a Premium Member the 25 free domains from SiteDomains have to be used for websites within WA, right? And if I choose to use a domain from SiteDomain for a website totally unrelated to WA I have to pay for that, right?

No, you can use your websites for whatever you like. You are in full control, what you use your websites for is up to you. In fact, we recommend you go into a niche/space that is unrelated to WA, choose a passion and move forward from there.
