The importance of adopting a Disciplined Approach

I’ve been talking about taking a Disciplined Approach in business and life for many years, in fact it was back in 2010 when I first started using the phrase in my property mentoring business, Property with Purpose.

What I mean by a Disciplined Approach is to take a super focused, disciplined attitude to a particular area in business or life. Let’s apply to business for the purpose of this tutorial.
For online networking. It means to:

  • keep your face-to-face values of communication (respect and consideration) top of mind
  • make growing your online network a priori
  • set goals to measure your success by
  • plan action steps to take and most importantly
  • take action

Sometimes it helps to have an accountability partner to keep you on track in these things. So ask someone you know, someone here on WA or simply use the comments section on this tutorial as a way of saying publically what your intentions are and how you’re tracking. Whatever suits your personality and timetable.

For example, I joined WA about 4 months ago and I was totally committed and active for probably the first 6 to 8 weeks. Then ‘life happened’ got in the way and I was distracted for about 6 weeks. Now having returned I decided I was going to take a Disciplined Approach. Now this is going to look slightly different for everyone according to what your priorities and needs are…

For me, I want to have a minimum of 1000 WA people following me because they are like-minded, positive, motivated and action takers. They believe in we can lift each other up and enjoy our own levels of success together. Sharing a meaningful and long term business journey together. Therefore, I actively seek out those blogging their success and positive views on WA, online marketing and life in general.

What does taking a Disciplined Approach look like for you here at WA?

We have 2 more lessons in this tutorial to go so congratulations you’re half way! Next lesson is to know your audience…

Flower!! This is most excellent!! Thank you so much as (sorry if this sounds arrogant) I have reached a point that few trainers offer me anything.

However, I have found a vast and mighty supply of greatness. Anyone who ever sees another needs this value.

Most excellent.

Well done on your first training Fleur! Really enjoyed! You made me think, not only of my online communication but my offline communication too (especially the bit about eye contact and not being distracted by phone while in conversation with someone). Thank you for providing meaningful ways to master networking and some really great ideas on how to apply these skills to our online life.
